I would have to disagree with that statement, for hundreds of years we suffered harsh living conditions. And just in the past 100 I went from horse and buggy and no electricity, to sending things to Mars, The advancements in technology and achievements made has surpassed the total in the previous 300 years. IMO

They're gonna have Joel Kinnaman playing a 120 year old character that somehow is still one of the only 20 astronauts available on the planet by the end of this.
But seriously, as long as the plot points are related to the challenges of space and not a bunch of strange personal issues that somehow got overlooked when picking people for missions, this looks like it will be a good season.
You do realize we are talking about fallible humans here. You're welcome to do a spec for Ayn Rand's "Conquest of Space" if you want.
@@peraltarockets While interpersonal issues will crop up any time you have people doing something together, they've typically been the weakest elements of For All Mankind. Particularly Danny's obsession with Karen last season, but even before that the Baldwins' daughter and her adoption angst, or Ellen's gay angst. The only 'personal issues' story that was okay was Gordo and Tracy's divorced life in season 2, and the only reason that was at all worthwhile was the flat-out great resolution to it. Without the way that plot ended it would have been just as dull as the rest.
It was pretty unbelievable that Danny would have passed psych eval’s and even when he was on mission, you have a known addict in the crew and you’re not securing the drug stash after you just gave him painkillers, let alone it should be secured at all times under the authority of an established medical crew member anyway. This is where the show falls down. Either be a serious space drama where the technical and professional aspects of the elite are met or just do personal drama. You can’t be so excellent and then just fudge it for drama purposes. The whole relapse on Mars thing was hard to take. Especially a commander who couldn’t see obvious signs from someone he knows had substance abuse history. It was also hard to believe he would still be obsessed over Karen for years afterwards.
I didn't mind the personal drama. I think it deepens the characters, highlights their flaws and motivations. It gives you characters you can care about. This show would be bland without it
His character was born in 1929, this season takes place in 2003, so he would be about 74 years old in Season 4. Ed Baldwin would be 120 in the year 2049. If each season is about 10 years apart, then Ed Baldwin will be 120 years old in about Season 8.
Based on how they run their timelines, this will likely be Ed's final season. I suppose they could squeeze in one more but at his "age" then it couldn't be more than him sitting on a couch making comments about NASA and the "good ol' days".
I'm surprised he's on Mars. He's in his 70s.

I'm so happy that this show is on Apple. The creators were given a chance to improve the show with each season. Every season is more grand than the last and it's safe to say the folks at Apple TV are more than happy to keep increasing the budget. I cannot wait for season 4 and can't wait to see what Ed and co have in store for us. Bring it on
I really like that they dare to to jump 10 years every time, it forces them to add new characters, but also gives them a chance to show more then the same moon colony every time

7 seasons are planned. Season 6 would be current year. Here's hoping we get all 7. They do have an ending for the series planned should season 5 be the end tho. I really hope we get to see season 7 and what this alternate timeline's future looks like

throughout the series we have seen mass protests because of the quick changes to which workforce could no adapt fast enough.
The space race was costly and destabilising, they don‘t really show how much.
Then again, they would ask themselves how we could stay stuck for so long without worldwide civil war.

I spent a week watching all episodes/seasons of this outstanding show! I couldn't pull away from it. It's the best show ever! I cried, laughed and was sitting at the edge of my seat during this show. Great job apple!! Looking forward to season 4.
All "space colony" stories on TV and movies either stop short of the actual colonization, or skip the colonization part and move straight to how the colony was destroyed or how colonies fought against each other.
For once I want to see a TV show take a detailed look at how a disparate group of humans gradually set aside their earthly differences to come together to build a life across generations in an inhospitable planet or alien biosphere against insurmountable odds. Like adaptation of the Mars trilogy of books. Or may be an offshoot of The Expanse about how Mars and the asteroids or the Ring planets were colonized. Some shows that were promising like NatGeo's Mars, HBO's Raised by Wolves, BBC's Outcasts were cancelled way too soon. Oasis never moved beyond a pilot movie despite being well received.
So, I have high hopes that this season will finally make it happen.
BBC is as bad as Fox for cancelled scifi.
Apple could make a companion mini-series about a mockumentary of building the Mars colony starting from where season 3 ended

