  • This is a short Warhammer40k fan film i made on my spare time.
    It started as a small learning experience and ended up being a short fan film.
    I found inspiration from all kinds of places such as the amazing Astartes, Starcraft 2, The lord inquisitor, Iron man and many others.
    This is my homage to those inspirations.
    Its made in Blender and cut together with After effects
    Music is composed in Logic Pro X
    For more info on this project check out my Art Station post at

    Thanks for the support and feedback everyone. A little clarification for those who wonder. This is in part an intentional homage to both Starcraft, Astartes and the other inspirational sources i had when making this. They deserve every bit of credit for their respective amazing quality, and the inspiration they gave helped me move this from a small side project into a more substantial short film.
    For those who want to take the time and watch it again, i uploaded a variant with a heavier Bolter sound to my Artstation page based on popular demand!

    Coming back from GW armoring Space Marine. I still prefer your a bit more.
    They both work in the their own context. Ultramarine is by the book very ritualistic, while the Raptor is pragmatic and efficient.

    • @alephkasai9384
      @alephkasai9384 Před 3 lety +1

      @Ban this youtube The RPG 7's (and most other rocket propelled systems) initial charge is simply for pushing it beyond the operator so the rocket can fire without burning the person who fired it. So it does not need to be very strong. In addition the rocket is often below the speed of sound, anywhere from 100m/s to 300m/s. MANPADs can get to above the speed of sound. However the rocket motors and the fuel are much much bigger than the warhead itself if you want to reach those speeds. Furthermore, MANPADs start out subsonic whn initially launched but transition into supersonic. Bolters do not have a transition.
      The 40mm grenades meant for use in handheld applications, such as in the underbarrel grenade launchers, have much less powder to make firing them comfortable. Thus they are much lower velocity than a bolter would need to be. Even the 'high velocity' grenade rounds used for mounted grenade launchers are below the speed of sound and rely almost exclusively on their explosive charge and fragments to deal damage.
      Bolter rounds on the other hand are meant to pierce armour and flesh and have been described as being supersonic or hypersonic depending on the book (in universe it can be explained as simply different ammunition or even a different atmosphere). Even without the warhead it's meant to pierce through thick armour with only heavy vehicles and power armour being able to withstand the kinetic force of a bolter round.
      Additionally, if the powder was simply used as a booster charge to get the round away from the launcher and out of harms way, then the recoil would be relatively light. However it's been described as being enough to break an unaugmented human's arm.
