    I think it actually adds to the interesting tactics in hurling. You never know if someone will just lift and strike or lift high and move forward. This makes it harder for goalkeepers and more interesting for fans as you don’t know what will happen. The likes of Nash might bait goalkeepers out only to drive it past them as they run forward. Or some players who never move forward might do it once in a while to get an advantage.

    Wrong again lads. The rules on free taking and penalties in hurling clearly define 'lifting' and 'striking' of a sliotar. So lifting the ball is not striking it and they have to remain on the line. Another balls up by the GAA.

      the rules say when the sliotar the struck not striked so lifting the sliotar is when the player defending can come off their goal line and challenge the penalty taker