It's turned into a bit of a soap opera, they'll redeem him with an honorable death or something similar.
Because the show writers have established a pattern over 3 seasons that there are no PURE victory moments without something sad happening, and similarly, there are no absolute tragedies without a tiny win to give the audience hope. I have really enjoyed the show, but it takes some of the wind out of the sails being able to anticipate it.

Season 3 was absolutle crazy bonkers. I can only imagine the off the charts crazy things they have for season 4. This is hands down on the absolute best drama on streaming that keeps you thrilled from start to finish.

It wouldn't make sense for him to be in the next season (or alive at all for that matter) if they have a similar time-jump between the end of this upcoming season and the start of next season like they've had in previous 'in-between seasons'.
If there's a Season 5 it's likely going to take place somwhere between the mid-2010's and the early 2020's (our present day), and by that point he would be in his mid- to- late 90's.
@@Cbricklyne I'm sure that in this timeline with all the future tech that is 20/30 years ahead of our actual timeline that biomedical tech has also made a jump, especially for a guy like Ed who keeps himself in good physical condition.

I've just finished a complete rewatch of the first 3 Seasons in preparation for Season 4 & I cannot wait now 👏🏻...
We are definitely getting to the point where I think this is the Final Season for Ed, Danielle & Margo however but they have one hell of a story for us to witness before they go.
Plus we get to see how Ellens story will be tied up as well since Jodi Balfour is already confirmed to be only recurring in Seaaon 4 as well.
Really hope we get a Season 5 Renewal soon 🤞🏻.
Yeah. As much as I love those three characters it’s starting to become unrealistic they are still around. Maybe Danielle could still be in nasa on season 5 but in an administrative role back on earth.
I think the most feasible way to keep Ed and Dani around is to have them stay around on Mars due to some health issue, to keep them relevant and around during its colonial phase.
Facts from the other 2 comments. Dani and Ed are the only realistic options to stay until maybe 1 more seasons and with some other crew members. The rest needs to GO. Not going to mention who specifically because you know who i am referring to

cool that they are doing an asteroid mining mission for S4 when Osiris Rex samples are just being opened up and researched. Would love to see a future for humanity where we can stop mining for minerals on earth and stop the ridiculous rat race for all these rare metals that make our technology work.
It will be for nothing if we don't shift our attitudes towards being a single species who have been given brief custodianship of a single world.
They seem to have incorporated what we learnt from that mission, that asteroids are more rubble mound, that solid rock.

I love how they forgot or sideline Chinese in this series. Considering on how Chinese space program advancing in actual history, and adjusted to For All Mankind's timeline & technological advancement, Chinese must have a lunar surface station and Mars manned mission of their own too

I've never seen him in a serious role, always in comedies. This will be really great to watch! To me, he will always be Marv that stepped on a nail.

I didn't say faster than light. There are plausible ways to make generation ships utilizing asteroids an advanced fusion drive and microclimate technology. I wonder who manufactured all this new space stuff (Mars space station, big space refinery, Mars colony, interplanetary transfer craft and landers). It can't be all from Helios but they must have really put aside their differences to produce all this cool stuff together.
I think helios like neitral organzation for ussr and usa. The give money and other resurces and helios make work.

Just finished S1. I'm loving the show so far but watching shows like this make me feel all the more disappointed that our species hasn't made it this far...yet.

Japan and India have apparently advanced enough to join Mars alongside Helios, Soviet Union, and USA.
Saw the above ground mars base and felt my not so inner nerd come out. *pushes glasses up* "actually an underground base would be safer and more feasible in order to protect everyone and equipment from the dust storms that propel sand that is basically super fine shards of glass at speeds up to or over 100mph...."
