This interview makes as much sense as Inherent Vice does. Love it.

Was this edited to reflect how confusing the movie was?

Seems like Waterston and Malone were the only ones trying to convey it.

Does anyone else think that Joaquin and Toby Maguire are kind of like the polarities of one and the same dude?

Inherent vice may or may not work as a novel. Haven't read it. Apparently, most that haven't are bored by this film, as the story is told so unclearly. And un-entertainingly. So and so might have, what's his name could have, the other guy, whose name i forget, was involved, maybe, or i don't know maybe it's just a memory fart or hallucination. Fucking boring. Faithfully reproduced 70's imagery and great Neil Young tunes can't make up for the badly woven tale.
The film has loads of filler, ordinary, irrelevant, boring scenes of people in cars, or picking at their toenails, or walking on some LA boulevard with 70's music that's supposed to "put you back there". The voice overs by Lege and all dialogue rendered by Über-proto hippie valley chick Shasta are just annoying sounding, probably direct quotes from the book, sound like new age drugger bullshit, not funny not deep not amusing, just trip hippie silly ass sounding shit. Makes me not want to pick up any "Pychonesque" book. I was there, MAN, the shit wasn't this deep and dark and complicated, and when it was, with the LA PD and FBI and Nazi fuck Angels and developers, it sure as hell wasn't light, sweet and hippie trippy fun. Lots of cliche, boring drug and jokey sex scenes to liven up the movie,. zzzzzzzz Maybe plays well to 18 year olds fascinated with the 60's. yawn and click and eject and take it back to the library. i don't care how the "story" pans out. Luckily I did not waste any money on this.Just wasted and hour or so getting bored out of my skull.
