I discovered one of the best TV shows of all time - for me, at least. "For All Mankind" feels like a Star Trek prequel about how the world comes together through the space race. The interesting twist here is that it's an alternate world where the Soviet Union went to the moon first before the USA did and the space race continued on well into the nineties, during which they not only went to the moon but also established a base there and even continued on to Mars.
Besides the fantasy of giving humanity something that feels bigger than them, this show also has great drama at its core, not just surrounding the astronauts in space, but also those left behind on Earth who obviously have to deal with their family members being away on dangerous missions for longer stretches of time. The writing is fantastic and there's always a sense of danger which kept me at the edge of my seat during tense scenes.
AppleTV+ is worth the price of subscription for this show alone!
