Nintendo really looked at us making flying machines in Breath of the Wild and said "what if that was a mechanic?". This is why Legend of Zelda is the best!
Yeah it's actually a real possibility. We know thanks to interviews that they saw videos of our flying machines and were literally left speechless by the creativity.

I love how most people’s first reaction to fusion arrows are “what does a meat arrow do???”

The fuse mechanic is such a genius way to save durability at the same time giving more items usabilities.

So many hours will be put into this game, my family will miss me dearly.

Macgyver style... if only Link had the same haircut 🤷🏽♂
My theory about the constructs is that the Ranger one is like a farmer who tends to the islands. While the ones that attack Link are guard constructs protecting the island. So they might not be evil; instead, they protect the islands.
When they killed the first one it said “soldier construct horn”
@@cajunking5987 I'm tired, so I must have glossed over that.
@@maichu6584 Maybe they fell off the islands when they were coming out of the ground, and the fall messed up their programming (I'm assuming they are robots), resulting in them attacking while on the ground instead of just on the islands. Or maybe I'm looking way too into this. 😅
So like a castle in the sky kinda deal? If that's the case, this would be the second time the Zelda team has taken inspiration from a studio Ghibli movie, with the first game being heavily inspired by Princess Mononoke
@@m.s.5370 Wait that makes so much sense!
This solves a massive issue with BOTW items: their limited use. If you never interacted with the cooking system, like i did, you'd quickly accumulate a ton of items. the only other thing you could do with them is to upgrade your armor and after that, items loose all value.
now even the Keese eyes have uses! an actual reason to hunt down enemies! no more running away because they aren't worth the 3 boko clubs to beat them all! Chuchu jelly aren't actually worthless!

Meat arrow idea: use it like bannanas for the yiga clan but for monsters. Shooting an arrow distracts monsters, but if there's meat attached, the distraction works even better. Plus, can give bokoblins a snack.
That already works. If you put meat or fruits near bokoblins, meat by moblins, or insects by lizalfos, they eat it. Attaching them to arrows would be fun, though.
meat arrow meta!!!
@@thedarkbard he meant that now you can choose where to shoot the meat
Oo, what if you could attach a banana to an arrow and do the same with the Yiga, put them exactly where you want them?
And maybe if you only wanted certain monsters distracted you could cater to the monsters diets!!
The swirl "shrine" thing... I believe that is where you can use the "ascend" ability to go all the way to the sky islands if there isn't a fallen boulder nearby
Ooh that's a good idea
@Zedix agreed. You can actually see the "point" at the bottom of the sky island (on the shown rewind of the stone lift) looks to be directly above that swirl "shrine". Just something to think about

Oh that fuse ability just made my hype go up so much. I was excited seeing the vehicles, but was afraid we’d have to go somewhere to craft them and would summon them with a rune thing.
But the fact that you can just make things anywhere you have the parts? So sick.

The fuse concept is actually genius. It's solving the durability problem and also giving so many items purposes. Even gives so many more ways for combat.

I really like how they took monster parts that no one (or at least me) never used and instead just cooked food for all my needs now have renewed uses and reasons not to just mass sell at the first vender when they fill up the inventory.
At 1:21:12 look at the mini map and you can see that there is a shrine activated and he has 4 hearts so I think that the place he is at is the beginner area and that’s the reason that part of the map is activated and I also assume your gonna have to complete a 4 shrine like thing again which he has already done which is why he already has his 4 hearts🙂
oooooooh
I dont think so, it would be repetitive if they added the same mechanic as in the last game, and nintendo wants this game to be GOOOOOD
Ok, so right as he says that there are multiple ways to get to the sky islands, he’s looking at one of the dragons. The dragons are also featured heavily in the background. Now, I might be reading too deep, but, assuming that nothing is an accident, what if link is able to catch rides on the dragons, after completing quests and the like.
On a different note, I wonder how they are going to deal with the fact that not everyone did the same stuff in BotW. It looks like there is a new minimap, and it looks like the hand stuff is replacing runes, so what happened to the Sheika Slate? Was it with Zelda when she fell? So many questions.

