  • Previously, we made a video on the signs you're an INFJ. But what are the signs you're NOT an INFJ? What makes someone an INFJ- the rarest personality type in the world? Out of the groups of personality types, the two most similar and mistyped are INFJ and INTJ. They are both reserved, intuitive, goal-oriented, and big-picture thinkers. However, the difference lies in how each approaches the world. Here are a few signs you're not an INFJ.
If you're wondering about the videos about the signs you're an INFJ, here's the link to it: • 8 Signs You’re An INFJ...

I'm not as attracted to humanitarian jobs because I like peace and quiet and really enjoy the weather so I want to be a meteorologist. I'm still in the emotional support part for my friends and random other people but it's not something I'd do professionally. Partially because I don't like the thought of charging people money for emotional support, or just to have someone to go to.

This is the only thing I've ever tested as. However, I prefer to be extremely loud, brash, vindictive and aim to over-achieve. Likely due to unique circumstance and trauma. So I guess the only advice I can give?
It has to be fun. Or important. Now, just follow me here.
I was volunteered very young for a 'running club', got taken to a public event without prior knowledge, and _still_ remember realizing there were cameras going off in the bleachers. The anxiety hindered my performance when I was _told_ I was participating. I did not take this well. Hundreds of people saw/recorded me both fail, and let down my peers. Before I was ten. Within a year, I'd eclipsed everyone in my new school. The humiliation I felt at such a young age, forced me to redouble my efforts. For that first year, I kicked up clumps of dirt like I was swinging a golf club as I ran. This stuck for years, and I, honestly, was able to run short-distance at sub-olympic speeds. Hell, I had to chase a _bus_ for like three blocks three years after I _quit running._ It went from a source of frustration, to a point of pride. I learned to TRY to achieve, because _I could._ I have other examples, but that may be the most prudent.
Besides that, I was regarded extremely highly in my youth, and while I take challenges seriously, there is NOTHING I enjoy more than being rivaled. Not beaten. Not lorded over. Equal. Because I know, no matter the outcome, it will make ME better. Plus it's going to be fun as all hell.
It's a mindset that... I guess, I organically grew into. Because I took the idea seriously. Because through introspection, I was able to change. Rise to the challenge. _Because I can._
(Infact, that might be part of it. There hasn't been and will NEVER be a situation, where I _won't_ tell myself, implicitly, that _"I_ am Enough. I am sufficient."- and I _have_ been. Learn to love testing yourself. I guess you could say I became addicted to that first time I did, and _surprised_ myself.)

@@magne7771 That’s a lovely story! I’m proud of you man.
I’ve always been the top of my class. I could never run very fast, but my arm strength is kind of weirdly out of proportion. I have maybe 200 kids in my entire school. Everyone knows everyone. Everyone knows I’m the top of my class. Everyone hates me for it. I’ve been bullied and teased and pranked for anything I succeed at. Whenever I try to let myself out of the imaginary box of anxiety, my classmates shove me right back in. I bet there’s enough crazy rumor about me to right a book. Trust no one, speak only if you know their intentions, always be on high guard. It exhausts me. Terrifies me. I’m their favorite target, not that they have many, there being only 30 kids in my class. I want to get courage, but it’s so hard, knowing that they’ll hate me for every success.

What Psych has done here are the stereotypes of INFJ, which are close but also far cry from the usual and typical INFJs you see in real life.
I am an INFJ with 6w7 SX/SP in Enneagram.
That 6w7 you see there? That means I am more outgoing than the usual core 4 or 5 INFJs.
You see that Sx for instinct? That means I am not comfortable with challenge but I will do it if it makes me be the better person. That sx means my reactions to things are completely different from the typical INFJ. :)

Remember that knowing your personality type is a way that you can use to improve yourself and grow! If you're a INFJ and relate to any trait of this video, remember that you don't have to take it for granted if you don't want to! Everyone have strengths and weakness (like said on the video) and it's in your own power to make the difference that you really want in your live.
Every personality type is amazing in it own way, but sometimes the INFJ personality can be misunderstood for being the most "rare" personality type (it isn't anymore), always remember that rare doesn't mean being special or better than anyone else.
The MBTI theory is more about preferences than strict behaviors, so don't stick yourself to just one pattern if you're not comfortable with that.

