It's more bad timing than anything in favour of the lizard league. I actually like how it turned out in the show as well, think about it all the heavy hitters were assigned to go to space at the worst possible time for Rex Duplicate and shrinking ray/rae. I love that sense of unpredictableness in the comics, and it's translated well in the show too. If they had aleast least one of the volunteers who went to space stay behind than they would've been enough to make a difference.

Gotta say, Rex Did a great job here for his limited powers. Despite being traumatized by the death of his allies he successfully took out Two Lizard league members by himself, and even told King lizard to "Just do it" after he pointed a gun at him. Gotta hand it to rex, he's far more mature then he lets on and his character development is brilliant.

This whole scene served to show how Mark was wrong when he said that the world doesn't need him. With somebody at his level this fight would have been entirely different. This world needs him, and this scene showed exactly why. Even joke-level villains will gruesomely murder low level heroes.
Kirkman is showing us superheroes from a slightly more realistic angle; even ridiculous clowns like these aren't exempt from some atrocious deeds. Actually, the fact that they're so inconspicuous and with a totally nonsense motivation makes them all the more scary.

We've seen her go up against that same exact type of villain and win in season one, so the fact that she didn't do that and instead just randomly crushed herself makes it not as bad. Okay, the main reason they failed was because Rex Splode and Dupli-Kate were fighting opponents that weren't a good match for them. Rex is a medium-range fighter, so his abilities would have been a better match for the slower Komodo Dragon. Dupli-Kate is a close-in fighter, so she would have been a better match for Iguana. Having a ranged fighter going against an agile melee fighter and pairing a melee fighter with normal human strength fagainst a super-strong tank is just begging for a massacre.
Ok you are a 100% right, I'm pretty sure they did this for drama but I like to think they showed us how important is to have a good/smart leader capable of strategies in the moment

Yeah, just them three were not suited for this kind of fight alone, and the results were devastating. They usually have a leader to help coordinate strategy, and on top of that they let their guard down. Just a few small mistakes cost so much.

Honestly, for the most part, the Lizard League did suck. The claw girl didn't even lay a finger on Rex until he started panicking, and even then she lost. The orange dude doesn't even have powers (or if he does, he forgot about them just like I did). The big guy was practically the entire team.
No they don’t suck we’re just used to having gods fight the scrubs, for A tier and B tier they’re nightmares especially when your super power isn’t super durability. They are pretty good actually not bad coordination but they would get shit on had rex been trained to be a leader and coordinate his team seeing as Rex can kill them in a single blow

It made more sense in the comic why he didn’t attempt to grow back. He got chewed first just like in animation here, but for some reason the girl counterpart was somehow conscience enough after being chewed to try to grow back. That was a worse way to go because this implied she was alive enough to get that slow agonizing death of being crushed and then eventually swallowed

@@_Cetarial I think weak is a poor choice of words. Though this was 100% a bad match up for a typical super hero fight. Nobody on the hero team had a good non-lethal way to take out Kimodo dragon. Shrinking ray would have had the best chance if she could get access to his inner ear cannel but his masked stopped ear access. Rexsplode could hurt him but to do so non-lethally would have been very hard. That left Duplikate to try and overwelm him with numbers. Its still a bad match up but its the best they had for the non-lethal route.
Ya they could have won with no losses if they used lethal force to start but
A) There was nobody experienced enough on this team to make that call.
B) Even if Cecial told them to use lethal force before hand they probably wouldn't have until kated died anyways. They're heros they don't kill unless they have too.
The Lizard league is known to suck and all these heros are pretty young.
C) This is more Cecial fault then theirs. I love Cecial i think he a great character but loads of people who went on space mission shouldn't have for this exact reason. Even if they were all needed Cecial couldn't find them any backup or equipment?
Main point is I think these characters where great and I'm going to miss them.

