Thanks for a solution to an aggravating problem, I've fallen twice while yanking on my saddle to raise the seatpost. Great idea using the baby gate as a bike rack!
Thanks for the awesome overview on fixing this issue! My dropper wasn't extending all the way after only a month on my new bike, Turns out there was less than 100 psi. Much appreciated!
I have this post on my 2020 chameleon. Bought it recently from a guy never rode it just had it sitting in his garage. Anyway this post will not hold air more than a week it seems - sucks that it would fail so soon and sucks that it requires the seat being removed to air it up. Nice vid though hope you are having a better experience with it.
n1 qualified man was the bike new? i just got my 2020 nomad in the mail yesterday and the dropper will not go down without more force than just my bodyweight applied. It has an aeffect aswell.
@@n1qualifiedman yah! an amazing bike, santa cruz did a really good job on it. As for the dropper, i guess it just needed to break in a little bit more, your video helped me find the way to pump it up. Happy trails!
I noticed that also. Look at your video when you did the close up view before disassembling. The longer legs point to the rear. I took mine apart and am now trying to figure out which way the top plate goes. It has one nut at an angle... does it go front or rearward?
Hi, great video. I have a 2018 Santa Cruz Tallboy. The post on mine looks identical, but the place where you show to remove the rubber grommet just has a nut and what looks to be a stud. Do you know if Raceface might have changed the design on these? It's an aeffect.
Glad you could fix your erectile dysfunction by pumping some air through the valve. But my Aeffect Post does not have an air valve - RF seems to have downgraded later posts with seal cartridge. So for this who after going through the pain of removing the seat discover a locknut or a screw where the valve should be, oh well, join the club of floppy dysfunctional droppers. She doesn't mind, life goes on!
some side to side play is normal, and varies by manufacturer. if it's bad enough to where you feel it while riding, it's probably not ok and should be checked
My lever doesnt work at all. I can only adjust the seat by pulling the cable from under the seat and putting weight on the seat to lower it. Or just pull the cable to heighten the seat. Does it sound like the cable has maybe disconnected from the lever ? Is it easy to fix ? Any feedback is much appreciated 👍🏼
n1 qualified man Thanks for getting back to me my friend 👍🏼 No its not disconnected from the seat post as when i pull the cable underneath the seatpost, it will allow me to adjust the seat. Its the lever on the handle bats that isnt working. Do you think its come loose at the lever end ?
@@23lnp hmm. that would be fairly obvious if there was a problem at the lever. this is a cable actuated dropper, so you should see the cable connection at the lever, and whether it's moving or not.
n1 qualified man As you can tell my knowledge with bikes is crap i know lol. When i push the lever i cant feel the pull of the cable so maybe the cable has come loose.
you cannot extend the travel, but you can raise the entire post (bottom portion) in your frame (seat tube) so that both, the lowest point and highest point are raised. if your seat height at full extension is good already, you will need a longer travel post that you can set lower in the frame, but still have correct seat height at full extension
Try flipping your bike upside down overnight. Mine had enough air but still got sticky at the top. Flipping it may let oil/lube get to some internal part that is sticky. It's worth a try and zero work!
if the cable is being pulled inside the frame, it will be like the control lever is being always pushed. you have to ensure there's adequate slack of cable inside the seat tube.
Check to make sure your release cable is not being stretched. For example if you had to raise your seat post in the frame, it will pull on the cable and it will behave as if the remote lever is being depressed. In this case you would have to pull the seat post out and pull enough slack into the seat tube to prevent this from happening
hmm. yes, there was a model that is supposed to be non-adjustable, and i thought my post fell into that category, but luckily i have the valve. what post are you running? model/size?
Thank you. Extremely helpful. Now I dont have to look like I'm digging my ass trying to pull up on saddle while riding anymore
Thanks for watching. Was pretty discouraging to look on SRAM’s website and not finding this simple procedure in their documentation.
You have save me a whole bunch of money and time, thank you much ! 👍
Great video and bird. One note to others - make sure the post is full extended when u fill it.
Thanks for the vid! This fixed my aeffect seatpost as well 👍
Glad it helped. Thanks for watching!

