Garlic Fried Chicken Drumsticks
Ingredients:
10-12 chicken drumsticks
1 tsp salt
White pepper to taste
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp chicken bouillon powder
1-2 tbsp crushed garlic
2 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp sesame oil
2 tbsp Chinese rice wine
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 egg
2-3 heaped tsp cornstarch
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp cornstarch
Vegetable oil for frying
For the Marinade:
1. Use a knife to slit the drumsticks a few times, as demonstrated in the video.
2. In a bowl, mix together the salt, white pepper, sugar, bouillon powder, crushed garlic, oyster sauce, sesame oil, rice wine, and soy sauce.
3. Beat the egg and mix in 2-3 heaped teaspoons of cornstarch to make a marinade batter.
4. Add the chicken drumsticks and marinade batter to a ziplock bag or bowl. Marinate for 2-3 hours in the fridge.
For the Coating:
1. In a shallow bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour and 1 tsp cornstarch.
2. Remove drumsticks from the marinade and dredge each piece thoroughly in the flour mixture until fully coated.
3. Place the coated drumsticks on a plate or baking sheet.
For Frying:
1. Heat 2-3 inches of vegetable oil in a skillet or pot to 350°F.
2. Fry the coated drumsticks for 5-10 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
3. Remove from oil and drain on a wire rack or paper towel-lined plate.
Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce and sides like steamed rice or vegetables. Enjoy! - Jak na to + styl

My mother is Japanese and always love it when she cooks. And before she passed she taught me a lot the cooking she did. I like this guys cooking. He should invest in tri pod or to hold his camera, so he wouldn’t have to hold his work in the air.

@@deniseapps8244 any high smoke point oil. I'm in Australia and use sunflower oil works well, other's use Canola but I won't use Canola anything same for Veg oil. Hope this helps

No it really doesn't, the double fry is substantial enough. Health and safety #1 you never leave fresh chicken out to get to "room temp".

Thanks for demonstrating how to cut into the drumstick and preserving the meat and skin. I usually cut into the drumstick but it doesn’t look as neat as yours. As for cooking, do you have to fry twice? Will it not be as crispy? Your chicken looks delicious!
I fry a few minutes to form a crust as I fry in batches on medium heat, once all chicken is done I turn the heat on high to fry second time and it makes the crust crispy and cooks and keeps the juiciness of the chicken meat

🤤. Glad i found your video, their was a place when i was kid, that this chiense restaurant in Stockton called Fon Wongs deli. They had the best garlic fried Chicken i have ever had,but unfortunately they closed down after being around for so many years. not sure why they did as i was in another country at the time, but me and my family always remembered their food, always delicious.
