No joke: I can't do regular pinch harmonics. But I do them with my index finger nail. Exactly the same way, basically pluck the string and let it bounce into my index finger nail. Reliable harmonics everywhere, every time, no matter how high or low the fret. Been doing this for 20 years. But regular pinch harmonics... nope. Still can't do 'em.
@@dominicwillies9335 Holding the pick the regular way, I just "un-curl" the tip of my index finger, so that the string slaps onto my finger nail when it snaps back after being picked. Same effect, instant harmonics any fret, any string. Just a different technique. :)

Once you're comfortable with a pick, switch to just your thumb for further harmonic practice.
