I love how they changed the proportions of everything. The buildings now feel like buildings and some myth units really feel like big monsters
THis game was my childhood and it looks great- I hope the balance improves

We need to hear the AoM Retold Soundtrack, the fact that we haven't heard anything yet is troubling....
Why is it troubling ? They have a right to keep a few surprises for later and not reveal everything at once.
@@charleslavoie7622 The soundtrack is beloved and some details would be nice. Omitting any info gives the impression that its simply an afterthought.
Chimera is shown in a screenshot/wallpaper it’s just not very visible cause it’s quite small there aswell as in a leaked gameplay video worth the Manticore. But nothing close up. Seems like the chimera is more scaly with some thornes in its skin around the snake part, the manticore seems to be darker and also a bit more “draconic” looking but it seems to maintain its general shape. Both are relative small in these footages compared to other creatures. Scylla also was hinted at in one of the first screenshots and seemed there quite similar but it’s maybe hidden now cause ppl like me (who even liked the old version) criticised it really doesn’t look like myth Scylla at all.

You know what i just realized looking at the pictures and videos of Age of Mythology Retold? That it looks exactly like the rendered CGI intro of Ensemble Studios in the original Age of Mythology ( the pre-Steam version ) where it shows the globe, all three civilizations and the Nidhogg. Only of course Retold looks even better, but the fact that today we play games that look like what CGI looked 20 years ago still blows my mind.
It often doesn't hit cause we are used to the constant progress but the moment you stop for a second and compare it is incredible feeling. Cannot wait for this game ^^

I am equally impressed with the visual improvements on human soldiers as I am with the myth units. They also changed the sizes of all units to make them more realistic.

Am I the only one not a fan of the minotaur being a giant? I believe I've read the minotaur was supposed to be just above a human in the myth? not twice the size?? Am I wrong?? About 2 meters in height (7feet)

I really wish they would make the Minotaur a bit smaller. After all, it is supposed to be a beast with a bull's head and human body. Sure, a large body, but I think this is too much.

Lucky you, they said that a DLC would be a new chinese faction. Or on launch... i can't quite remember but i do remember that they used language that suggested the chinese will have a full rework. And a full on new civ which people assume to be the aztec.
I hope there are no expansions and the original Greek, Egyptian, Norse and atlanteans is more than enough
How do you avoid this info, it's everywhere... two announced expansions, the first one is a complete remake of the Chinese and the second one will be a new civ - no hints to which one. Mesoamerican most likely, but I would also love slavic. Beyond these, in the future, we could get an african or indian civ, but that would cover the main world mythologies without making it aoe2 de 45 civs

I disagree. I think units, buildings and environments look great so far. Not quite sure about the god portraits though. Overall i'm confident that Retold will be good. 🙂
