@@jamesmiller7712It’s a strategy whether you like it or not. Think of it this way. Let’s say you get hit, and you fall into the pack with attack items all around you. Is it worth fighting through all that? Or is it more worth it to hang back, gather coins, and make a comeback? You’ll still have to fight through the pack, but you’ll have both a full coin counter and power/invincibility items to help you get back to the front. It looks stupid, yes. But it’s not as luck-based/braindead as you may think - your item strategy and track knowledge are both heavily required to bag successfully. And then it’s not even that good on some tracks (Waluigi Pinball, Moonview Highway, pretty much every Rainbow Road, etc).

Nintendo lag at its "finest". It wouldn't surprise me if, on the Japanese player's screen, you were taking odd lines too and the two of you just intersected where you got hit by a lag trail.
8:10 First place had to use their Super Horn when you threw the red Shell at them, which is why they couldn't avoid the blue Shell immediately after that.
That was lucky, always a good decision to keep them on their toes in first

Honestly weight never seems to matter. Like you could be on Bowser in a heavy kart and still get bumped around by a Toad randomly. I feel like both the speed and direction of people bumping into you matters in who gets bumped away, but who knows.
back in mario kart DS you could just take bowser on rainbow road and kick everyone off the map haha

This is my first video of yours I've watched. I always play this at parties and stuff so I'm always casual, so it's interesting how much strategy and timing you put into your gameplay! I never would have thought this silly game could be so involved!
This randomly popped up in my recommendations and it was a really fun video! I tend to play as lower weight characters so I also learned a lot. I also really wanna get back into this game and learn some of those shortcuts- they look so fun!
Another thing to consider is the benefit. Sure you have no weight but I am sure your speed and other stats went up to make your weight so low.

Hey Shortcat, i have a challenge i would really like for you to try out "Can i win with the best kart from every mario kart game in MK8 Deluxe?"
MK7: Metal Mario, B dasher, Hot Monster tires
MK Wii: Either Daisy, Sport Bike and Slim tires(represents Daisy Mach Bike) or Funky Kong, Bone Rattler and GLA tires(Represents FK Bowser Bike) (The reason i recommend Daisy is because both FK and Daisy are the best characters on Wii with FK being picked more often online due to higher weight, but the Sport Bike is a literal import of the mach bike from Wii (as implied by its japanese name), so you get to play the best Wii bike with inside drift with this combo)
MK DS: Dry Bones, Clown Cart, Standard tires (Its supposed to represent the Dry Bones + Yoshi Egg cart combo on DS!)
MK Double Dash: Koopa Troopa/Bowser Jr, The Landship, Wood Tires (This is the closest to the Koopa Troopa + Bowser Junior on the train kart!)
MK Super Circuit: Bowser, Pipe Frame, Standard tires
MK 64: Yoshi/Peach/Toad(same stats in 64), Pipe Frame, Standard tires
Super Mario Kart: Funky Kong/Diddy Kong, Pipe Frame, Standard tires (In SMK, the best character is Donkey Kong Jr, however they never brought back Donkey Kongs kid in any other MK games again! FK wears nearly the smae clothes though, or you can pretend diddy is his kid instead lol)
All of these were picked by which combos had the most amount of records in time trials and from their online metas. The challenge is really fun, i hope you try it!

The best thing bout this combo is how small it is. Makes it super easy to weave around and avoid getting bumped

Idea for a combo you could try sometime- a while ago you did max speed (dry bowser on the circuit special, slicks, super glider) but that combo is actually quite a bit slower in water and air speed. I’ve found a “balanced” max speed combo that has very high and perfectly equal stats in all four speed stats, Dry bowser/master cycle zero/crimson slims/hylian kite. Or any of their substitutes, but I like that combo for aesthetics. Compared to the actual fastest combo, while it has 3 points worse ground speed and one point worse antigrav speed, it has 3 points more air speed and a full 5 points more water speed. It’s slower overall than the max speed combo since ground speed matters the most, but more consistent, since it won’t lose any speed on water based tracks or ones with lots of gliders. It also has better mini turbo, acceleration, handling, and traction, making it feel better overall.

I was once pushed off-track by a lightweight baby character when I was using Wario with some of the heavier combos, it just really depends if you’re mid-hop, which direction your joystick is facing, and the track conditions

The weight difference with other players is not that big since the meta is medium weight characters on light combos and you still get bumped pretty hard. Imagine doing this on the Wii U version where the meta is heavy characters on heavy combos.
When i was a kid i always assumed weight also affected how much my kart got dragged by riugh terrain, so my go to combo on MKDS was Dry Bones with Mario's star kart.

The lower your weight stat, the higher the getting bumped stat.

I had a few thoughts about lag trails and wanted to share them here:
Lets say the lag trail solution is implemented
If you hit someone on your screen, the item goes away because you “hit them”
When the game catches up and realises you didnt actually hit them, it puts the item back. As it should be.
But what if I get a double item box after I “trailed” someone else? Do I get 3 items? Do one of my items get deleted? What if i wanted to cycle them?
