    A lot of comments on here asking what is Goldie on about. When you produce music, you hear all the elements of a track differently. You tend to be more focused on what each element is doing and how it sounds within the track. You work on sounds individually, tweak them and make them work together. It is a very technical thing. A computer screen is a graphical representation of what you are hearing. Hearing music as a listener is very different to how a producer listens to it and that can be difficult to explain. It is like listening to it from a different angle. So, before you criticise Goldie just think there maybe some of us who do know what he's on about even if you don't.

    He's a man in his element...Never thought much of his DJ'ing, and I only mention it because some of us spend our whole lives dedicated to the tables...when you're crafting some of history's greatest songs, you can be forgiven...but he's shaped the sound of a generation...Roni, Bukem, Goldie and their affiliates...they all changed the face of music. There's still nothing like a Metalheadz cut...There's a sense of soul and quality that exudes a transcendent presence in almost every release that other labels either try to emulate or are envious of. That's not a knock; every label now has their niche. Dispatch, Hospital, Foundation, etc all bring different elements to the table...Why Jungle persists as one of the more eclectic and diverse forms of dance music.

    Man he's fucking nailed it. So much electronic music now is so formulaic. Like bass drops aren't even exciting any more, they're just an annoyance that you have to deal with and it's so formulaic and expected that people don't even know how to make them interesting any more.

      Yeah I could listen to Goldie talk for hours. He has a way of talking from the heart and I like how he applies it to drum and bass. I'm glad to see him still so passionate about D&B all these years later, it's very inspiring.

      I guess youtube plays a big role in that... People watch tutorials on how to produce, instead of trying to figure out stuff themselves. When they watch tutorials they just end up copying each other. People seem to lack the ability to innovate nowadays...

      Let's not forget 4hero, dillinja and above all optical. Playford is the most important engineer, of course. I wonder what it's like when Goldie makes music, what is it like to work with an engineer.

    • @khalnetherfields7263
      @khalnetherfields7263 Před 5 lety +1

      Hugh Jones I don't know, I was a bit disappointed when I found out, but think about it, he can't be a total hoax after that many years in the dnb scene, nor could he be totally illiterate after spending all that time in front of cubase and samplers. I'm thinking you might be wrong actually but I don't know of course.

    • @khalnetherfields7263
      @khalnetherfields7263 Před 5 lety +5

      Dan Survivor Bodyweight Training bit harsh, don't you think. What's wrong with you today, difficult morning in the callcenter?

    • @khalnetherfields7263
      @khalnetherfields7263 Před 5 lety +1

      Dan Survivor Bodyweight Training I refuse to believe that, that can't be all it is. He has to be important to the creative process somehow. You know that it's how music is made in all other genres, it's a whole group of people, it's not the norm that the artist is also the person who wrote the midi

    A legend with many great words but as far as I know he doesn't know how to use a piece of studio equipment and has always had others produce for him. But what he has is a vision that many with technical abilities wouldn't be able to dream of themselves.

      He has a musical brain, thinking in music and hearing music and rhythm in all your thoughts and feelings is what he's talking about. The world is full of music and he's a quiet genius because he's in tune with it, many people aren't. He really appreciates and understands the value of music and that is what makes a true musician, not fame or money.
