Joaquin always seems to be thinking about boats or something in these press conferences. He's awesome.
He's really not a fan of them
jokesterr119 of boats?
BunnyMan456 Press Conferences and interviews.
giodashorts and boats
This thread from 4 years ago made me crack 😂😂🤣
joaquin is so done with press conferences and media
joaquin didnt say a single word haha and when the girl tried to hand him the microphone he just looked away, what the fuck was he doing. love that dude.
Imposible no amarlo!!
So freaking rude
Love him for being a dick?
I call my left hand Palm Thomas Handerson.
Andrew Johnson You were the worst president ever.
And your right wes handerson?
Aww the guy at 6:35 is so nervous yet excited to be able to talk to Martin Short
Joaquin hates explaining his or the movies work. Daniel Day Lewis has said before that there is something wonderful about the mystery of what these guys do. Let's please keep it that way. I respect Joaquin a lot.
That's why they're the best actors of our time.
He doesn't understand the movies
@@Paul-qv6pr It's been four months but do you still believe the oscar-winning actor doesn't understand his own movies?
In fairness, Day Lewis even laughs about the fact that he doesn't want or need to speak about his films. He feels all that stuff is guff. What he does isn't that important. It's only a movie at the end of the day and although the people involved work very hard to make it, like all great art, movies are useless.
@@garbohydrates193 He may not, no. Just because he learns the role and excels in it, it does not follow that he understands the director's full intentions. Phoenix has been in two Anderson movies now, but do you think he knows why Anderson had his strange obsession with Exodus? Does he understand why Anderson references Kubrick in the way he does? Whoever posted that comment is not calling Phoenix and idiot, but he he is saying he will not know as much about the film as the guy who made it.
Paul can never disappoint, this is going to be a fucking awesome film!!!
These NYFF press conferences are so awkward yet so damn interesting
First comment I read about the awkwardness (eye striking!), I had to stop the video after the first minutes :D I love the cast and the movie so much, but I don't how long I'll be able to watch this
Joaquin needs to shut up and let other people speak............
he barely talked
Phreaker1997 it was irony
@@janad996 sarcasm, but yeah
Dude, if he shuts up there’ll be no one left to speak ! 😜
His cool as f jus bein!!!....
Orson Welles/Stanley Kubrick/Paul Thomas Anderson
I don't know about that lol
I'd say Welles < Kubrick ≥ PTA
Iker C kubrick, welles, then paul.
uwe boll >> everyone else
James Nyugen.
Big ups to PTA for recognizing the importance of keeping film alive!!!
I love katherine waterston
Thank you Joaquin for all the insight. The one guy I wanted to hear talk about the movie. Oh well :)
That PTA jig at 0:44 is GIF-worthy
I love Joaquin but it would be nice if he shared the mic just once
He could at least not be a dick and just tell his costar hes good instead of leaving her their to hold it for him and look like a goof. i get being done with press conferences but dont be a dick to your fellow actors just cause you are mad about something you agreed to do
@@coreytrevor1920 i dont think he's being a dick, they know him, they're friends and they already know that he hates this, If anything is just a " oh this is my awkward friend" type of situation
@@coreytrevor1920 Nope. Joaquin has this quirky adorable way about him. . Don't like interviews but he knows it's part of the job.
God what a cast, too good to be true. So hyped to see Inherent Vice.
I'd like to hate Joaquin for not interacting but I'm pretty sure I'd act the exact way.
you can tell all of them wouldve chosen not to say anything if they had the balls or the clout
Joaquin is such a BOSS 28:05
Yeah, that's my man
2:02...greatest most disturbing smile ever.
a toothless hound-dog choking on a feather?
After reading this I noticed, and lol dude spot on
Oh no... Poor guy :( My heart-
katythekyng fuck you now I feel bad for laughing you’re such a massive bitch
PTA is starting to look like one of his heroes, Robert Altman. Another great movie from the greatest modern Hollywood film maker. I am alone, so far, in thinking this may be his best film to date.
Joaquin speaks too much :D
soadroli sure, but he also thinks too haha
He really should slow down a bit
Happy to see Jena Malone play in a PT Anderson movie for the 1st time. With her hair dyed red she portrays Hope Harlingen. She's gonna be awesome in it because of her talent as an actress, so i'm looking forward to seeing this movie.
YES!!! people asking real film questions not just "how does it feel to be famous?"
I so much can't wait!
I fucking love PTA. Dude is the goat.
I wonder what Benicio and Joaquin were talking about, haha
28:07 Joaquin is like tf you want me to do with that mic😂😂 I love him❤
I was there at the Premiere!
Wow how was it?
Joanna!!!!!!!!
joaquin's too cool for these plebs (minus pta of course)
Man, I could listen to Paul Thomas Anderson talk about film forever but these things can be so difficult to watch. The long silences and stuff between questions with the actors and stuff just looking around at one another are so awkward.
It's not that awkward.