Don't get me wrong, my excitement to play this game has never been matched, breath of the wild was so special and I have always said I would give anything to play it again, and I feel like since it is the same map, it's going to give that experience. HOWEVER, part of what makes this game so exciting to me now is waiting to see what everyone else does. The community is multiplying my excitement tenfold
I also personally like the durability system as well, but it also seems like they fixed some complaints about it with the Fuse mechanic as well.
It grew on me but, I can see why people have problems. I have my complaints about it to.

big surpise for me to see the Zonai tech being used for enemies! Really intriged by this.
Also, I agree about weapon durability. I will die on that hill.
It made exploration in BOTW meanigful. The game threw weapons at you left and right, there are many many ways to get new/better weapons in that game, making durability a non-issue and only made combat thaty much more enjoyable IMO. Adding the Master Sword and re-makeable champions' weapons to the base weapons in the game gave us plenty of options.
No need to ever fear breaking your favorite weapon in BOTW. I hate to say it but if that held u back from enjoying the game fully I'd say that is a "you problem" not a "game problem."
At 48:00 I just wanted to say that Aonuma said that there were multiple ways to get up to the islands, so teleport waypoints might be possible still. There’s no promising that a piece of sky debris is going to fall down at the exact moment you want to go up to the islands (unless somehow they coded one to fall every time you got close?) so I think it’s mainly an early game way or a “let’s do it if it’s there” way to get up to the islands.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one super curious about the meat arrow
36:28 the blue line in the bottom right corner is a border between inactivated map areas. This means there is some kind of tower or map activation area.

May 12th cannot arrive soon enough!! Hopefully we'll see additional gameplay footage soon because this footage definitely wasn't enough on it's own to tide us over.
About durability:
I like the _concept_ of the durability system. I like what it is _trying_ to do. But I don't think it's well executed in the original game. In this game, even though durability technically hasn't changed, things like the fuse mechanic have changed how you have to interact with durability, and that may be enough to make the durability system achieve its goal properly.
I say it doesn't work in the original because, rather than making you switch up your weapons, it heavily incentivizes you to horde tons of cool weapons that you never use and only use your lowest damage weapons. The point was to mix up the gameplay, but the effect was to recreate the same flaw where you only use one weapon. Not to mention, it incentivized you to not fight enemies late game, since environmental ways to kill enemies get nerfed by their massive health pools, which IMO is just unfun.
Whether it actually does fix these issues is a question that won't be answered until the game comes out. But to me, it seems like Nintendo is taking this kind of strategy when addressing the shortcomings of BoTW on general, by allowing you to bend the rules if you're smart, and it's being tied in to the open world which I think is a very smart move. We see the same thing with stamina, where you can use Ascend to get past areas that would normally require stamina.
I think this is interesting, because this also shows they were aware that the environment became less important the further you progressed into the game. It was still more important than other oepn world games, but not as much as on the Great Plateau, and the changes being made here are trying to ensure that the environment remains more relevant late game, which I really like. Again, whether it works in practice remains to be seen, but it shows they are legitimately trying to improve the weak points of the original game, and they're doing it in ways that are pretty unique. It's not just because it's cool, many of these features are clearly addressing criticism.
Can’t wait to spend my whole summer completing this
I'm with you on the durability thing and I feel the same way about stamina. They force you to think around a problem and, as you said, use what you have. I also LOVED that there was no dungeon system(1 then 2 then 3...) in Breath of the Wild. I hope it stays true for this game.
Bottom line: You can't please everyone.
32:31 those green swirls are likely alternative ways to get to the sky islands should you not get one of those falling rock's to go to, to use RECALL to get to them.
Im not even kidding, there was a smile on my face that I couldn't wipe off while watching that. I'm literally so excited for this

If you look here, it gives you the option to fuse the rock with your club, meaning you can indeed fuse more than two things together.

Iirc in BoTW Kass also plays different tidbits of it when you do his shrine quests.
Y-axis is up in more than just Minecraft, its used that way in lots of game design or cad software. The logic being X,Y is like the dimensions of the screen and Z is going into the screen. Which is what you sort of said but didn't realize when you said Z is depth (the way you were talking about it, you meant height). So that third coordinate could be Y or Z. Just because traditionally Z is up in most engineering disciplines, doesn't mean that's how it is everywhere
X and Y is used for 2D, when adding a third dimension (usually height) its labled Z. Z = height/depth = +/- values. X is East-West, Y is North-South. It will be interesting to find the 0/0/0 place in hyrule...
“Ultra Hand” is the name of one of the oldest toys Nintendo made back when Gunpei Yokoi was president.
You’re one of the reasons I’m SO EXCITED for this game. I’m imagining the meme energy behind the Sidon bookshelf car but now with the ability to make REAL CARS. I cannot wait for people to figure out fun glitches and exploits for all the new stuff.
Korok with a backpack is worth the $70 price tag
The way the constructs freak out if they see you reminds me of the silent realms from Skyward Sword... perhaps more evidence for the time loop theory?
The fact that he mentions that the trees are unlike anything seen on the surface shows that the sky islands were not raised from the surface, but have been up there since before breath of the wild
1:14:47 - I wonder if by showing the log club as an option, that confirms fusing more than two items together. Or if that would replace the log with the rock.
This comes out right after finals for me! IM TREATING MYSELF 😄😄😄
Also, I think it’s not called Build because Ultrahand can be used to just move objects as well. I wanna attack a bunch of logs together and swing around a massive spear of logs to defeat foes.
Yeah it works like magnesis
The battery depletion varies between ground/water and air. You will need the larger battery to fly for longer periods. Thats whats good with the ballon.
PointCrow: I like the durability system!
Me: what's your favorite glitch?
Literally everyone: Menu overload \ durability transfer
i hope there’s not a fuse limit, i want to see people build mansions out of logs
The "green swirly shrines" are only green and swirly on the ground but not up in the air so it makes me think that they are another way to get up to the sky islands becuase he explicitly said "i hope you explore other ways to get up" so you go inside the "shrine" and use the ascend rune to ascend through the roof and the swirly things excelerate you up too the sky island.
I do agree with this theory, but one could also argue that the ones in the sky haven't been "activated" yet (or opposite, I guess) if we assume they are shrines
I feel like those spiral shrine things you have to fall into from above, and as you do it shrinks you down to picori size. then you go inside.
Preordered it yesterday. So excited!
Can’t wait to see modders add multiplayer so we can finally have Diddy Kong Racing 2: Tears of the Kingdom.
Wonder how durability will work with the fuse ability. If 2 low weapons fuse get full, or if they'll just combine numbers. So excited

