    Camera, build quality and other aspects of this phone is pretty good no issues with that. But the thing which I love the most is that Nokia is still keeping the 3.5mm Headphone Jack along with an option to expand the storage using a micro sd card. Kudos to Nokia! 👍

    Another excellently designed mid-range device from Nokia. Every time I have purchased a Nokia device I have not been disappointed. Every time I try out other brands like Samsung or LG I find issues with the devices. Most recently I upgraded from a Galaxy A32 5G to the 8.3 after watching your video. The A32 had major issues with connectivity. Would always disconnect from Wi-Fi, and sometimes failed to find a mobile signal even if I was in a great area. I would consistently have to restart that device. Zero issues on the Nokia so far. Hell, the only thing that I have found that I'm mildly dislike about it is how quiet they vibration is when you put it on silent mode. Other than that it's been a perfect device.

    I really like the g50, only complaint I had early on was I though my display colour seemed a bit wash out, but I put that down to coming from an OLED display on my last phone were the colours were really rich, maybe a bit too rich. But overall I'm really impressed with the g50, it was a gift so I probably wouldn't have bought it myself, but really glad I have it now, used to be a big Nokia fan back in the early days so it feels good to be rocking a Nokia again after all these years.
    It's really fast and snappy, has nice cameras, big display, big battery 5000 mAh my last phone only had 2225 mAh , looks nice, really like the colour shift on the back plate, it's big but slim and light. After a month of use, I can't fault it on anything, would highly recommend to anyone.

    I think Nokia can build a phone for someone who wants a phone.
    The majority of phone users just want a phone that works and cheap. And Nokia can say they can build that phone.
    No point talking about stereo speakers or high refresh rates as that's not what the majority wants.
    Phone work and phone cheap.
    The Nokia G50 meets the requirements for phone good and cheap. Don't need last 10% of gaming performance.

      It's been pretty great! Seems like a perfect fit for me. For the most part I don't have anything to complain about, but in some ways the US version is lagging behind in memory which could be annoying for some. I love the phone but I can see why the processor would be slow for some.
      The battery is amazing though, that's the one major improvement, and connection holds up well. It's not even that much slower than the iPhone SE, and is more durable I suppose. It's kind of like an above average phone with some exceptional features but the color is amazing!

    Hi Abdulla!
    Here's what I want to know for the G50, as this may be my hope for having a 5G Nokia phone (screw Nokia PH lineup).
    1. Having the G50 at an HD+ resolution, is the resolution downgrade noticeable compared to having a FHD screen? Like having images slightly pixelated and stuff?
    2. Since the G50 does not have Zeiss optics, how does the camera compare to the X20 which has the Zeiss optics? Is the camera performance close or does the G50 fall behind?
    Thank you, and looking forward to your full review.

    • @AbdullaZaki
      @AbdullaZaki  Před 2 lety +6

      Hi Yvan, I will be doing an in-depth review soon, but to quickly answer your questions the resolution is not noticeable when viewing video or pictures, mainly when staring at text from a close distance
      2- the camera seems okay but has very different processing compared to X20. The images are more saturated with stronger HDR effect. For the most people they won't miss Zeiss optics here.