TopDog69 play it at speed 1.5
don't do that
Joaquin is so awkward... he's like avoiding the mic. Damn. He's such a great actor and so GREAT in this I wanted to hear his thoughts.
What a cast
Joanna at around 22 minutes in looks and sounds as when she started playing the harp in public around 2004-2006. How bizarre this whole experience must have been.
Nice hair Paul
WHAT?! His long hair looks awful on him. Looks better w short hair.
Andrew Johnson I disagree. He's doing a 90s haircut, and I think it's a nice different look for him.
zxbc ever wonder why today's hair fashion doesn't really employ anything from the 90's? His haircut is terrible.
Nabil leal Fashion comes and goes, and sometimes comes around again. I grew up in the 90s and I like stuff from the 90s. It's a matter of taste, something you get to understand as you grow older. There's more 90s influence in today's fashion and pop culture than you may realize.
No there isn't, today's hair fashion is heavily influenced by that of the 50's. Clean cuts, pompadours, etc. in fact most of these hairstyles have survived every generation since -including the 90's.
I was sixteen in 1970. They did it pretty good.
rip michael k williams 👑
Two of America's greatest writers (Anderson and Newsom) collaborating in some capacity...I can't decide if the pros of her working with him outweigh the cons of delaying her next album lol
24:28 when ms newsome hands michael k williams the mic
FUCK YEAH...FINALLY
What's so odd to me is how these actors who are in front of people ALL the time can be so awkward. I know some of them only do film/TV but to some extent public speaking is part of their jobs. Mya Rudolph is great because she's used to SNL. PTA is always a good interviewee. And the more I see Michael K. Williams interviewed, the more I like him.
It shouldn't be strange. They get on stage or in front of a camera pretending to be someone else!! It's no wonder they seem shy or awkward when presenting themselves.
19:47 dat laugh...
Jimmy Page lol, thought you meant him.
Hey she's on edge, she's been made into a Hollywood actress which has a major effect of her sense of not being enough and therefore she overcompensate. And aside from that it's egocentric/Luciferian/ low morale environment. So she's dealing with a lot, they all are. A lot of rumor of child sacrifice and blood ritual and orgies and casting couches. It's a evil place. Makes regular people wicked.
Joaquin just doesn't give a fuck and I
love it!!!
I love how Pheonix refuse to talk, and the only one who does so. He notoriously hates press conferences, and commonly leaves to go smoke outside more than once per conference.
Is Shasta really stands on 5'11 in the book or is it just the actress?
the sound on your vids are always too low...
The sound is really irritating on these videos yeah. For the most part it's really quiet so you turn it right up and then you'll suddenly get someone talking loudly and it just comes blaring through obscenely loud. Aggravating.
TopDog69 nice avatar pic bro
yeah, they need to learn to use a FUCKING COMPRESSOR so you don't get SUDDEN UNCOMFORTABLE JUMPS in volume. how can the people working at a goddamn film festival not know these absolute basics?
The Master > There Will Be Blood > Magnolia > Inherent Vice > Punch-Drunk Love > Boogie Nights > Hard Eight
Best working director today.
You wrote this before Phantom Thread.
can regular people get tickets to these kinds of things?
Joaquin didn't say a word.
The guy at 6:30 really went for it 😂
Straight Weirdo should've been in the movie
This movie and the Irishman are the two movies I've looked forward to most in a long time and I can't wait to see it.
hit my email up if you want a draft of the irishman
How did you find the Irishman?
Maybe this movie isn't for everyone, but I enjoyed it, give me more PTA and Joaquin movies.
Licorice pizza is a good Anderson flick
Joaquin was the main character and said nothing. I love how chill he is.
One of the question askers sounds like J.G. Quintel
Is it me, or is Mr. Phoenix not happy to be there?
He is barely ever happy too do interviews or press conferences. It's just... Joaquin.
there's such weird people in the audience. love it.
Someone edited this - or at least chose camera angles.. Too bad they didn't take time to mix the sound, which veers from inaudible to pinning the meters.
Yikes, people.
26:58 why does Joaquin look so angry 😂
I don't know, but it is cute 😂💕
fuck i must read the novel again
I just finished it today. I am sad it's over
just waiting for a beaver shot
Hes films are not for everyone magnolia is my favorite films of his but i know its not movie for everyone u must feel close to his feelings about life you know..he has certain style if u like it u like if undont u dont ..magnolia is mu favorive
why isn't doc's sidekick there? :(
a clementine yeah Penny is not there either.
One of the most excruciating things in the world is to listen to actors talking when they are not acting.
I wanna live in the universe where Robert Downey Jr played Doc Sportello
Oh yeah, he could have done it for sure. His character at the end of Zodiac isn't too far away from the lead character here
Where's Reese Witherspoon?
she's busy eating with her spoon
Jena Malone is a wonder
+ « Everybody Loves Joaquin » !!! 100% X3
SASHA PIETERSE
So basically the genius is the director and and editors??? or did these guys all just have a late night ?