Rae’s death was so unexpected. I thought she’d grow into a giant like ant man but when I saw that blood burp I was genuinely shocked

I love the detail of Komodo eating one of the enhancements that charges Rex’s explosions and it kinda overcharged the coin after being disconnected during the charging process. This show just keeps getting better and better.
No you’re wrong Rex’s hand exploded rex can use his body as an explosive and it’s like 100x the normal power of his explosions enough to even kill a full powered viltrumite if he ignited himself. He probably blew his hand up in his mouth unconsciously or maybe you’re right

She does. Even in the animation she explains that she has multiple bodies on standby.
You'd think there is always one Duplikate who is the "real" one and lives more or less a normal boring life, existing to make sure the hero version of herself can't permanently die.
She did.
You never see the "original" she never leaves her safe house, and nobody else knows about it.
She feels the broken bones , traumatic injuries and their deaths and this was a really bad fight , so she's curled up in a ball sobbing hysterically and will let the World think she's dead.
She'll come back to Immortal after she's had time to get her head back on straight.

I blame Rex, Kate and Rae for their own demise. Their powers are amazing but they just go there and punch people:
- Give DupliKate a sword/knife and EVERY copy of her would be armed.
- If Shrinking Rae whole shtick is that she can be deadly by going inside people... then give her a fcking blade or explosives!
- And Rex, who is basically Gambit, why does he just throw coins? At least Gambit knows a few card tricks that gives him better edge..
Give Kate an SMG, body armor, and all the training of one of Cecil's ops teams. She'd have been a one-person PMC.

The underestimated their opponent and paid for it. absolutely brutal, they should have team up like they did when Invincible was beaten up by battle beast. Duplikate could use Rex explosive materials to kill all of them. it was a 2 Heros job if they had a little intelligence but as i said they underestimated them.
Except they had experienced leaders like black Samson to coordinate the team Rex is not a leader nor was he trained to be one although if he was he and his team would erase the lizard league
This scene gethers all I want from movies' fight scenes :
- Accurate powerscale
- Balanced matchup
- Both team actually trying to kill each other (heroes AND villains)
- Realistic and uncensored injuries
- Any character can die, less plot armor
- Heroes suffering immediate and dreadful consequences of their mistakes
“Less plot armor”, you do know that all the protagonists survived this scene, right? Even the one who got crushed and eaten alive somehow survives, shrinking ray died after being eaten in the comics but survived here for some bullshit reason, that is plot armor

The two girls didn't have enchanced strength and durability to go along with their powers unlike Rex. All the strong dudes were in the other team.
It was very much doable. The komodo man hard carried the lizard team, if they actually scouted that dude out first and had a genuine plan it was doable. However, it would rely on Rex striking his hard hitting abilities on him to quickly get rid of him before moving to the fodder.
They were being poorly led. Kate should have spammed clones to tie up Iguana and Salamander while Rex and Rae took down Komodo Dragon. Rae already showed she was capable of beating a super-strong opponent, and with Rex distracting him she would have been able to get into his ear and incapacitate him. Then they mop up the other two. What this scene showed is that they fall apart without good leadership.

@@blacky8987 Also an okay tactic, but Rae's powers would let her reliably and quickly take him down if she can just get to his head without him noticing, as we saw during the Guardian tryouts. Rex actually has the power to kill Komodo Dragon outright if he lets loose with his explosive powers, but he has to be careful because a blast strong enough to disable or kill Komodo Dragon would probably wreck the building and hurt or kill he allies. Generating explosions really isn't a great power for super-hero because there is so much potential collateral damage. Komodo Dragon doesn't have to hold back at all, and Rex does, so he's at a serious disadvantage.
Very few fight scenes make my heart pound after watching a dozen times but this takes the cake. I wonder how conquest will be
Rex is quickly becoming my favorite character.
You gotta give it to the likes of Dupli-Kate and Shrinking Ray; Barr their powers they're regular humans. A knives to the back would out them down, but they're still out here.
