I enjoyed seeing you work through clearancing the steering and pitman arm. I never fooled with any solid front axle setups. You deserve more subs!!!!

Great lesson . An ex-buddy of mine that thought he is an expert got mad at me for not understanding his explanation to me about BUMP STOP & AKERMAN . He didn't explain them in a way for me to understand . We got into a heated argument . He's a dirt track/street rod builder with some very shady ways he builds vehicles . I was building another T-Bucket Street Rod with a dropped axle and hair-pin s and cross leaf spring and a Vega box . Your explanation is by far the best I've ever seen . Now it all makes sense and is going to really work great . My T-Bucket would dart depending on the movement of the axle making for a very exciting ride . Another problem I had was my rear panhard bar would make the side travel of the rear of the car kinda squirely . Lots of Horse Power in a street driven car can get your attention really quick . Great build on your Fairlane , I really dig the powerplant you have chosen . I'll be following your build from now on . Thanks. Great video .

I love the use of the cherry picker for the round bar bender.. Great stuff the use of uncommon tools to do the same job.

Just discovered your channel & really enjoyed listening to your insight on this specific straight axle / steering theme.

I am building a Ratrod gasser street truck. Not a drag racer truck.I watched your video and it helped ! I am still trying to figure out some problems I am having ! But my cross link is way low. I might try relocating the arms up top but I know I will have to relocate my calipers like you did. I just have the speedway front end !

Very happy this video helped, thanks for watching.
A majority of this front end should be very similar to what you have. The material I removed from the steering arm was pretty minimal, but always need to be as safe as possible with steering and brake components.

I really appreciate this video. I am planning on doing a drop axle in my Falcon. The steering geometry has been a bit of a wild card for me. Great explanation on things to lookout for.

I don't like that big spacer you got. My big concern would be the leverage it creates twisting that mounting point causing fatigue and cracking. It's just some stamped steel. My strait axle isn't a perfect setup it's how I got the car haven't gotten to the point of messing with it yet but it does have a rather large spacer like yours but it's on the pitman arm a rather heavy duty part of cast iron and still I feel I should relocate the steering box just to eliminate that stress point.

Im putting a 90% bolt in straight axle in my 57 chevy gasser build.
No cutting of the frame and it can go back to stock if need be. Check it out.

Long time ago in Alaska of all places I stumbled across a '67 Cougar ( Roller ) that I got 4 >> $175.00 it already had the chrome-moly straight axle skinny wheels and 33x12 Mickey Thompson slicks , on average whats the cost to build a Gasser ? Thanks
