5 key areas - James 1:12-15
Temptation is common to each one of us.
1. Tempted to give up.
Guard your heart from unbelief. Don’t get carried away by negative thoughts. Conviction can only come by The Word of God and His Holy Spirit. Surround yourself with Believers who carry the Fire of The Holy Spirit of God. 1 Corinthians 15:33. Evil company corrupts good habits. Develop patience and long suffering; learn to persevere James 5:7-8. As you wait on The Lord you will the fruits. We will unfortunately see many children of God giving up.
2. Temptation of Compromise
John 17:17
Your Faith will be tested to see how genuine it is. 1 Peter 6:7 Don’t compromise when your faith is being tested. God’s promises will be tested. Psalm 105:17-19 Joseph was tested for 13 years, we must learn to hold onto God’s Promises. Guard your heart from deception - James 1:16. This is the year that you will need to challenge yourself to spend more time in the presence of God. 2 Timothy 2:15.
3. Tempted to be your old self
Your flesh will try and provoke you through your behaviour and speech. Learn to silence the voice of the flesh which is your old self. 2 Corinthians 5:17. Be focused on the new life God has given you. Bring yourself under Biblical discipline. 1 Corinthians 9:26-27.
4. Temptation to show off with Pride
The word of God does NOT endorse showing off. Christianity in some ministries has unfortunately become like a branding exercise.
5. Temptation to commit sexual immorality
Sometimes there is no need to pray just flee the situation; Joseph and Potiphar is a perfect example 1 Corinthians 6:18 & 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8.
Discern the exit door God makes for you in these areas. 1 Corinthians 10:13. You must be a person who walks in Holiness this year, so that you don’t walk in sexual perversion 1 Corinthians 5:1-2 & 1 Corinthians 10:12.
If you think you are “strong” in these areas, you should take heed.
