One of the indigenous actors disappeared for a few days and when he came back and they were asking him what happened he told them “I talked to the bush and they said Dennis is crazy”. The director just looked at him and said “I could have told you that”
Ronan, I’ve read the cast and crew went to a pub in Holbrook at the time and david gulpilil had issues getting in due to being aboriginal. Apparently Dennis Hopper stuck up for him and they eventually let him in

great joke
I have read that they never knew from day to day if Hopper would be on set drunk, high or both.
Part of this was filmed at Yarra Yarra station just outside of Holbrook...some of my family were extras!

"The aboriginaries." 8:45
good show.
No pretentious shown in the making of quality movies in the seventies ,everybody would have worked hard for each other , just sayin .
2.26 Thylacine!
flamethroa A GOOD mock up! Had me fooled for a sec too!
@Justin Yoder MIGHT need to visit Specsavers!
It makes a quick appearance in the film.
This movie should be reviewed by Jason Brandt of 'So Bad, It's Good' fame. Was Dennis Hopper drunk or high?
Yes he got arrested drunk driving while filming and thrown into Wangaratta jail
he was called 'Mad Dog' due to his violently erratic unpredictable behaviour. Stop romanticising killers.
That's why Dennis Hopper was perfect for the role.
Oily and good.
