This lore makes me realize that Eltharion is one of the best written characters. He does great stuff, he calls everyone stupid (which they are), and he even has a great death... if we're going to acknowledge the end times.
What do you mean end times? That poorly written (in an already mostly sloppy lore in the first place) fanfic?
Oh right. If memory serves this is the book where it talks about how people across the world feel inexplicable sadness over Alarielle's death--except the dwarfs, who specifically don't give a fuck about what happens to some elf lady.

I'll be honest, this kinda sounds like a lot of World of Warcraft. Some good original ideas, but then the execution is abysmal, wholly contrived and there are no lasting consequences for anything. With the 'adventurers', here the 'lovers', affect nothing of the outcome, despite the advertisement saying they do.
Still better love story than Twilight though.

Always thought the Elf books were some of the most poorly written in the WHFB library, and that's a stiff competition since most are pretty bad. William King has the prose of a 9th grader.

Yeah the point about dark elves being treated like a chaf faction is absolutely their main issue. They should be owning the high elves 100 to 1 to be a threat, can even have dark elf's monsters fill the chaff role for them but it seems like the writers never get that and just want to treat them like an endless wave for some reason, instead of "oh god this one random sorceress is killing everyone bc dark magic is op"
Could make sense with just things like "The average bleak sword, hardened by a life of constant murder butchery backstabbing kill gore brutality raiding is a match for half a dozen high elf soldiers."
"The average cold one rider is literally riding a dinosaur that shreds through cavalry and infantry easily."
Alarielle sends out the poets and hippies to die before the actual soldiers. Based?

I hate how Dark Elves are portrayed. They make no sense at all and as you said, their society shouldn't be able to function. I really love Dark Elves, I love the idea, but... How 1/10th of a nation, that then gets halved twice, so about 1/40th (of the original nation), that wouldn't be able to really grow their numbers (due to all the backstabbing, death nights, harsh climate and all of that) can make a massive invasion and then lose it all and STILL be a military power... Like, they don't even have a stable economy because they can't preserve their labourers lives and have to make constant raids to supply workforce
Based on the description from this video, I refuse to believe elves reproduction is slower than humans.

What I get after listening to the video: The plot makes no sense and advances only based on stupidity. The characters do not engage in a believable way and ignore things they should know.
The only one who has an excuse is the protagonist because it's clear that his mind has been magically altered, but when everyone else is just as stupid it doesn't mean anything.
Alith Anar is absent from the kind of situation where he should be absolutely present.

Alarielle was using Heart of Averlorn in that novel.
The destruction of the Black Ark makes no sense and I don't think they work like that in the lore or that are moved by monsters, I remember the black arks are moved and kept afloat by black magic, are floating mountains, rock icebergs with a fortress-city carved into them, a dragon can't move that.
As seems to be usual on Malekith's part, the invasion plan is to crash head-on into one of the High Elves' largest fortifications. Fortifications created specifically to repel the druchii. To be fair this doesn't just happen in novels.
The author is a big fan of 3:1 apparently.
There are as many Eldar as the plot demands, I think a Black Library author said it. That is to say, the numbers do not make sense and lack coherence from one work to another.
Everyone in Ulthuan is supposed to receive military training as a spearman or archer, so the whole scene of Alarielle sending poets to die is doubly absurd and ridiculous.
I did like the idea of a mindbomb. Apart from that the entire story makes about as much sense as a the story of a Fast and Furious movie.

Warhammer elves: Our character traits are overly emotional and cocky. Yes, we create all of our own problems because we act like 11 year olds. What do you mean the fanbase hates us?
For real tho, I could write an essay on how bad GW is at writing elves. It is a bit better in AoS, but in fantasy and 40k, they are insufferable.

I remember reading this book a long time ago and wanting to re read because I didn’t remember anything. But wow I guess I forgot it for a good reason it’s nice to see someone else talk about how ridiculous some of these books can be. I would love to read more Warhammer but some of the writers make books that just aren’t very good. I hope we can see more lore videos because these are fun.

Don't blame the character, blame the writer. There is also a video about a novel with dwarfs who are much stupider than the characters it talks about in the video.

How is it unsupported? He was a bit to harsh on the DE about the civil war part, however that does not really change all the other reasons DE should be in demographic decline.
