Penn Badgley is such an underrated actor and a genius. I’m so glad Netflix picked up the show to do a second season!

Rachael Konkin he really is SO smart. He is very aware of the problems with his character and is not looking to romanticize any of it. I like that he is able to use this character as an outlet to speak about the not so great parts about our society.

I’m glad he takes it upon himself to point out that his character should not be romanticized. It’d be very easy for young women watching the show to be influenced into thinking Joe’s obsessiveness is attractive and even seek out partners with those destructive traits. It’s not cute it’s scary.
He sees the conflict in some of the shows or films he is involved in and admits it, like Gossip Girl

I'm glad I'm not the only one who watched it on Lifetime...lol. I'm shocked so many people think it's a Netflix Original.
Yeah I noticed that too. But I think while it makes sense it was made by Lifetime given the dramas it tends to produce, I've often heard people talk about a negative connotation with Lifetime for things being lame love stories or poorly produced murder/stalker stories so when it makes something well produced it probably doesn't get credit for it and Netflix has a positive connotation for its shows so if it buys it and continues the show suddenly it's amazing. It also reaches a wider audience too. Something similar happened with Bodyguard. I believe it was produced by BBC originally but it became bigger when it was on Netflix and people could watch around the world.

Interestingly, Lifetime did the binge-format before with Season 1 of Unreal, with AFAIK episodes that have yet to air on cable being made available already online. I'm not sure why they couldn't do the same type of hype-buidling with You, unless Netflix got that covered earlier on.
I saw the trailer when Lifetime had it but I don't have cable so I chalked it up to a loss. Then when the RKelly doc came out I realized they had an app 👍

2 big hits in 12 years is actually an awesome stat in the entertainment biz. Most stars are like fireworks. They burn brightly for a few seconds, then fade into oblivion. Congrats to him.
This is not the kind of show I would ever click on, but I did and I was hooked. Binge watched the entire season in a day (I never binge watch anything). Very, very pleasantly surprised by this show. Very well done and very well-acted.

It is interesting how Joe becomes less and less attractive the creepier he gets. It is like Ted Bundy being handsome until you think about what he did. The darker he is the uglier they get even though they may not really change their appearance you just see them differently.
