If your contrast is low you can add an Brightness Contrast node. Then adjust so it’s higher contrast. You can always remove the node after tracking as it’s just for tracking. An edge detect node would also help in some cases. It will outline the object, use like contrast above during tracking.

Take the text+ into fusion. Cut, paste into tracked clip. Connect to tracker.
Works but my text rotates a little beyond the tracking. Hhhmmm... tips?

Basically correct, but one problem with this approach is that when you color grade the clip, the text will get color graded too (which probably isn't what you want).
