    1. We don't invest much in the "Technology" field. We want profit but we hated investing as a whole.
    2. Let's face it, it's monopolized.
    3. We don't have our OWN line. Again, investment reluctance as stated in no.1
    4. Our mindset of "pwede na yan" kicks in. Instead of improving everything, we settle on the mid-tier stuff.
    5. Most common reason: Corruption on private and government side. Lahat ha, hindi ko sinisingle out.
Look at USA, they're now trying to connect the world through the use of satellites by Elon. We're extremely behind in technology.
All in all, if we're afraid of investing, don't expect much from a service / product. Samahan mo pa ng corruption.

You missed one important thing GMA. Both Telcos are basically owned by Foreigners. Those two telcos are busy paying a hefty dividend to their investors. Majority of PLDT is owned by First Pacific (hong kong) and NTT (Japan). Majority of Globe is owned by Singtel (SG) and Asiacom (ayala + singtel joint venture, so in other words Globe is owned by Singte, lol). Gov is not doing anything about that ownership structure and there are no regulation in place to limit that dividend payout or require the Telcos to provide a "continuous service improvement".
Low capex-not enough upgrades-slow network. To build a fast network you need more bandwidth. To create more bandwidth you need high capacity equipments (which are expensive).
DITO will just suffer the same thing. 40% of it is owned by China Tel. That is A LOT. And I don't think that company has a mission or vision to provide better Internet service for the Filipinos, but I would like to be proven wrong.

Ever since I learned more about our history and our society, I have always thought that overpopulation is the root cause of all problems in the Philippines. Even now, I still believe it is. So what if we build more towers? So what if we move to 5G? So what if there are more competitors? As long as the number of households keep increasing more than we could upgrade our facilities, we will keep on suffering in many ways. It's not just the internet. We also have shortage of clean accessible water, electricity, living spaces, food, etc. To keep up with these shoratges, we tend to sacrifice the environment by clearing forests and overexploiting natural resources. Our cycle of problems will keep on rolling until all the Filipinos realize how to think and live as a sustainable society.
I hate it that we are the social media capital of the world. It shows that most individuals care more about how they look and how they achieve their own personal desires. People want to stand out, show off status, and be famous. Some try to appear "good or saint-like" but they actually have ulterior desires. A political ideology will not solve this, only personal and conscious discipline can. But Filipinos, as their society evolved, have manifested one of their most hideous traits: Crab Mentality. It is very evident not just in forms of corruption but also in the way people operate in social media. Ever since ever, our historians and hereos have been saying that our greatest enemy is ourselves and that is true. We are in a cycle of ruin and I hope, I really hope, that I get to live to see a day where this stops. I'm hoping for a society-changing event that will change how our people think and behave. And no, CoVid was not able to solve this. I wonder what can. I am still a child by Filipino standards okay, but the way I see our country, it is very miserable:(

    1) create a government corporation that would build towers all around the country. A corporation similar to NGCP. This will establish the infrastructure that would level the “playing field” for other companies to enter the industry. This would be spearheaded by government by enacting a law, similar to EPIRA of the electric power industry, for the telecommunications industry.

We know that one of the mandates of the government for its economy to bloom is to create a competitive yet balanced "playing field" for corporations and prevent misdeeds and bankruptcy.
