      If it was Spain, circa 1936ish, i am indeed quite certain that Beau, much like myself, would be wearing a blue shirt.
      Cleanest dirty shirt and all.
      *anyone who knows what the hell I'm talking about, feel free to pat yourself on the back.🫡🫡🫡

    King Henry sitting down for breakfast, a knight bursts in: “message from the archbishop sir”
    King Henry: “Excellent, what does my good friend say about my attempts to try churchmen in the secular courts?”
    Messenger: “Ah, well” *clears throat and unravels message* “the Archbishop of Canterbury, representative of the Church in England, declares ‘up yours, you nob’”
    Henry: “ah, I see… do you mind steeping out for a moment Roger?”
    *Knight steps out and sounds of incoherent rage and destruction of property is heard*

    Beau, Thomas’s murder was the most shocking political example of the early medieval period - if you want far more profound murders, secular and ecclesiastical, you are correct to cite Henry VIII, his extensive list of murders is shocking - btw, do an episode on Anne Askew if you want to knock Carl straight out of his chair. Only woman ever tortured (racked) then burned to death by an English king. Bluff Hal was one psychotic piece of work.

    Beau Will you do Lawrence of Arabia? Either a movie club like what you do on Lotus Eaters or a book club episode on seven pillars I recently found out my aunt actually knew him (she knew a lot of people of that era she lived with George Bernard Shaw, Winston Churchill included) she was a character.

    Will you guys revisit the Bronze Age? Particularly Mycenaean Greece, I loved the sea peoples episode and since Carl loves Ancient Greece it’d be interesting talking about it pre classical era.

      Would definitely like to do something on the Mycenaean era... Nothing firmly in the pipeline, though... But, next year (for 100% certain) we will be doing a series on the Iliad. 🙂

    Dude changed his clothes multiple times a day? He sounds uppity and rather insufferable. lol. I haven’t watched this particular epochs yet, but I think I will have to do so now.
    BTW, I agree with the other comment about the blue shirts working for you. That shade of blue really brings out your eyes.

    Wasn't Charlemagne the son of a king?

    • @HistoryBro
      @HistoryBro  Před 8 měsíci +5

      Well, his father was Pepin the Short, who was merely 'Mayor of the Palace' under the true Merovingian king, Childeric III... BUT, then, Pepin subsequently did become king... So, yes and no... Pepin was something of a usurper, and Charlemagne was born a few years before that usurpation... So technically what I said was correct, but it's certainly fair of you to pull me up on that point. 🙂