I was in therapy in my early twenties and my therapist gave me a personality test to take. He didn't say who created the test. He told me what my personality type was by giving me an example of what I might do in a certain situation. Just a few years ago I came across the Briggs/Myers personality test and took it out of curiosity. I recognized it as the exact same test my therapist had given me years before. The results said I'm an INFJ. My therapist's explanation for my personality type was this: He said if I was standing in line for movie tickets and someone cut in front of me, I likely wouldn't say anything, but if there was a child in front of me and someone cut in front of him, I would immediately confront the one who cut and literally make him go to the back of the line. My family has always said, "You favor the underdog". I wasn't sure what that meant. I just always hated seeing someone weaker being picked on. It made me furious. The first ten years of my life were filled with trauma and uncertainty, a lot of conflict and anger. I hate the yelling and fighting, and used to go off by myself with a book just to get away from it. I always just thought it was because I'm a pacifist, but I realize now there is more to it than that. My therapist showed me how to defend and take up for myself without losing the natural empathy I have, and I will always be grateful for that. Before I learned how to do that, I was pretty much a target for anyone to take advantage of.

INTJ's hate conflict just as much... Conflict is awful, non-productive, and a waste of valuable time.
As for the underdogs (although I certainly can't speak for all INTJ's) I've noticed this trend with myself also. I can't seem to speak up for me, but when it comes to someone I perceive has a lesser capability of standing up for themselves I feel a need to intervene on their behalf. I know the INTJ type is largely seen as a bad guy or behind the scenes, but I just wanted to throw that out there since I can't seem to clarify my type.
      - Sincerely, someone who types both INFJ and INTJ consistently and apologizes to everyone at the grocery store lol.

I'm always the only one out of the group who did not have conflict with anyone and would be the middle person they go to, in case there's conflicts.
I do not like being in crowded places and would find ways to help someone in need, whenever I heard bout them... This also meant that, I'm often taken advantage of. Because I felt sorry for people too easily.. I just can't help it..

I don't want to go around just _spreading opinions,_ but...
The only people I've ever felt sorry for were _innocent victims._ People without a trail of ruined lives, picked functionally at random. I'll admit, I have a very persecutory mindset because of it. However, I can confidently say, I've _protected_ more people, than have taken advantage of me, by being this way.
I will also admit, that it made me proactive. The type to intervene when someone _were_ to take advantage of _you._ To take what they did a step further _on them._ To hope the flashbacks are enough to stop them from _doing it again, to someone else._ It led to me being confident in the fact, that in _my_ trail of victims, so to speak, none are innocent. I won't say that's a good thing. I won't even promote it. But I'll say this much. It shows me with surprising clarity, who is _worth_ your sorrow.
I wouldn't recommend it. It's dehumanizing. It puts you _above_ them on a clear hierarchy. But it IS a solution.

I tested as an INFJ twice in college, and fit all the descriptions. I’m 50 now, have had LOTS of therapy and have learned how to express my emotions more effectively, but it’s still difficult. I’m not sure why the INFJ personality would be something anyone would want, honestly. My therapist calls me a “super feeler”, and having such deep emotional reactions has even led me to restrict the shows I watch. I can’t stand Facebook, I can’t deal with how awful people are to each other. My feeling things much more deeply than others has been useful in helping other women in recovery programs and church, and for that I’m thankful, but I would never ask for this personality type. For the record, I'm content with my non-INFJ personality type. I've only seen one comment saying they wish they were an INFJ. I'm sure there would be things you'd miss about it though.
I'm ESTJ and sometimes feel like I lack depth or feeling for others (can't speak for all ESTJs) and though I did well in school I'm slow to pick up on things. So trust me, every personality type has its drawbacks.

