"A Vindicare should not be mistaken for a human being. Contrary to a human being, who is filled with distractions, memories, and connections to others, a Vindicare is a well oiled machine. He was raised and trained, from birth, that the only reason he wasn't dead, raped, ruined, or suffered under any other horrible abuse that we could think of, was because of the Emperor. They were taught that they were selfish monsters, to even think of being different from their fellows. Their vocabulary is limited to only that which they need. Any deviation is punished by torture. They were taught to hide from their teachers and administrators, and to only come out when the mission was complete, and only when they received word from an authority figure that acted the impeccable imperial. Any deviation was punished with torture. The sense of smell is cultivated carefully. We have attempted to teach them to tell the difference of weapons by discharge smell. Any exposure to perfume, or anything pleasant and unneeded in their missions is punished by torture. Callidus require some socialization to blend in. Culexus, with their small pool of recruits have need to take in any they can find. Eversor, their combat drugs do the trick. Never shall you find any more well disciplined than a Vindicare."
- "So what happened to this one?"
- "We failed to punish him for a botched mission."

Based on an (in)famous /tg/ story. Ultra heretical. Don't say you weren't warned.
This was originally meant for Valentine's Day, but it eventually grew into a much, much bigger film. Took 4 months to do in total.

Rigorously trained assassin tasked with emotionless untraceable killing from unimaginable distances, literally from a force of assassins so professional that they're basically synonymous with death and can sit perfectly still for weeks on end for a millisecond chance to kill a target...

I don’t blame him. Do you know how long he had been waiting for an opportunity to use his “exitus long rifle” on a “suitable target?” Exactly.
There’s worse ways to go

Unpopular opinion I know but I seriously think this whole story has a lot of potential could tell the story of a killing machine learning how to become human and eldar learning that there are more to humans than being monkey and eventually getting that stick shoved up to fall out and explore a more grounded and personal view of the 40K units
yup, unfortunatly more people here are more prompt to "purge the witch and kill the simp/heretic" ... this is why we can't have nice things
And they'd have to deal with the imperium tracking that assassin and that's how theyd show other assassin types in the assassinorum and the mc has to defend his family from the imperials. I would soooo follow this story. Sounds so good
@@anonyme253 That is why I believe why we will never get a good, mainstream 40k story or TV series. Good writing requires the exploration of ideas beyond "kill all the aliens" which is precisely what the average warhammer fanboy is incapable of
no 40K isn't that kind of setting grow up
That's basically Beren and Luthien. Beren was mostly a feral assassin, killing wave after wave of Morgoth's followers in the woods, getting the highest bounty put on his head, until he had to flee to Luthien's realm. Luthien, a half-god, half-elf didn't have a stick up her butt, but her elven dad did.
I always liked that moment in the story because it is ultimately true. No matter how hard you try to bury it, Burn it, Destroy it from the very beginning. Sometimes a piece of humanity simple takes a stand and says "No, I will not follow your orders. I am my own man." It seams like something out of a storybook. Something from a tale, but it happens. It has happened before, and It will happen again, and thank God for that.
Reminds me of my journey out of Catholicism.
But good thing this isn't canon to Warhammer 40k. Humanity first.
It also means a lot considering the Sniper's profession and the conditioning that comes with his role in the military.
In the story, Livii (the sniper) has been described as having trouble speaking basic English when he talked to Taldeer, (the Eldar).
I personally, really like the story because in the story itself. It acknowledges the ramifications the interaction and desertion from a lore perspective.
@@Hitoshuratdn @HUNK ... it might have been Taldeer ... she is a Farseer and can "sense" other beings AND she has the ability to "confuse" them ... so they start shooting targets at RANDOM ... maybe even comrades ...

In Kronus none the less...
I think it's the words of The Librarian in DOW. Perfect match with the clip lol
To be fair, if there was a situation for a Vindicare to disobey orders, it’s in this one. The Vindicares unlike most spec ops organizations within the Imperium have not had their emotions removed only heavily suppressed through lots of psychological torment in training to the point of near non existence, think of it like a guardsman of Krieg they still have complex emotions they’ve just been so repressed that they show only rarely. A human male’s mind will be reluctant to kill in this situation given that their mind has not been physically altered in any way. The Eldar is alone, not doing anything bad, pretty, and dying, if there is a point where such an occurrence will happen it is in this situation.
Eldar can be pretty frightening psykers though, right? It could be a considerable threat to him.
It is a xeno, it's existence is b a d >:c
ツAdorable Centurion I get the point and to be specific it is a farseer but he is a sniper who has the advantage of surprise on this half dead eldar who’s more concerned with the Necrons below the surface than in her mind possible pursuing humans, in a moment like this it is entirely up to the sniper and the sniper alone of whether they want this thing dead or not
@@TheHappyUruk If the eldar wasn't his target, then I guessssss it makes sense for him to not act.

