Not just Salah Al-Din, his brother Al-Adil aslo. After Al-Adil defeated the 5th crusade, Eyewitness-chronicler of the Oliver of Paderborn writes on how the starving defeated crusaders were treated:
"Who could doubt that such goodness, friendship and charity come from God? Men whose parents, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, had died in agony at our hands, whose lands we took, whom we drove naked from their homes, revived us with their own food when we were dying of hunger and showered us with kindness even when we were in their power."

A supporter of Sufism and a patron of khanqahs (Sufi hostels) in Egypt and Syria
Deep Devotion: Saladin's character and ambitions were deeply shaped by his profound love for the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). This devotion was reflected in his personal piety, policies, and efforts to foster Islamic unity and strength.
Promotion of Prophetic Traditions: Saladin's rule was marked by a strong commitment to the Prophetic traditions (Sunnah), and he sought to align his governance with these values. He supported religious scholars and encouraged the study of Hadith (the sayings and actions of the Prophet).

"Futuwwa is a code of conduct for those that seek to emulate the Prophetic example. It has been translated as chivalry in the past, a more accurate translation would combine the characteristics of bravery, integrity, generosity, humility, service, kindliness, steadfastness, loyalty and personal discipline."

This is actually a propaganda made by nationalist Turks. It is especially done to tell the Kurds in the region that you have no history and to root them out. However, this is not the first time this has been done. They translate the sources used especially in academic articles on history either incorrectly or incompletely. They generally try to portray everything about the Kurds as Turkish. When they fail, they try to Arabize it. Selahaddin is one of the important Kurds who served Islam and we Kurds are proud of this. However, the youth of the society are drawn into great hostility because of both nationalist Kurds and nationalist Turks. For this reason, the future of Türkiye society is not very bright. Young people are changing religions because of nationalists on both sides. While the Turks are converting to the Tengri religion, the Kurds are converting to the Avesta religion. As far as I last learned, nearly 5 million people had converted to the Tengri religion. Among the Kurds, I do not know the number of people who converted to the old religion. They are becoming more atheists. The religious group in power is trying to stay in power rather than being a bridge between society.

Not just Saladin! his brother, Al-Adil aslo, Eyewitness-chronicler of the fifth crusade, Oliver of Paderborn writes on how the starving defeated crusaders were treated after their defeat:
"Who could doubt that such goodness, friendship and charity come from God? Men whose parents, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, had died in agony at our hands, whose lands we took, whom we drove naked from their homes, revived us with their own food when we were dying of hunger and showered us with kindness even when we were in their power."
the account of the eye-witness Raymond of Aguilers:
“in the Temple and porch of Solomon, men rode in blood up to their knees and bridle reins. Indeed, it was a just and splendid judgment of God that this place should be filled with the blood of the unbelievers, since it had suffered so long from their blasphemies.” In fact, Raymond continues, “This day, I say, will be famous in all future ages, for it turned our labours and sorrows into joy and exultation; this day, I say, marks the justification of all Christianity, the humiliation of paganism, and the renewal of our faith.”
Another account by a chronicler and eyewitness-priest, Albert of Aachen, describes the killing of fleeing women, and depicts crusaders as:: “seizing [infants who were still suckling] by the soles of their feet from their mothers’ laps or their cradles…and dashing them against the walls or lintels of the doors and breaking their necks […] they were sparing absolutely no gentile of any age or kind.”The incoherence inherent in a stranger to Abraham calling the children of Abraham gentiles notwithstanding, this account evokes the very same Psalm 137:9 imprecation against Babylon, in Latin, “beatus qui tenebit et adlidet parvulos tuos ad petram.”
Albert describes a massacre occurring, in cold blood, on the second day following the conquest, painting a scene that is as horrific as it is realistic and detailed: "Girls, women, matrons, tormented by fear of imminent death and horror-struck by the violent murder wrapped themselves around the Christians’ bodies in the hope to save their lives, even as the Christians were raving and venting their rage in murder of both sexes. Some threw themselves at their feet, begging them with pitiable weeping and wailing for their lives and safety. When children five or three years old saw the cruel fate of their mothers and fathers, of one accord they stepped up the weeping and pitiable clamour. But they were making these signals for pity and mercy in vain. For the Christians gave over their whole hearts to murder, so that not a suckling little male-child or female, not even an infant of one year would escape the hand of the murderer".

Salahuddin defeated Baldwin IV three times.
The Battle of Marj Ayyun was a military confrontation fought at Marj Ayyoun near the Litani River (modern-day Lebanon) in June 1179 between the Kingdom of Jerusalem under Baldwin IV and the Ayyubid armies under the leadership of Saladin. It ended in a decisive victory for the Muslims and is considered the first in the long series of Islamic victories under Saladin against the Christians.[3] However, the Christian king, Baldwin IV, who was crippled by leprosy, narrowly escaped being captured in the rout.
In the spring of 1179, Baldwin launched an expedition to collect the sheep passing Banias as the seasonal movement of flocks began from the fields of Damascus. Alarmed, Saladin dispatched a force of 1,000 lancers led by Farrukh Shah to see what was happening. On April 10, he suddenly met the crusader forces in a narrow valley in the forest of Banias. The Crusader force was taken by surprise and ambushed; both sides fought fiercely until the Crusader force was routed. Baldwin almost fell prisoner; however, he was saved by Humphrey II of Toron, who managed to hold off the Ayyubids with his bodyguards until the crusader force withdrew. However, Humphrey was mortally wounded in the battle and forced to retreat.
The siege of Jacob's Ford was a victory of the Muslim sultan Saladin over the Christian King of Jerusalem, Baldwin IV. It occurred in August 1179, when Saladin conquered and destroyed Chastelet, a new border castle built by the Knights Templar at Jacob's Ford on the upper Jordan River, a historic passage point between the Golan Heights and northern Galilee. Jacob's Ford is also known by the Latin name of Vadum Iacob and in modern Hebrew as Ateret. Many scholars believe that Saladin's reconquest of the Holy Land and Jerusalem in 1187 was heralded by this earlier victory.

Salah Uddin, probably a good man, is not my role model.
My role model is a brave and wise Syrian blind poet, Abu Ala al Maari,
from the 10th century who rejected Muhammad as a prophet in his poetry.
His poetry is still available on the internet.