I also love helping people but it's gotten to the point where I created boundaries so as not to get drain because I get drained way too easily. Am I still an INFJ? 🤔

Yes, I thought the same thing. I'm still on my way to become a mature person, I think, but still I believe I'm making a lot of progress in putting myself first. I've set some boundaries with my parents and chose to take to my needs and feelings first rather than to theirs. You know what? It worked, they changed and we're in a better place because of that.
Also, regarding the criticism, of course it's still hard to get it considering how deeply personal any of the work you do is. I mean, you take this part of your soul and get it in a broad light for someone else to see. And it's so easy to get offended, but criticism from a person you like and admire actually will probably make your work even better. And being an INFJ most certainly helps you to choose someone great to actually show your work to or ask for a personal advice.

INFJs are social chameleons. As they grow older the social cues they pick up from people will help them navigate just about any situation. Kind of like a personality “mystique”. A young INFJ is often quirky, awkward and often say weird things that people misunderstand or cannot relate at all. This isolates them and often make them feel like an oddball. Age and experience will teach them not only to hide these quirky bits well, but to use their empathic skills practically. At work they are either often seen as calm, cautious, pleasant and someone you are drawn to trust. Or they may successfully take on a seemingly extroverted and assertive personality (but this drains them a lot)
Things to take to heart. Only your inner circle and family can be trusted with the “real you”. If you are fragile, handle yourself with care.
Famous INFJs include Oprah, Martin Luther King, Adolf Hitler

I’ve taken the test three times. INFJ twice, and ENFJ once. I’m an UBER/LYFT driver, and those short interactions with people tricked me into thinking I was good at socializing. I’ve gone back to college, and I’ve been in a lot of unrelated social situations since I took that test. I know better now.
I like to think I’m logical, and in many ways, I am. But I couldn’t even imagine not considering other people’s feelings in being logical.
I CAN think objectively, but mostly when I’m alone.
I’m not sure I’d want to be an activist. I feel like nobody would listen to me, and for good reason. There are a hundred million voices all claiming to know better than other people, and the only thing they can agree in is that the world sucks. The people speaking the loudest tend to be inconsiderate of opinions that differ from their own. Lastly, I am not sure I’d trust the people who would listen to me. I’m not an expert, and it’s not easy to convince people with logic…but it’s very easy to indoctrinate them, and that’s the last thing I would want.
I like taboo subjects, and wish they could be talked about more freely, and with more maturity.
I love to learn, and always try to recognize what I don’t know.
I feel like there’s more to say, but for the life of me, I can’t think of anything.

INFJs use logic to make decisions. It's not their primary function, but they can and do cycle through analytical thought processes to 'check' their intuitions. Intuition actually tells you to check your work with logic. Often times intuition is just subconscious pattern recognition that requires rational organizing and construction. Most times when I get a feeling or intuition, logic then processes that feeling into an argument. Logic then presents the argument and intuition checks that, and the process continues. With practice you get really good at it-with very hard to beat rationales because they are a balance of thinking and feeling. This is a perfect example, my intuition told me that INFJs do use logic and that to claim they don't is not only inaccurate, but unfair. Then the rational mind put together the arguments, and the illustrations kicked in to illustrate the point.

That the fact that we string together past life experiences into an answer in the face of reality isn't actually purely logical? Despite how accurate it can be, it's less like we are examining things purely case to case, but rather everything as a whole with huge bias. It's just been given a bad rap by dishonest actors who use 'lived experience' to push a self-serving agenda. Just because there is no broad-based, years-long clinical study proving the INFJ's observation doesn't mean they aren't correct. Usually INFJs make the kind of observations that would lead to conclusions that would never be funded for research. Just exact like that conclusion I just drew, that the people that fund big research would never research why they only research (and publish) stuff that leads to them to making money. That's a long-term pattern recognition that I've drawn into a hypothesis, long before it was widely discussed.

