  • Hey all!
    Here’s our fly-on-the-wall experience for week 2!
As always, this is not perfect and we are all learning together. I keep reminding myself that this is a learning curve for all of us and it will continue to smooth out. Don’t forget you can speed up the video by clicking the gear on the bottom bar and changing the playback speed.
We did flashcards and a “Seeing the Unseen” journal entry for last week before turning on the camera.
Something I did today that I’ll probably do differently going forward is trying to pull flashcards during the lesson. I think that slowed us down and just jotting the symbols down to find later and review flashcards would be better. Though the flashcards were very helpful for my ChA student in her worksheets. Letting her work ahead of the rest of us was beneficial though coming behind to review her work was definitely necessary as there were several things to correct.
Still, an hour and a half is still shorter than we use to spend on math and my younger daughter declared today that she “loves the Math Map!” so I consider today a win.
Hope our crazy helps normalize yours!

I just want to say thank you for doing this! I have been watching your videos before I teach my own kids and it really sets me up with confidence to lead out in the lessons. I appreciate your boldness to lead out on something that is so new & foreign to all of us! Also, you are a patient and kind momma :)

Do you do all the flash cards? Back and forward?

No. We do a selection per child, so my oldest is currently working on 13xs and the notations we’ve come across in our lessons, my second is doing 2xs, and my boys are doing 3+. Everyone reviews the notations we’ve come across.