    Thoughts on this phone (i really only care for design because what i do with my phone does not need top specs anyway - texting, occasional videos and browsing)
    - i am a bit sad that Nokia completely abandoned "premium" materials. Haptics are important as well as the little things like the glint of metal.
    - because i use the Nokia 9 - and i think it is a very well designed phone - i am a bit puzzled about Nokias regression in terms of screen design. While Samsung and many Chinese manufacturers went for holepunch and then attempts to completely remove or hide the front facing camera ... Apple kind of "owns" the notch (for better of worse .. i dont like it, but it is a characteristic; you can almost call it a feature these days) - Nokia went for the holepunch ... and then back to tear drop notches.
    Now even Fake/Copy phones on Wish come with holepunch screens now (admittedly crappy, cheap screens but still.. ) Nokia does have holepunch screens. But if they do not want to use them .. i would consider it a MUCH better design to go with the symetrical "chin and forehead" that the Nokia 9 has. This design has not become old, because many "gaming" phones also feature it. The teardrop notch however is a design characteristic of an intermediate - a kind of necessity ... and looks "old" and "cheap" these days.
    So i would have wished for Nokia to embrace a larger forehead instead .. since they simply do not want to remove the chin area with the name branding.
    - The phone looks too similar to Nokias other phones (the X series or the others) - aside from my taste ... this is a mistake i think. Phones are like cars today. They went from a special accessory to an everyday item of usage. Cars went through the phase ... and they tended to look all the same of sorts for a while - only to rediscover that "different" is a feature.
    The Google Pixel 6 is daring in its design .. it is recognizable at first glance. It is not pretty - but it is its own. The Nokia 9 is the same .. instantly recognizable. Even the Apple phones are instantly recognizable in 2021 .. due to the vintage notch and the abysmally designed camera module on the back.
    Nokia had much more fluent design language ... the Lumia 920 and 950 inspired the long and narrow camera unit of the Nokia 7 and 8 .. . There was an elegance with even those mid rangers with copper accents and a metal body.
    This new design is - boring. It is not bad .. it is just boring.
    Some years ago - there had been a Nokia 9 successor render (which never came) .. which had a sharp edge corner on one side and a rounded one on the other .. with the sharp corner housing the front facing camera. While surely not the most comfortable to grip .. it was different and exciting in its design langage (also premium materials hinted - glass/aluminium at that time)
    I still like Nokia ... it is a kind of Nordic patriotism or so - to prefer phones build by our little Nordic bunch of countries - but in terms of design .. the new Nokia phones are a let down. They are not testing the boundaries anymore.
    edit:
    I should say - if it is a matter of cost - Nokia phones are not aggressively cheap ... and that is OK. But if cheapness is not the focus .. i can gladly pay 20-30% more for truly good design and better materials.

    • @AbdullaZaki
      @AbdullaZaki  Před 2 lety +1

      I think you need to look at Nokia devices on a base to base case.
      For example, the G50 and the X10 might be similar in terms of specs, but they are also designed for different groups of people. The G50 is not a successor to their X series. The X line up is their stylish, modern take that replaces devices like the 7 series and 8 series, and perhaps 9 series of the past. The G series is for an older audience that doesn't care about all the latest trends and wants something that is nicely built and reliable. Most importantly, practical. The G50 serves that second group well, but won't be appealing to us design aficionado that obsess over even the smallest details.
      Btw their conservative approach to design isn't something new. Even their most iconic Lumia phones for example had bigger bezels. But back then they had their own factories so could create any form they want and build it. Now, HMD sadly doesn't have this luxury.
      You also need to take into consideration the fact that is very little room to create something super unique these days in terms of design. At least with their current lineup, they have clear design language and still focus on making phones feel nicely built in the hand.

I say settle because the screens are all too big on the newer Nokia's! I will order this and give it a try - not happy about the finger print scanner - I hope there is an option to NOT set that up. If the call quality (on both ends of the call) is satisfactory, I will keep it.

    Also since the display is HD+, smaller size will help in increasing ppi

    It's kinda sad how Nokia is no longer putting effort on their phones unlike the gold old days.
    Also stock android is a great choice but they could've made their on UI to make us feel that the device is Nokia.

    Hello Abdulla Sir.
    Nice video 👍. Continue posting such amazing unboxings.
    BTW just moving off the topic and wanted to know Sir do you have any idea:
    When HMD Global will be releasing 'Android 11' update for Nokia 9 Pureview? I'm using it.
    And I think this is the only last eligible device in the flagship grade of Nokia to receive the update.
    Might be few tweaks in the camera could enhance the overall experience.
    And might HMD Global add a Night Mode to the camera.
    This device is good and has improved overtime. Few tweaks in the software can make it refreshed once again.
    Image processing does take time but it's fruitful (except in the case of night shots).
    Regards.
    Praharsh.

      @AbdullaZaki  Před 2 lety

      Thank you :)
      I wish I knew about the update for the 9, but its complicated. The camera system on the 9 uses Light technology which is complicated to work with and update. I hope they manage to pull it off in a nice way, but don't expect many improvements to the camera sadly. I don't think it will get a night mode for example.

    Hi, @TheMrNokia, I found out the camera cannot zoom in/out under 48MP mode. Is this a bug of firmware?

    • @AbdullaZaki
      @AbdullaZaki  Před rokem +1

      Hey! That's normal. The way zooming works on these sensor across phones is the same. The phone crops from the middle of the sensor. So when you use the full resolution, it cannot crop to zoom in. There's absolutely no need to use 48mp mode at all. It only makes the file larger without much benefit to quality anyway.