Same issue with my bronson I just purchased. I wasn't sure if it was air or not. Now I know! Thanks!
glad it helped!
Thanks ! Seatpost fixed thanks to your video ;)
alright! glad it helped.
Im having the same problem. I went to adjust the angle on my dropper lever and now it isn’t coming all the way up. Thanks for the video!
i was worried when i didn't see a fix posted on their website. glad that there is one we can use. thanks for watching!
Awesome vid!. Very clear and informative. Almost fell on a climb when my seat post dropped without warning.

i agree the design is trash and should have never made it to market
Ottima spiegazione :Thanks for your video .
Thank you for watching! grazie
thanks! this helped me with a service on mine
Thanks friend, got the same on mine since buy, was about to put a normal seapost. 👍
glad you were able to fix it. will probably need to do this once every riding season.
This was spot on ! Thanks !
glad it helped!
nice job, thanks mate. will lube and air up mine tomorrow.
Awesome!
this video is so helpful and you explain in a very easy way.
nice video
Excellent video & JUST what I was looking for - Thanks.
Great to hear!
Thanks.. My pressure was low and this helped me fix mine. 👍
glad it helped. my post has worked very well since the fix.
@@n1qualifiedman have you "topped" up anything after your fix?
Love the use of the baby gate. Lol. Great vid!
🤷♂️🤙
Lol, E.D. My SC Chameleon had same issue. Thanks for making this vid. Appreciated
Pain to do. I have to do it once a month. Doesn’t seem to hold much longer than that.
Thanks! I was having issues as well! I just got a shock pump too haha
Glad I could help!
That is one impressively clean bike! Thanks for the video!
lol. yep; unfortunately i think i'm going to sell it. don't think i'll be riding for a while, if ever.

@@conor9411 cool. my seatpost ended up losing air again, but bike was hanging in the garage since september. pumped it up again. bike is sold :-(
Cool thanks. Got the same exact bike with the same problem
i wonder if they under-inflated them at the factory or if they leak. although i have not had a problem with mine since the fix.
Thanks for the vid.
Thanks for watching!
Big help. Thanks
Glad it helped!
Perfect fix! many thanks
You're welcome!
Imagine spending car money on a bicycle and stuff doesn't work out of the box. Thanks fixed mine too
lol. sad!
Good instructions. thanks for posting
Thanks!
Nice video on how to pump it up, but what was the problem of loosing that pressure at first place? How to fix that?
Hey you have the bottom plate on the post turned backwards when you reinstalled it. Great video mine has the same issue and leaks.
Thanks. Don’t see the orientation in the documentation. Where are you getting the info?
I noticed that also. Look at your video when you did the close up view before disassembling. The longer legs point to the rear. I took mine apart and am now trying to figure out which way the top plate goes. It has one nut at an angle... does it go front or rearward?
Got it! The top plate with the upturned end goes toward the front. I have a Tallboy, same post and same problem. Thanks for the vid, well done.

i think there are lower model versions of this dropper that don't have the adjustment
Thanx, it solved my exact problem. Have you been required to do the operation again or did you do it once?
yep, had to repeat again. seems like a once-a-season type of activity.
Legend thanks!
glad it helped!
Thanks! Will try this.
no problem. hope it helps!
Thank you so much you saved my butt!
Glad it helped. Thanks for watching!
What is the exact dropper model are you using? I also use raceface aeffect but i dont have that rubber cover the seatpost and I cant see any valve.
yeah, there's a version of this post that's not adjustable at all, so that's a bummer

Smart. Thanks man!
I have the same bike 2019 carbon C Nomad but my dropper doesnt have a schrader valve on the top, but got a screw instead. its a race face aeffect too
yes, i think the lower end model of this seat post is not adjustable. bummer.

Thanks so.much

Pull the seat post out - cable attaches at bottom. If you had to adjust your seat post height, you may have pulled it out of its place.

works great for having bikes in your living room!
I’ve just done what it said to do there but my dropper doesn’t stay up. Any reasons why it would do that?
if the cable is being pulled inside the frame, it will be like the control lever is being always pushed. you have to ensure there's adequate slack of cable inside the seat tube.
My dropper cable must loose. Anyone have know how to fix it?
Is it the same process for 125 version?
There’s a version of this seat post that doesn’t have a valve. You’ll have to check.
Mine does the opposite, it won’t stay up and just keeps moving down on its own and when i dropped down, very slowly will move up
