  • In this video we will share a demo review of the Mooer GE 300 lite that is an amp modeling and Multi effects pedalboard, pretty light and small that fits between the Mooer GE 250 and the GE 300. First of all we will share a double demo song hearing the GE 300 lite in action, then we will describe the main characteristics of the unit, then we will hear more sounds in a dedicated section of this video and finally I will give you my two cents. At the very end, I will live you with the unboxing experience. So I hope you enjoy and please subscribe and hit the bell, it’s gonna really help me to make more videos like this!

    Hi, first of all, thank you for all your great comments that really enrich this video! Few updates here:
    -- I've received the prices from Mooer: Different countries might have different prices, but this is the "starting point": $549 USD, €549 Euro, ₤499 GBP
    -- We have noticed a discrepancy between the Mooer Web Site, where it is reported that the looper last 30 seconds and the user manual (that you can download from the Mooer Web site), where there is reported that the looper last 30 minutes. I've tested by myself and the looper lasts 30 seconds: I've asked clarification to Mooer and they confirmed that the looper last 30s.
    Thank you once more for all your messages!

      Hi Leo, first off I LOVE your channel,videos and playing. Thank you for the content. I am currently in the market for a unit/stomp/processor. I have basically narrowed my decisions down to this Mooer GE 300 lite or the Ampero II Stomp... which one do you think I should go with??

    I juste pick up one and I'm very happy with it despite the fact the software have a critical issue on Windows and doesn't work.
    Good to know: on the amp simulation section, the power amp can be disabled by choising "Off" on the tube selection which is quite usefull if the Multi-effects is plugged in the FX Loop return of a real amp.

    Two questions:
    First: aren't you afraid that with your pro-playing ANY gear sounds great?

      As regards the first question, I don't think I'm doing something special, and I typically use pretty simple settings. Of course how I use the pick or I touch the strings could influence the tone, but I thing that if the modeler sounds bad...well, I wouldn't be able to make it sound good.

  • @rubbun
    @rubbun Před 2 lety +1

    Hey Leo! I ended up buying this unit basically after watching your videos. You really ended up convincing me!
    However, my output signal when recording is very low, forcing me to increase the volume by 8+db. This is through USB. I was wondering if you had this issue at all?
    I also wanted to know if you'd recommend recording through an external audio interface, and if so, which one would you recommend?
    Thanks!

    • @LeoGibsonGtr
      @LeoGibsonGtr  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi, I'm using a Mac and I don't encounter this issue.
      In order to obtain better results I think you should buy a pretty high level audio interface: using the GE 300 via USB you basically have only one conversion, I mean the one from analog to digital that the GE 300 performs. If you buy an audio interface you would go through two more conversion stages: Analog to digital and then back digital to analog performed by the GE 300 and then analog to digital again performed by the Audio interface. For me this is worth only if you have an high end audio interface and you add a preamp in the chain before the audio interface, like an API 512, which provides you with some specific nuances that you may like.
      Thank you!

    Tho 1 question I hope you can answer. Are you aware or know how to switch channels on your amp via the ge300. I have seen a video on CZcams were the guy uses 5 cables, it's not in English and he doesn't go into detail on how he does it.
    I can paste a link to his video if you like to see it.
    I would like to know how I could set up the ge300 to do this with amp.

    • @LeoGibsonGtr
      @LeoGibsonGtr  Před 3 lety

      Hi, in order to switch the channels of your amp you should use the EXP 2 out of the Mooer GE 300. In the video you are mentioning maybe the author is using the 4 method cable to connect the amp to the Mooer and then the fifth cable for channel switching. The 4 cable method allows you to put some effects before the pre amp and other after.
      Thank you for your message and sorry for late answering...

    • @LeoGibsonGtr
      @LeoGibsonGtr  Před 3 lety

      Hi Rafale, well...I don't know if there is a clear winner, I think it depends on your needs. For sure one of the great feature of the GE 300 is the possibility to profile amp with the GE Labs app and for instance you can profile your own amp with pretty good results. It also has more foot switches to better support live gigging. On the other hand the HX Stomp is smaller and lighter and it has line 6 effects, if you like them. So, I think they are very different machine for different needs and the choice really depends on what you need.
      Thank you for your message and sorry if I can't be more "definitive"

I've been watching your videos since I was looking for the Blackstar (8 months ago)

    Hi Leo, I'm a big fan of your video comparisons and reviews. They are done very well! I was wondering if you could answer a question for me? I have the GE 250 and it has a "Cab Sim Thru" feature which allows you to bypass the cab sims to the 1/4" outputs while at the same time sending the cabs sims to the XLR outputs. I was hoping this feature would be available on the GE 300 Lite, but after consulting the online manual it appears that you can only have the choice of the fully effected signal or a dry signal! No mention of cab sim options. Is that the way it is or was the description just worded wrong? I would like to be able to send everything except the cab sims to my guitar amp, while at the same time sending everything, including cab sims, to my mixer. Thank you!

