    To clarify, I have made some edits to the interview but only for the sake of trimming fat and removing several clumsy occasions where we interrupted each other. None of my omissions should remove any substance of our discussion.
    Hope you enjoy our brief conversation!

      If not can I send you mine? It's been in storage for decades now and just collecting dust.

    This is so interesting! I binged your two videos on Scratches over this weekend and the story completely sucked me in. It's so interesting to see you bring up your theories and how some things weren't intentional by Augustin which led to those theories, but at the same time he doesn't dismiss them either. It goes to show good stories are often a discussion between the author and reader (or in this case the player) and you can tell you both understand that and are able to discuss things from the game very well. Awesome job on the interview! I can't wait for Asylum.

      So pleased that you enjoyed, I am definitely an amateurish interviewer. It's nice to finally have a degree of closure on these senscape/Scratches videos, but I also can't wait for Asylum to come out so I can jump right back into it.

    This was such a fun interview! Agustin's such a giving developer when dealing with fans. We have corresponded numerous times over the years, and he's always gotten back to me so quickly that it blows my mind. I'm not sure when he sleeps. I have been super excited and stoked for Asylum since it was announced, and this gets me giddy all over again. And I would absolutely DEVOUR a "Scratches" graphic novel. :)

    This interview was amazing! and it did the best thing for me - I've been looking forward to Asylum for years but was put off by the 'Hammer' films influence. I have just realised I was muddling up Hammer with Grindhouse (not a fan) so now I feel so releaved and excited for Asylum! It would have been interesting to know how he came to work with Jonathan Boakes (Voice of Jerry and Dark Fall creator).

    I've had Asylum on my wishlist since 12/14/2018 and I am eagerly waiting for it.
    As for Silent Hill Ascension, I am not sure if working on that is good thing to brag about haha. Last I heard that thing is universally hated.
    Never heard of The Dark Eye, I see it's from 1995. If you decide to play it on the channel one day Vote 4 Holt I'll definitely be here for it. I can see that the game can be played using ScummVM as well which great.

      @vote4holt  Před 5 měsíci +2

      Yeah, I definitely heard some negative things around ascension. First silent hill to have a battlepass lasgoooo.
      I get the feeling Agustin is well aware of its reception online, but of course he had no part in those bits of it. Work is work, and if I were ever given the opportunity to work with a silent hill project I’d probably jump on it
      You’re a real one for being wishlisted so long. Like I said, I’m among the newer fans of his and haven’t had to endure the wait.

    I’ve been a fan of and been playing point and click adventure games since maniac mansion was on the NES. I’ve never heard about this game before. I don’t have a pc so I don’t mind being spoiled. But I know of another adventure game this reminds me of. It’s called Lighthouse: The Dark Being. I can’t remember if the story is great but I do know it’s never left my mind since 1997 when I played it. I’d say go check it out. It’s an old Sierra Myst clone with a great opening and puzzles that pissed me off.

    • @vote4holt
      @vote4holt  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Oorrrf I haven’t got time to make a video on it anytime soon but I could hopefully explain the fundamentals over a comment-
      There’s a software called WinRar that basically everyone uses to download larger files - basically large files get downloaded as a “.zip”, which is just a bunch of info bundled together, and winrar is used to “unzip” these big files.
      WinRar is totally free, it won’t give you viruses or anything, and you use it to open and “extract” the file you download from the abandonware sites.
      The game will only work on windows, to my knowledge, so if you’re on a Mac I’m afraid you’re out of luck (though it is possible to get it to work on a Mac, it would just take 10x the effort)
      www.myabandonware.com/game/scratches-director-s-cut-li3
      Here is a safe site for archiving old games where you can download the directors cut itself
      www.win-rar.com/download.html?&L=0 and here is WinRar, the software you will have to use to open and extract the game after you download it. You will probably want to download the 64bit of WinRar for windows 10, assuming you use windows 10 or 11 respectively.
      (WinRar might tell you to pay for their service but you can literally just close it and continue using them for free and they won’t stop you lol)
      Sorry again that the game is so difficult to get your hands on, but once you extract the scratches exe to your desktop (or wherever) you should be able to install the game as simply as if you’d popped in a CD of it.
      (If you’d prefer to avoid the hassle of all this online rigmarole, it is also an option to get a physical copy of Scratches and play it through a disc-reader on your windows pc! Physical copies are severely undervalued, I bought one on goodwill for as cheap as $12- no one knows what they’ve got lol)
      Good luck!
