    I love potatoes anyway they are cooked or served up, especially french fries. We plant and harvest around 1000lbs a year in our garden every summer and I love watching these farming videos and see how the big boys do it.

    50 years ago I had the task of cutting a sack of potatoes into 5mm fingers and assessing the cooking temp and time. That was how the company developed what was then called "chiplets"

    Not about potatoes, but about the center pivot. I used to see hundreds of red plastic cups in a field by the place I worked. That is how they measured how many inches of water it was putting out.

    I grew up in Eastern Oregon . A place that grows potatoes for the Lamb Weston Manufacture. They make French fries among other potato products. Is extremely interesting to see how this has changed over the years

      Yes “fries” were invented in Belgium BUT French fries were invented by the French hence the name, French fries have a certain size, shape and taste. American fries have a certain size shape and taste. Just because something was invented in a certain place doesn’t mean varieties can’t be called different things.

      Not correct. The term French fries was a mistake because we they were invented in the French speaking part of Belgium. Lookup the video’s to learn or visit Belgium. I live in Belgium and know my roots😁

Are you saying American fries are the same as Belgium fries or UK fries are the same? There are many many varieties of “fries” throughout the world. Just because fries were invented in Belgium doesn’t mean people can’t call them french fries in other places

      The name might be exotic to you but these things have always been called ‘French fries’ in North America. ‘Chips’ in Canada and the US are what Brits call ‘crisps’. Different regions, different vernacular. End of lesson!

    Please STOP calling all fries "French fries".
    French Fries have a diameter of 6mm while normal fries have a diameter of 9 or 10mm
    Chunkies are 10mm by 20mm and Grandma's fries are 12mm in diameter.
    I should know, I have worked in a fries factory as a quality inspector.