    I was wondering about 2 things. The first one would be: how does the mooer ge 300 lite feel against line 6 helix? Would you say that it feels better, equal or inferior?
    And, last one, do you think would work great for small gigs? I've read that there is no gap when you switch presets (that would be great considering that this unit does not have scenes function).

      I noticed that I didn't do a direct comparison MG 300 vs Helix....and the feel is such a subjective thing...I should do a direct comparison to answer, even if I would say that there shouldn't be a drastic difference. As regards small gigs, I think it works great. I have to say that I'm not so picky in terms of preset switching...therefore for me the MG 300 is fine.

    Does this have any presets geared towards bass guitar? And how does the MIDI out work? Does it take your electric guitar playing and convert it to a MIDI signal?

    • @LeoGibsonGtr
      @LeoGibsonGtr  Před 4 lety

      Hi Gary, until now no presets for bass are available (as far as I know). No, it does not convert the guitar in MIDI signal. in order to convert the guitar in midi signal you would need something like the Fishman triple play, that you can check out in this video: czcams.com/video/iomSIORjLnI/video.html

    Ciao Leo, grande!!!....
    Vista la review della GE300 Lite mi è sembrato che a parte il Tone capture che supporta anche chitarre e speaker ci troviamo nei fatti di fronte a poco piu che una GE250 per di piu senza pedale d'espressione ad un prezzo (SEMBRA) di pochissimo inferiore alla GE300 "completa".
    A questo punto mi chiedo:
    Ma che senso ha questa macchina?
    Per 400/450 euro posso prendere la GE250 che è praticamente uguale (salvo che il tone capture replica solo gli ampli, che poi è la funzione piu interesasnte) e in piu ho gia un pedale di espressione, cosa che si traduce in un risparmio netto di 100/150 euro...
    Se invece le caratteristiche della GE250 mi sembrano insufficenti o necessito di loop stereo, synth ecc... a quel punto non mi resta altro che prendere la GE300 full visto che questa lite non le offre.
    Tu che ne pensi?
    Io sinceramente pensavo di prendere la GE250 e dopo questo video NE SONO ANCORA PIU CONVINTO!!!!
    P.s. Perche non fai una comarativa tra la GE250 e la GE300 lite??

      Ciao Emiliano, si, devo fare una comparativa tra 250 300 e 300 lite...devo trovare il tempo. Quando faccio le comparative riesco ad ascoltare bene i suoni ed a verificare le caratteristiche tecniche. "A caldo", se non ricordo male le specifiche, per me il 300 lite ha due selling point vs 250: la possibilità di usare 2 microfoni contemporaneamente nella simulazione dei cab ed il num più elevato di foot-switch. La mancanza dell'exp pedal si risolve con un pedale di exp esterno (che cmq costa....). Per la decisione finale secondo me bisognerà attendere ... la mia comparativa...:) scherzo. Grazie per la domanda!
      Hi Emiliano, yes, I have to make a comparison video between 250 300 and 300 lite ... I have to find the time. When I make the comparison videos I listen to the sounds carefully and I check out the technical characteristics. My first impressione is that, if I remember correctly the specifications, the 300 lite has two selling points vs 250: the possibility to use 2 microphones simultaneously in the simulation of the cab and the highest number of foot switches. The lack of the exp pedal can be solved with an external exp pedal. For the final decision I would wait my comparison video... :). Thanks for the question!

I've tested by myself and the looper lasts 30 seconds: I've asked clarification to Mooer and they confirmed that the looper last 30s."

    • @LeoGibsonGtr
      @LeoGibsonGtr  Před 4 lety +2

      Hi Matt, I'm a little bit a nerd of the converters...but I think that the differences are more related to the way Mooer and Boss create their amp models more than on the 24 bit vs 32 bit, and the 114 dB of dynamic range offered by the 300 lite, is already a pretty good value. Maybe if we could have the same unit, with the same algorithms and the same models, then we could make an A/B test. Thank you for your message!

I've tested by my self and it last 30 seconds, so you are right, thank you for noticing it!!! Personally, I dislike Mooer processors. It's hard to describe, but they feel very 'square' to me and very unnatural. Hotone still has this feeling, but much less, and with IRs is actually really impressive, which may be due to the sound being more scooped.
    My favourite is still the gt1000. It has that unique Boss sound.
