Greenfire farms are good , bought eggs from them on line and have good success in hatching .
Awesome
Can you ship few breeders of indio gigante to India?
Good breed❤
How early can you tell male and female?
How much did it cost?
How much chicks?
Can i buy eggs of this breed? How much?
I just hatched my first hutch (?) of Indio Gigante eggs, only got three out of ten eggs but it was my first try so I’m not complaining. I have some questions and would greatly appreciate any help you could give me.
1. Can I keep them with my other chickens? I have about twenty laying hens and a rooster.
2. Will they crossbreed with other breeds?
3. My giants are 10 weeks old but it is only in the 40F’s during the day and in the teens at night, can I put them out side yet? Yeah bad timing on my part, I will hatch the next batch this spring.
4. Can they fly? Some of my other chickens just show up during the day then disappear at night rather than go in the coop.
I think I have a rooster, will he challenge my current rooster?
Again thank you for any help you can give me
1. Yes, they can be housed with other breeds as long as the other breeds are also large Fowl. Don’t keep them with bantam breeds.
2. Yes, cross breeding is possible.
3. I would wait to put them outside. But if you have an enclosed coop then you can put them outside now if you can add heat for them until they get older. A heater plate would be nice. The IG aren’t very cold hardy since they lack most of the fluff that other breeds have. As adults they are more likely to fare okay throughout those temps.
4. They aren’t the best at flying. They can jump up to a perch that’s about 3’ high pretty easily but as for flying up to perch in a tree- I doubt that they will be able to do that.
5. Yes, as with all chicken groups there is a heirarchy. So you should expect the rooster to challenge the other one. Once the heirarchy is established they should be able to coexist. Email us orders@greenfirefarms.com if you want some tips on rooster integrations!
Thank you for your help. I think I’m just going to keep them inside a while longer and build them a warmer coop of their own and I will look forward to ordering some more eggs from you this spring. @@greenfire_farms
Where is your location?
Just a minor critique of the name: These birds originate in Brazil, but you’re using a different language’s pronunciation to say their name, instead of Portuguese. Personally, if I didn’t just pronounce it in English, I’d use the Portuguese pronunciation, just to pay homage to its country of origin.

ill order some eggs from you one day! I am a new farmer and I want to work with birds like yours. Potential poultry vet here. I have a go fund me to donate all my first year's (2025) eggs to Hawaii Food Bank. I plan on getting permitted to bring eggs to market. Aside from eggs I would love to breed chickens and experience the differences between breeds and see if I am any good at improving them.
My personal capstone for my ag degree I will be getting starting this fall will be to start an egg producers co-op in Hawaii Oceanview Estates. I have a go fund me started too. "help brandon feed hawaii with fresh eggs"
