    The scale factor Ig/2R is required only for versions before 2017. From 2017 version of etabs the I/2R is included in the function itself (we need to specify Z,I,R during defining the function). So now the SF to be used is just ''g'' in appropriate unit

    In calculating the Aw (area of wall) you cannot multiply its length with its height (you did 3.25 x 3.5=11.375m2). It is clearly stated that Aw is the effective cross sectional area of wall in first sorey of building, therefore you should have multipiled its length with its thickness, not with its height. (so 3.25 x 0.3 =0.975m2) this value you should have been using.
    Anyway good job.

    I think you should also perform the response spectrum analysis in Robot Structural Analysis and then compare the results with ETABS and what are the reason for these differences?

    sir, in the calculation of number of modes i didn't understand how the degree of freedom is taken as 3? In the lesson 13 storeys x 3 degree of freedom was multiplies. i didn't get this concept.

      2 Translational (Along X & Y Axis) & 1 Rotational(About Z Axis) Movement/Mode is possible for each floor. So each floor has 3 Degree of Freedom.

    Respected Sir,
    If vertical response spectrum is not present in seismic code of design, then out of these two function, which function should be used in linear time history analysis
    1) Scaling of vertical ground motion time history as 2/3 of horizontal response spectra.
    OR
    2) Scaling vertical ground motion time history as only horizontal response spectra.

    Sir, while defining LOAD CASE : RSx ,
    in LOAD APPLIED. Can we account the effect on RSx by 100% x-dirn load and 30% load on y-dirn?
    LoadType LoadName Function ScaleFactor

    Acceleration U2 IS2016h 30%*(9806.65)
    and similarly for defining LOAD CASE : RSy ,

    Kindly, answer this regarding IS codal provision on this accounting for seismic load of 100% in one direction and 30-40% in orthogonal direction. ThankYou from Nepal.

      we use 100% in 1 direction and 30% in other direction only when we have non orthogonal frames rit. I mean when we have column oriented in 45 degree or other degree.. Here all columns are orthogonal. No need of going with that 1.5dl + 1.5 ( eqx+0.3eqy ) combinations.

    If I use 1893:2002 function, which is my default scale factor?
    9806.65(default) or Ig/2R(980.66) ?
    In a model I am creating, RS value is coming 4 times than the static value at default 9806.65 factor
    I am using Etabs v19, IS 1893:2002 fucntion (since safe 2016 does not have 1893:2016, I have to use 2002 for foundations)

    In etabs 18 v1.0 I couldn't filter the results as you did in 17:58 ,when I want to filter the results ,the program gives me a message says that "this field is not for import"

    Can you please check scale factor given for RSA? Since the referred post is in 2012 and ETABS 17 version onwards we are already giving values of I and R.

      No. According to IS 1893-2016 if your structure falls in zone 2, 3 and 4 and in zone 2 above 15m you should do dynamic analysis. It again depends whether the client is intrested or not. For high rise building we do dynamic analysis, if small G+3 we don't do, Static Analysis will suffice.

      You may notice that I am trying to help all. Frequently I am doing on different codes. Will do same on ACI/BNBC also in sha Allah. And if you know different codes it will increase your engineering judgement. So don't ignore any tutorial.

      Yes, for Bangladeshi Engineers ACI/BNBC is mostly needed. You may have seen wind loading on shed and previous lots of tutorial done as per ACI/BNBC code. RSA also done with ACI/BNBC code. Waiting for the updated code that will be approved. So please give me some time to help you all.
