      It's certainly not a bad thing if they're earning you compliments, JM! Our main argument with today's video is that these items don't mesh well with the classic wardrobe style for which we advocate here at GG--but some of them could certainly work with other styles of dress. And of course, at the end of the day, we're all free to wear whatever makes us comfortable. Cheers!

    Kyle is the only person on this channel I would actually take fashion advice from. Everyone else seems like they’ve become so nerdy on fashion of the early to mid 20th century that they looks like they’re playing a part in a movie. Sure they are well informed and the stuff they have to say is very educational but I’m not trying to be a transplant from the 1920s. Modern fashion that is grounded in tradition is what I’m looking for and I think what gives the best impression to others and that’s what Kyle nails.

      It's called Gentlemen's Gazette and you're surprised that they advocate for a higher-end look? And it is timeless, the 1930s suit style is still around 90 years later, and there'[s a decent argument that its simply a modification of the styles of the late 1800s, so its even older.

    This video gives me mixed reactions - It has good principle and reasonss for wanting certain things to go away, but seems really scared of new looks created through technological innovation. @@botany500kojak Classic menswear and everything that belongs to that is just fine and well, but when someone states (as they do in the video) that "some things should just go and die forever", I think it is stretching it a bit too far ─ especially when not all the men in the pictures seeing wearing these items appear to be advocates for the classic style in other aspects either. Some things may still very well serve a practical purpose for other people in their everyday lives and even look good with other matching styles and items. That's how I see it, anyway.

      @Sky_Cloud Před 3 lety +8

      @@JJ-jz3uw well, that’s probably why they said that if others are fans of these trends, it’s fine and that the video is simply just their opinion. They seem cognizant that people like what they like and hate what they hate, and so the video is a list of things that the creators either personally dislike and wish for the trend to end forever or they know who they’re marketing to (classic menswear people) and tailor the videos to them, either of which is perfectly fine

      I tend to interpret these videos more on a "what if you were on a formal occasion wearing this thing" rather than "never ever step out of the pre set line!", because of course, they surely have casual moments as well, probably way more than formal ones.

    • @lawfulbeneficiary1731
      @lawfulbeneficiary1731 Před rokem

      @@riograndedosulball248 I feel like these videos intended purpose is to appeal to an older audience and middle/upper class because seeing an older man in chunky shoes and a waist bag would look silly it’s not for everyone it’s dedicated to timeless classic men’s wear that midddle/upper class people have been wearing since the 50s. You go to london and try to go into a members club without a suit you won’t even get past the door man. And the other side of rich who don’t wear suits wear smart/casual everyday regardless what age they’re. So it’s entirely dependent on your circle and what class you’re. I wear shirts with small floral prints and refuse to stop. Men deserve to have more pattern than stripes or plaid!

      Nothing wrong with a piece of floral print, be it shirt or tie. The examples given showed a “flower all the things” approach which they were denigrating.

      Writing as someone who owns a Major Hochstetter leather greatcoat, I resent that. I do hear the tympani music from Triumph Of The Will in the background, though.

    In Brazil there's a expression about Capris pants that loosely means "throwers used to jump over a marsh."

    I found clothing that works for me, and I don't change my style. I find I come in and out of style, but I don't care, as I am perfectly happy.

      Same here. For the past year and a half, I've been wearing plain Fruit of the Loom t-shirts, cargo jeans and a pair of Dickies work boots. It's just simple workwear, so nobody pays attention to it and I like that.

    I disagree with 90% of the opinions of this channel and yet here I am.
    I feel like I’d look 30 years older than I am if I followed the suggestions from this channel. Although it’s interesting to know what men over 35 think about modern fashion trenda

    I feel like the gazette should stick to talking about classic clothing, because thats about where their fashion sense ends. They don't seem to understand casual or streetwear very much

      I clicked on this video randomly, and find most of their advice to be either too simplistic, or too rigid. It's a fashion channel that's all about following rules, by guys who aren't that particularly stylish themselves.

      You guys get it wrong. The gazette is not about fashion but about classic menswear. There's quite a difference

      Could not find much rules that are anti-feminine. Mostly they are against bad-taste. He's only a bit narrow minded on capris: sure a full suit with too short pants is awkward, but with a wider leg and a matching shoe like a Converse low chuck, showing some ankle is awesome. Not by rolling up your distressed skinny jeans though. Also the floral part was keeping tasteful options out of sight. A proper 30's high waist pantalon or modern high waist wide leg jeans with a tucked in fitting flower shirt is giving men a killer look.

    My cole haan frankenshoes are first exceedingly comfortable, and go very well with a business casual look. Since I work in property management I know being presentable is important, but I also have to be prepared to walk alot and occasionally roll up my sleeves to get something done!

      I have to agree with you. In general, form follows function. I respect Gentleman's Gazette's opinion and slant towards traditional style. However, our 21st century lives and livelihoods are slowly modifying and chipping away at traditional style forms, that while beautiful, are not as practical.

    Bucket hats are great if you don't want to mess up your hair because they are light and also give you great sun protection, when you are indoors you take it out and your hair looks the same. The other hats are fit but once you are indoors and you take it out your hair is a total mess.
