Thank you so much! I can't believe I never saw this video every time I search for motion tracking tutorials I get like an 8 minute video like please this doesn't need to be longer than a minute! Great video very helpful! Definitely subscribed in case you upload more helpful tips!
By the way if the tracker's not giving you any errors but it's also not tracking anything that's because it's not actually connected to your video so you will have to do that manually, just connect the arrow on the left to the start of the video's arrow and the square on the end of the tracker to the arrow on the end of it and it should count it as inside the video (probably a more elegant way to do it but it works!)
Love it! I don't even need it for my kind of videos, but I made a small clip with this info just because you did so well explaining this. The most pointless tracked clip ever! lol but it works so well!
1. Bring up Planar Tracker in Fusion tab 2. Click "Set" on the right hand side 3. Change Pattern to "Hybrid Point / Area" 4. Change Motion to "Translation" 5. Draw a box around object 6. Track until the end 7. Open Operations box and hit "Stabilize"
Doesn't work: the "track to end" never reaches end of track, so I have to keep tweaking the vertex dots on preview, and then the final result tracks (sort of) but doesn't track in the CENTER of the screen
Direct and good tutorial!👌 HOWEVER, I of course ran into a problem. I am editing a video of me riding a bike down a mountain. It is shot at around 120mm focal length and during this 18 second clip, it is not possible to simply zoom in afterwards to get rid of the "blank" borders. Any tips on how to dix this?
Any tips on how to handle tacking things that gets briefly blocked from camera pov before popping back out again (context I am trying to track a player in volleyball that gets blocked by a teammate). The track seems to lose my subject and the moment they get blocked and starts tracking something else even when they re-appear.
Cut out that part of the video thats getting blocked and track it manually - I plan to do an entire group of videos relating to tracking ive just been busy with my main channel! :(
Excellent tutorial, thank you... Im just finding an issue: when I create the box and click on the "play" button for it to track, it does nothing... how can I fix this?
OK. I assume I know what is the issue. This message about FAILED is appear when you just push once on the object. Which is not enough. You need to really DRAW a square around an object and final dot should be linked with the first one. After that tracking will work. This was not so clear explained by author.
Cool! Now how do I apply an image to the tracking. It's tracking for the frames I want, but can't apply an image to it. Does it matter that im tracking visible parts of a greenscreen image?
Hi I tried to hold control and press space but it didn't bring up select tool menu. I run an Apple mac. I've tried going through all the settings but can't find it...
i followed your tutorial twice, and when i press the button to start tracking, it only tracks the first couple frames and then just straight up stops tracking. the object that im trying to track is clearly visible the entire time, only changing expression twice. what am i doing wrong? am i dumb??? (probably)
I have the same issue. I think it's because the object or area you're tracking gets overlapped by a different object in the video, confusing the program.
Davinci is a very powerful program however like AE its not user friendly for beginners - aside from AI Tracking I use Premiere Pro for almost everything becuase of how easy it is to use (im also biased because of my main channel Adobe Made Simple) lol
Didn't work. I created a box around the person I wanted to track, and the box moved completely off track to the right of the screen after a few seconds
@@davincimadesimple Guy on another video told me object tracking is not what I need for what I'm trying to do. I forget what he called it, but it's a different effect. All I need to do is keep a person in the frame, because he keeps moving off frame
It wont track the object ive selected at all, its a bright green triangle in a dark background so it should be able to see it but the geometric shape i drew to highlight it just stays in place, does not track like in your video

This is the best kind of tutorial possible, quick and straight to the point. THANK YOU! If only everyone made instructional videos this way!!

Is there a way to animate the zoom effect so it doesn't just quickly cut to being zoomed in?
This might just be playback lag within davinci - Export it and see if it still does it
best explanation ever, thanks bro

Control + space? Shift + space, right? Love the short tut!
Both of them seem to work on my end! :) - Thanks for the compliment!!
I'm on Mac! For me shift + space worked thank you so much haha
Excellent tutorial, thank you... Im just finding an issue: when I create the box and click on the "play" button for it to track, it does nothing... how can I fix this?
The box you created might not be big enough or davinci is having issues tracking that specific part of the video through the end
it says track failed: invalid tracker polygon
I’m not sure what would be causing this

Thank you :D
Great video so far... when I try to do the step you do before stabilizing, DaVinci says that I have more frames than allowed... How do I solve this?
Im not actually sure but I will look into it!

Shift-space
whenever i press track to end, it only tracks to the second frame

do i have some options if i don’t want to zoom in?
The zoom is required otherwise you have to deal with ugly black borders
I am using the davinci studio but the control space doesn’t work for me. How can I fix this? Also your videos are awesome 👍
What do you mean control space ? - and thank you :D
My tracker goes one frame then stops.
Nice vido but how can I add an object to the tracked part and replace it with like a picture
i can't get this to work for some reason :/
What do you do if the object is moving. The tracking stops or starts tracking something else
If the object moves too much or moves off screen the effect wont work properly - as far as i know theres no way around this
Hey bro it works but if I like shake something it only goes up but not down? why is this?
Hmm i'm not sure honestly
is this included with free version or the paid version of davinci anyone know??
It doesn’t wanna connect to the line as soon as I add on the planer tracker
you can connect the nodes manually - just click and drag!

@@FloydDrzy ok that’s probably it
Yes this is exactly it - the AI that runs the tracker isnt perfect and things like that can cause it to just give up essentially
"Track failed: invalid current time" I did everything in your video step by step to three different clip. All came out to error
That easy
Yep it is :)
i love you
Lol thank you! :D
This is not working when the moving object has a lot of motion blur lol
Yeah, there’s affect doesn’t work with every situation unfortunately

Anyone else struggling to find that search bar?
Does the shortcut not work ?
can you slow down an audio without changing the pitch in davinci? I need an app or something that would make me do that
I'm trying to slow down my AI voice since it speaks too fast without changing the pitch
Im actually working on a video on this exact topic - look for it soon :)
looking forward to it!!@@davincimadesimple
Track failed: invalid reference time
The reference time 0 must be within the render range (which is currently set to 62794, 63062)
Help?
you didn't press set
dosn't work, tracker won't simply track my object.
same issue, tried it on multiple things, some big some small, idk if the FPS needs to be very high or what but there's no error message or anything
found the issue, the tracker might not connect to the video automatically so you have to connect it yourself :D
0:06 to skip the intro
How tf do I draw the box?
did you figure it out?
@@reececrawfordnope
All you have to do is click on a few points on the preview screen to make the box
Didn't work. I created a box around the person I wanted to track, and the box moved completely off track to the right of the screen after a few seconds
It wont work with 100% of videos - there needs to be a bit of contrast between your subject and the surroundings environment!