"It was heresy, but Emperor be praised it was some of the most badass shit I had ever seen brother."
While this is indeed extra-heretical, the animation is quite impressive, and definitely well worth the wait :) Keep up the good work, Cloud!
Is it heretical? Xeno has their own department of inquisitors. The heretical department does not deal with the zeno.
collaborating with xenos is heresy yes.
Guess there a few space marines chapters that are heretics.
doomblackdragon you mean the traitor legions like the alpha legion and the world eaters
No. I mean space marines Matt Ward writes about. Who bro fist necrons. Which is now cannon. :P
I thought the "Bloom" in the title was referring to the fact that Necrons started blooming from the ground cause I'm a fucking idiot apparently
Right on point brother.
Love can Bloom.
I thought "bloom" referred to the sound his bolter would make when he blew that Elders brains out.
I expected extensive patterns of bloodstains formed on the ground by imperial guardsmen
thats pretty goofey
> Eldar Farseers are incredibly powerful psychic beings gifted with amazing powers of premonition and destruction.
> Farseer hits metal men with her stick.
Seems legit...
Eldars after this situation: Okay, so just make our banshes fight without helmets and we will win.
To be fair, I do find this incredibly beautiful.
What makes the Imperium stand out it's not its power, its steel and its mercilessness... it's the fact that, at the end of the day, the soldiers of the Imperium are still humans. There are many other races that are stronger, crazier, more cruel and more powerful than the humans, but the latter still hold the ground and resist, all the while remaining human.
And sometimes, being human means feeling pity and being merciful. Sometimes, to BE human means doing the right thing, even if it's opposed to everyone else's expectation.
Sometimes, you just have to be BETTER than the things you fight against, if just to have something to distinguish you from them.
If she was instead a fat, ugly man would you still think it was the right thing to do?

Still good rolls. It is surprisingly easy for a Vindicare to fail at killing a target. Whether it's failing to hit, failing to wound, failing to get through the opponent's regular armour, or just rolling piss poor on damage. There are lots of opportunities to roll a 1, and I've never once succeeded at killing anything with a vindicare, even 3 of them firing at the same target without moving.

Remember, this is legal in the Emperor's eyes. NOT heresy
No it's not, the Emperor would sooner cast your soul into the void than let you mate with xeno's filth you dirty heretic. Just because his son like's eldar cheeks doesn't mean the Emperor approves it.
@@rileyboy10 Emperor specifically said to retain their humanity (emotions) and NOT worship him, for Gods were not real. But then he died and people twisted it to save face and have a rallying cry.
@@135Fenrir Exactly, and the point I was making above is that the Emperor, favouring humankind above all else, and wanting to purge the entire universe of non-human life forms, or at the very least have humans stand at the very top of them all, would hate to see his sons and humanity accepting xenos as potential allies. He wished for another golden era of mankind, to see them surpass all other races, this would make him vomit in disgust.

AzurFenix It's called "Love can Bloom". It's about a Vindicare assassin falling in love with the Farseer Taldeer after the events of Dark Crusade. Pretty famous on the /tg/ board of 4chan, cause a local writefag (what they call anons who write fanfic and stuff) was the one who made it.

I don't know what surprises me more, that someone actually made an animated short out of love can bloom, or that Fantasy Flight Games made it kind of canon? The art and effort in this is appreciated, keep up the good work.
Paul Gola wait so love can bloom is basically a fanfic that ascended to godhood?
+Shadow Butcher it's absolute heresy. Surprisingly interesting and well written, but heresy nonetheless.
Wait how did it make canon?
Erebus Von Mori its mentioned as a easter egg in some of the games, most of which are canon. Including all easter eggs within them.
That's absolutely hilarious, I'll have to go reread my rulesbooks to find it.
Robute Gulliman: I understand.
Not entirely heresy, the Eldar has fought side by side with several loyalist chapter, such as Blood Ravens and Imperial Fists

I HAVE RETURNED, 326! TO FINALY PUT AN END TO YOUR- oh, wrong place.
Dude, you're a great animator but you need to get some better models. The old Dawn of War 1/2 stuff doesn't do your work justice.
If you ever gain enough support on Patreon to commission some custom Source models alongside some high quality original textures then do it. Your directing style is strong, the depth of field effects were used flawlessly, editing, sound design and voice acting was all of a high quality and although the walk cycles/Combat against the Necrons weren't the best you're still a hundred times better than most of the SFM community and you can very clearly see the models are what was holding your talent back.
Just get in contact with some 3D Modelists and texture artists who have experience with the source engine.
It will bump you up to the next level.
EDIT:
I just donated to your patreon, I know it's not a lot but In can spare the $4 you're asking for, and hopefully I can donate more as time passes. But in the meantime I hope this helps.

Snake, can love bloom even on the battlefield?
Imperial Eagle Not for you, dude.
Yeah. I do... I think at any time, and any place. People can fall in love with each other.
It's like one of my Japanese animes!
Long before the Imperium's history, it was love that kept soldiers alive on the battlefield. Imperial scholars have found records of tribal Bandofthebes that were sacred couplings of men who fought alongside one another to protect their lovers. Because who they were fighting for was in close proximity, their motivation to keep going was impossible to lose. So great was their ferocity that they even managed to defeat the mighty Spartans.
I keep coming back to this one. Thanks, CoJ, for kickstarting my animating passion.
2:42 Ive bee recently learning from the lore and if I rememeber correctly, the Imperial guard cant shoot her because it is said that her race has inmense psychick power capable of break minds and they even made an entity out of their power who they consider a god, their power is so great it might have persuaded the mind of the Imperial Guard so he couldnt shoot or move, it is also said that these alien women give in to violence and pleasures..
No, this is a copypasta from 4chan awhile ago when they made a story about a vindicare assasin sent to clean up the eldar leftovers from the conflict revolving around the planet kronus. He was sent specifically to kill a highly dangerous eldar witch who survived the conflict known as Farseer Taldeer.
@@newtonia-uo4889 so.. why couldnt he shoot her? was she using her mind powers over him?
@@localdude2979 Dunno, it was from a decade ago, I vaguely remember the reason as to why the vindicare didn't just shoot her directly is because she was an eldar farseer with the gift of foresight, so he had to be extremely sure that the farseer had her guard down before he took the killing shot.
So during that time, he stalked her, waiting for her to let her guard down and slowly but surely started forming an attachment to her. Its a stupid story but its funny because of how ridiculous yet wholesome it is.
