How similar is RENT to the opera it's based on | Jonathan Larson musical vs Puccini's La Boheme

Watching Tick Tick Boom now which lead me down this wonderful rabbit hole. Thank you so much for sharing your insights regarding the similarities and differences. Rent continues to be my all time favorite musical, but I love that I know have seen and enjoyed La Boheme as well.

I like that in Rent Angel kills a dog, whereas in La Boheme it’s a parrot haha
