Louisa was very fond of Emerson(not romantically). He paid for their rent at Orchard House the entire time. Her father was lazy, shiftless and the very few times he lectured, did not think he should be paid, nor would accept any money; DESPITE his family living in terrible poverty. I have been in Orchard House numerous times as I grew up in Lexington Massachusetts next to Concord. Went to a private h.s. in Concord while living in Lexington. Little Women is my all time favorite book. I collect editions of it. It is NOT just a children's book. Louisa wrote other adult books. Very hard to find, but they are out there.Alcott April...super idea for a giant of a lady!

I’m reading Marme and Louisa currently (written by her 2x great niece) and it’s saying all you mentioned above.
I don’t think Little Women is just a kids book either, but it is able to be read to children which some of her other work I would be hesitant to do that.
I adore her works. And am finding I quite adore the woman she called Marmee.

The film adaptation was a “made for TV” 80’s style but it is wonderful! I hope you can join us, Heather. ♥️

My goodness! Great readathon idea, this is wild because I almost grabbed an Alcott bio from the library for people april, but pulled LM Montgomery instead. I've been too tempted and made 2 trips to the library for non fic potentals for people april in hopes I finish my 24 RWYO ahead of then... but I am not putting them on my official TBR yet. May have to go back again for it after this. I think I will definitely accomplish your prompt tho!

I'm in for the group read and watch! Also i already chose a NF that will work when i was planning what i wanted to read in April. Definitely short stories. I won't get to all the prompts.

Not sure how my reading in April will pan out so not sure yet if I will be joining or not but I hope it goes well!