PointCrow, when you have a CZcams video paused you can use the 'comma' and 'decimal' keys to move one frame backward or forward, respectively.
Might be a long shot, but maybe the shrine things are ways to get underground. They did show caves in a different trailer.
I like that idea.
What if they bring back the "Minish" concept they had and scrapped in BotW and that´s how you enter those mini structures by "minimizing" Link like in the Minish Cap? and they´re like shrines but you do them as mini Link, maybe the spiral green energy is what makes you little?
Alot of the cut content will likely return in some sort of way.
POINT CROW when Link was using ultra hand, it highlights the objects you can fuse in yellow, when making a boat, the giant block in the background was HIGHLIGHTED YELLOW!!!!
the new shrines could be proper dungeon entrances. if u can jump into the ceiling, then u should be able to dig down into caves!
1:14:47 shows that you can actually infinity infuse(so you can hold a 40meter broom to fight Ganon lmao) and 1:17:49 the big blocks in the distant left side also glows orange when infuse activates so maybe that can be a building block to (so you can do Minecraft or Lego stuff in Zelda maybe) omg I’m so so so excited!

Eric, i think the "Ultrahand" must be a reference to a (Nintendo) Original Kids toy from Japan.
I've come to the realization that I'm watching multiple reactions to this presentation as an excuse to watch it more. lol!
@1:14:46 it gives the option to fuse the rock to the weapon which is already fused. This implies you will be able to fuse multiple objects!

Everyone needs to buy this so Nintendo can see the fans want Zelda and more amazing games can be produced
monster parts are now op af
They were teasing things left and right the entire time and I want the game now so I can go and find it all out
I do believe that the Zonai primarily use the dragon deity in their construction (at least around the ruins in BotW). The dragon is associated with the Triforce of Power...Owl with Wisdom...something else for Courage that I can't remember. Maybe that's why the constructs/Zonai tech is fighting with Ganondorf. Either that, or based on what we know already, the Zonai were a strong race that based things on strength and power...so maybe that's why they have a hard on for the beast man.
You know there's going to be a puzzle where you have to use coordinates to get exactly below or above a specific world location 😅
Plz that would be awesome
My thoughts exactly. I will run for the 0/0/0 coordinate.
I really REALLY wonder if we will get other powers than the ones we saw here, i mean, we all remember the trailers of the first Zelda botw, wich show us the skeika slate's abilities but WE got other power in the game, those of the champion, si i Hope that will be the case here again. What do you think ?
To address the "Y is height" thing
On a 2D plain graphs and use 'y' to denote the height of the graph. Some software and games apply this logic to 3D spaces, which is an easy mistake to make. In 3D spaces we use Z to mark height.
The best way to think of this in my opinion is to imagine a 2D graph on the floor. The y axis would point forwards and the X axis would point to the right. The Z axis therefore would point upwards. If you are having trouble imagining this, draw a graph on some paper and place it on the floor.
Hope this helps with any confusion
Theory; death mountains malice is teased in botw when daruk is in the cutscene with link, and the boulder falls from the mountain
It's the Z axis chatters, when he rode the rock up into the sky the X and Y stayed the same and the Z axis went from 50 to 500. It's not hard
They were talking about definitions, whether the coordinates were xyz or xzy. Most people seemed to know the last one was height, they just didn't agree on whether that last one was called y or z
I bet you could use a meat arrow to distract certain enemies. Or wolves.
1:17:49 You can see the large blocks in the background also light up, like you can attach stuff to these parts of the world.