I tested ENTJ in high school but 10 years ago (and last week) I tested INFJ. My I/E and F/T were pretty close to 50/50. The description still matches me so well, except I'm a bit more comfortable in social settings. Probably has to do with having a big family, the right friends in middle/highschool, and a job where I have to interact with a hundred plus people a day.
I really wish I knew about these traits sooner because I could have protected myself better. I got taken advantage of a lot.

Nope.... those numbers are STILL low. as of typing this, there's about only 176,896 views on this video. FIRST off... that number of views is STILL NO WHERE near as a high likely hood factoring in the ENTIRE PLANET! and secondly... not even EVERYONE(AND still counting)of those 176,896 are even commenting. in fact... its probably only a somewhat(to roughly)low percent of those people who find themselfs commenting at all. THEN you can factor in that maybe... yea there probably ARE(a FEW)people falsely claiming to be an infj. though... even if everybody else here WERE falsely claiming to be one, it would HARDLY dent those numbers on a planetary scale. and so infj's ARE in fact still very, VERY rare(well apparently. at least according to statistics).
although... in my opinion? IF this comment section WERE in fact riddled with many liars... then THOSE numbers would probably be more telling of just how dishonest and insincere MOST people would generally be rather than anything contrary to the infj's statistics. . .

My problem with my personality type is that I was originally INFJ, and have clarified this through multiple retakes of the MBTI test, but as I started to focus on my weaknesses as an INFJ, for instance taking criticism personally and making decisions based on my emotions, which are weaknesses that I feel affect me in areas that I want to grow, I started typing as INTJ or INTP, even if only just by 10%. So, even though by nature, I still reflect INFJ traits, I make decisions differently in an attempt to better myself, so taking a test that reflects how I actively make decisions would be, in essence, inaccurate. It's confusing haha

I always wondered about that, but then a few years ago I was discussing assigning tasks with another engineer. I mentioned that I try to assign tasks to folks based on whether I think it’ll give them some job satisfaction, recognition, or try to distribute the “fun” tasks among people. (I mean, let’s face it, it’s still work so you can’t do that all the time hehe) The other engineer was very surprised and said they just assign tasks based on who can do it best. Because it's not based on functions at all. There are loops and grips in all Personality types and INFJ is the most logical feeling type overall. They say INFPs are more into logical things while their inferior function is extroverted thinking??? Which is not even developed completely till they are elderly people. But for infjs thinking functions is in their 3th function which is very very active. And also it's introverted thinking function. Which means. Actually INFJs take A LOT OF LOGICAL decisions only for themselves rather than people. The overall video does not make sense.

I can talk when the other person is either understanding me well enough and is interested... And if I am lucky enough to get a convo partner that would love to have a healthy discussion (in thus again the thing is they will just understand like 25% of my thoughts in my minds so you see cannot share everything)

I think things like I’m not so important to think people want to know me like that. Most people only care about what you have to offer. I’m not saying that is what it’s like for me since they reassure me. It’s just sadly a bad habit. Also never letting the comment go 🥲😭 had me in tears for a few days.

Me, an INFJ: *clears steps 1 - 5, watches step 6* ... I think therapy has helped me explore this more, because I don't do this by nature. I was TAUGHT to express my emotional needs and stick up for myself, it wasn't something I did before on my own volition. Sooo... still an INFJ, I think xD

Me too. I'm definitely INFJ, but I have worked on myself to get to where I can stand up for myself. I still secretly feel guilty about it sometimes and occasionally backpeddle into sacrificing what I want to help someone else. But I am learning to love myself first, and actually focusing my intuition purposely on myself has helped me to be more confident about my right to go for what I want. It also helps to think of myself (sometimes) as if I were another person who I love that I need to take care of.
