"You used to put me in the corner, so you could see the fear in my eyes
Then took me downstairs and beat me till I screamed and I cried
Congratulations, you'll always have a room in my mind" are such incredible lyrics (also, for anyone who's not familiar with Nathan's life story, the lyrics are literal, he's said it in an interview.)
He talks about his anger issues ("I put holes in the walls with both of my fists till they bleed, you might get a glimpse of how I cope with all this anger in me") and how, like many abuse victims, he's been dismissive of how severe and serious his abuse had been and especially how much it affects him after ("Feels like I missed my alarm and slept in".)
Yet in that same song, he talks about it directly and in detail, which takes a lot of bravery (especially since his abuser may still be alive and hear it.)
He truly shows how far he's gone in getting over his past, but also how much it still affects him.
He is one of the most phenomenal lyricists I've ever seen.

You missed a good bit about the song first it's not an actual mansion it's about how he built a mansion in his mind second he said my mind is a house with walls covered in pain but my problem is I don't fix things I just try to repaint cover them up like it never happened so he's trying to hide all of his pain bc he's scared that if he tells anyone about what's happened behind that door then they might look at him differently or leave like he said that if he let anyone in that room they might disappear and not come back so that where the fear comes in and at the end of the song you missed a big part about how he built the house so he could have a place to store all of those thoughts and memories that's why he said I didn't build this house cause I thought it would salve his problems he hid his emotions because he doesn't like abandonment so he built it because it was safer in there then he start talking about fear and how he knows he needs to fix his problems because of the first part insidious is blind inception and he started to wake up and realize that the thing he thought would be safer is actually leading him to a path that is much worse and he knows that he has take the fear out of his house and put it back outside where it came from but in order to do that he'd have to open the doors and let everybody know what's been happening in his life and get help

mike o I dont know why Therapy Session and How Could You Leave Us made you laugh, but they’re honest lyrics from him. It might sound dramatic to you, but that’s reality for him. It’s the authenticity in his music that makes people love him. He’s not just talking about partying and do drugs in every song. His rawness and openess is appealing to a lot of people. I think that’s why a lot of people like him. Also, his songs just sound cool overall

@@big-fish1199 if his life is really like that than id say he portrays it very overdramatically. Also you smwntioned he just doesnt go to parties and does drugs. What does doing drugs and partying have to do with being overdramatic? For a lot of people a consumerist lifestyle is reality.

    • @Beatriz_MS
      @Beatriz_MS Pƙed 5 lety +4

@@alt-post-neo-experimental-3715 Well, honestly, HCYLU isn't over dramatic, I won't dive into the psychological aspects that make the song not overdramatic but it isn't. Overall, most people see the appeal because most of them struggled with the same things he has, and he has a way of making the songs relatable even for someone like me, that has a loving family and never been through what he has.
He has one of the best productions in the game right now and that helps a great deal when it comes to lyrics.
Particularly, the ability he has to connect things that are set years apart from each other (Mansion that connects to HCYLU and Intro III) and many other examples shows that he knows what he's doing.
      It's like reading a book.
And honestly, if you think he's arrogant I'm sorry but your perception is a little bit off. Regardless, everyone is arrogant in their own ways, is human nature, you may think that you're not but you are (I'm not talking personally about you, just a general statement).
Psychologically speaking, he talks about depression and other issues in a way it makes it easier for people to project, because its general and personal at the same time, it's like a so called "medium" that says "I see someone with brown eyes with kind soul in your future", it's a blank, general statement, but it's also personal enough for you to connect with and associate with someone in your life.
In that sense, he's playing the perfect game.
Lyrics wise, again, once you realize he's making connections, you find yourself wanting to know more - therefore he makes people curious, makes them want to know more -, he used the song as a marketing strategy, and it's brilliant not only because of that but also because songs like these are the songs that cause the most insight/discussion, it serves as fuel to the very brand.
You're always looking for clues and tips, always paying attention to the details and finding things you haven't before.
