When I do a horse with that much hair I used my daughter's scrunchie to keep the hair out of the way. Works great. Like your videos.

Nice work, I wish you could be my farrier in the USA. Farrier’s here, won’t do drafts/cobs/gypsies unless the feather is all out of the way by us, the owners. I barely get the center sulcus trimmed away and definitely don’t get a polish. I would like the ergot trimmed, do you include that service in the trim appt.?

@@Peterthefarrier 7 weeks??. He grows hoof fast in Spring and Summer then. Wow!! Great trim! I loved when you picked up the piece you had nipped off and showed us. I knew be was forward on his heels, just by looking at the solar plane of his hoof, but I didn't realize that was only 7 weeks of growth!! Have a great weekend, Peter. My 3 come in this weekend for their summer training. The 2 stud colts I had last year, and a Newmar. She has to be started from the ground up, while I'll just do a quick refresher with the boys and be back in the saddle by mid April with them. They start cavelletti and small jumps and tons of gridwork this year. Might even have them out to a few local shows with the owners. But nothing over 60 cm. by then. Jenn 💖

On the hoof, after nipping the outer layer of hoof, colour was showing in from about 7 o'clock through to about 8 o'clock, and it appeared pink. Was that natural colouration within the keratin, or was it the sign of blood supply / nail bed extending down? Essentially, what was it?
