The name of the new mission being "Scorpion's Abyss" is an interesting callback to the two-part Voyager episode which introduced the Undine. With the difference of instead of a truce with the Borg to fight the Undine, it is a truce with the Undine to fight the Borg.

Seriously, its bonkers, and I have mkXV in every slot on my ship.
If you do try it on elite solo, kill the spheres and probes, then the assimilators. Basically, work your way up from smallest to largest, or you will die over and over.
On the boss fight, just focus on killing the probes the Unimatrix ship spits out and let the NPCs kill the boss.

Oh, I absolutely distrust the Aetherians. Just about everything seems off. They fly around in the TET from Oblivion and talk way too much of peace and harmony.
    My theories are:
    - alternative Borg. Lots of talk of peace and unity. Maybe enforced via assimilation.
    - alternative Iconians. They can bioshape themselves. And they had issues with time travel, similar to how Aetherians have issues with fluidic space
    - oppressors on the level of the dominion. Did we ever see a single other species from their universe? Seems odd.

It took me over 3 hours, I actually lost track of how long it took after 3 hours, so it might have been 4+...
I did figure out the kill order by the final set of enemies before the boss and once you know that it's much quicker.
In case you want to go back and do it on Elite, just kill the borg ships in order of size from smallest to biggest, and whenever possible try to pull the smaller ships away from the bigger ones so you don't have to tank the whole group at once. If you kill them in the right order they go down way faster as some of the probes regenerate the other ships.
I reckon I could do it in a usual episode length on elite now I've figured it out.

I always thought the Borg were just a species that became a hive mind and all of them being connected created chaos cause they still had individual thoughts and ideals and then someone got the idea to just funnel all that into one Borg that was fully A.I To micromanage all those thoughts and emotions and ideals and that’s where the queen comes in bringing order to chaos out of all the Borg she’s the most metal then flesh which would explain why she wanted data and put flesh on him wanted a companion tried with Picard too fleshy so went with an android and why Borg always interested in Humans cause the maybe the original species 001 Borg were close to human I dunno just head canon

This episode is fantastic... I just wish the team was big enough to do more content drops this high quality, and you know, maybe have the extra time to fit the alternative race-specific dialogue options back in... It would have been really nice to get LB (seriously, STO, you need to rename them XB already!) dialogue for our characters... I feel that whilst they are certainly hitting Kuumarke with the PTSD stick (and harry is showing some trauma too), our own characters shouldn't be so blaze about their experiences. Especially if they're LB toons. Still, the ball made the boundary again, even promopacking the Dude didn't feel like the usual LBW in the face of it. Looking forward to part 2!

I don't know if they're going to end up being antagonists, but I absolutely believe they're shiftier than they've presented themselves as. We're already being used for the bits of the fight they can't do themselves, in fluidic space, I suspect maybe they're in more trouble than they've said and they need to help us in order to have any allies in their fight, or something.
Like the Taelons in Earth: Final Conflict: They weren't secretly trying to take over earth, exactly, but their making contact and uplifting humans was in large part motivated by their needing help in their war with their rivals (who, to be fair, wouldn't have liked humans anyway once they discovered us, but the Taelon actions guaranteed they discovered us sooner than they might otherwise have).

Maybe just our galaxy. But I'm thinking universe and it'll be some kind of "once we seal you off it will collapse on itself" kind of thing. Bright Eyes said a few episodes back when he was introduced that the Tholians are able to talk to teach other in other universes, and see other races kind of the same regardless of Universe (ie Terrans same thing as Humans even though they are different in goals and society.) But they have not encountered the Aetherians? What universe are the Aetherians from?
So Fluidic Space connects to every point in the Multiverse? So it is another Mycelial Network. However, wouldn't there still be time and distance to worry about? I mean it is not like we can enter Fluidic Space and then open a port anywhere else, we still have to travel distances before exiting.
Remember the Undine over-brain that TuPok talked to? I think we are dealing with that faction, the one that became a truce after it was convinced that together we are strong.

The Borg are not known for dishonesty. If the Borg King gives a cryptic warning with his dying breath, perhaps there is something to it. The Atherians may not be all they present themselves to be.
Further developments of this story arc might give us a new twist on the familiar trope of cute and beautiful aliens being the good guys while the ugly and scary aliens are the bad guys. Like the killer bunny in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the Atherians might become rather fearful enemies.

They've repeatedly attacked normal space species since then and it seems like the ones Janeway made peace with didn't speak for the majority, but we did discover that the Iconians were manipulating them. The last we heard from them in the storyline was Tuvok making peaceful psionic contact with the intelligence of a bio-dreadnaught, so actually things were on a positive note before now. Still, they've always responded violently to anyone coming onto their lawn, so I see why we didn't try to initiate anything since Tuvok talked to the dreadnaught.

The STO lore reason is that Ezri genuinely felt as if she wasn't doing enough as a counsellor on DS9 and that she clung too much to Jadzia when staying there. When she finally went off station she realized how much her exoerience could help Starfleet because she had to take command during a combat situation (captain and other officers died/incapacitated aka the Picard route to command). I think Ezri was characterized enough to tell us that she would hate to see people's lives at risk simply because she wanted to stay a counsellor

    • @AzraelThanatos
      @AzraelThanatos Před 7 měsíci

@@phrophetsamgames I'd assume it was less clinging to more of Jadzia, and more of the mess that happened because she didn't go through the training to actually host a symbiote combined with the entire mess that forced the joining. Add in other things like her ritual to find information involving prior hosts of the Dax symbiote.
That had been a major thing with Ezri's story, so her having a LOT of bleed from Jadzia and other hosts is pretty much spot on