Fluid Heart Yoga Kristin yes
Fast forward to 26:30 to see/hear the wonderful Katherine Waterston .
Damn... I feel bad for Katherine
why??
no BIGFOOT :'/
Brolin is such a great actor. He was so fucking funny in this
Nobody:
PTA: C L A P
Maya and Paul are married!!
KaT has replaced January Jones in my dreams. She had bobbed hair though & funny I never knowd who they are until i wake up
"2-shots... pushing in..." not quite the first time in a PTA flick... did that guy ever watch any other of his films???
My man PTA is liiit haha he was so coked up
I know he was fond of the sniff back in his early days, but he seems a lot more chill lately. He's just displaying nervous energy here I think.
@@davidlean1060 likely still a sniffer
@@theconsciousobserver6829 Not to the extent he was when he made Boogie Nights and Magnolia though.
Amazing book, amazing movie & cast. Pynchon conspiracy theory: Mickey Wolfmann bad guy likely based on Roland Arnall real estate grifter in 1970’s Orange County & nationally in the 2000’s. Arnall was Bush’s biggest contributor, sponsored the Texas Rangers & wound up as Bush’s Amb. to Luxembourg with $3 billion from selling fraud based loans to Lehman Bros. He supposedly “died” in 2008 just before Lehman & banks failed as told in the book “Monster” (as in Wolfmann). And like, who cares already? Pynchon cared. Joaquin?? He did great as Doc. Messed up the Academy Awards & glad he kept quiet here.
1.12 and 28.03 something not right between joaquin and girl in blue. And jiminy gilick is holding himself in michael shorts body from slaying them all
This is the most awkward panel event I’ve ever seen
Sorry Xavier Dolan ( still love your work) but Paul is definitely my idol. The master was a brilliant and beautiful investigation into the beginnings of a cultural exploitative cult movement which is still very much active today but is something that has acquired an illusion of legitimacy. I love Pauls work every film he makes is brilliant to study over and over again. I like the first questioneer would also like an in depth interview of Paul regarding his process.
Joaquin...te amo con todo mi ❤
Japonica can see in the dark, just like Paris.
...and her father obsesses about tacky hotels...
Who has that laugh at 5:42 mmmhahaha ? xD
Jenna “you know” Malone
press conferences are so bloody awkward
we made peace amy ....fuck.... going to make peace with meeeeee? after trying destroy me? like this isnt done then...
jenna malone got that red hair ready for batman v superman
lol
lol
14:20 she's hot!
She also referred to Martin Short as Steve Martin.
@@rushmore309 typical blonde
9:40 lmao he looks befuddled. She's so right though, you even see this in his two newest movies the female perspective is more central
What does Paul Thomas anderson mean when he says "literature" is a bad word?
Matthew Sebastiao he said “literary” was bad in that it is an unhelpful word when describing literature. It’s like calling a painting “painterly”.
+ 28:08 / « Get What U Fucking Deserve :) Microphone » !!!!!! 100% X3
everyone here looks uncomfortable and it just seems awkward.
this movie had tremendous potential, but it went off the rails with the whole tooth/dentist thing
jena is whip smart woke and brave
jenna malone is one hot tamale
Magnolia > There Will Be Blood > Boogie Nights > Punch Drunk Love > Hard Eight > The Master............. Inherent Vice????????
watch it a few more times.I am starting to think it's his best movie to date.
Inherent Vice is definitely the worst film of PTA. Not that is that bad, but his others are so better. And I doubt it can grow on you, The Master can grow on you and is better each time you watch it, Inherent Vice is just exhausting.
David Lean
It feels like when the Coens did Ladykillers but way way way to much happening and a storyline that makes you not even care what happens
I couldn't disagree more, I love it, but then again I have read some Pyhcon before and I recognize it, you get me? Not only do I think this will become my fav PTA film, I think it's also the most subversive he has made. I could go into why, but all people seem interested in at this early stage is that the film is confusing..it isn't, because the film is not about 'the plot'.
David Lean I know this film is not about the plot, but about what is it really? All other elements are incoherent too. I think this film doesn't' succeed in any way to convey something. All things feels all over the place, so I don't really care about anything that's going on. I think that's the biggest problem. PTA films should not make you drowsy and exhausting. Ok there were some moments and some potentially cool atmoshpere but as a whole... it was such a unpleasant experience and such a disappointment. I highly doubt it I would check this film soon again and I consider myself as a PTA fan so I don't say that easily.
joaquin phoneix = no fucks given
unbelievably awkward
too bad they couldn't cast River instead of Joaquin, i'm sad :(
Too bad that River was an irresponsible drug abuser and killed himself? yeah too bad.
well the comment is really strange but the reply is very disrespectful. Joaquin gets casted because he's really good for roles, not to mention, he's a great actor. there's no connection between his career and his brother's, and he definitely doesn't get roles instead of River. but it's very sad indeed that we can't see River anymore. he was a great person, judging by things he's said and did, and a wonderful actor. he had his reasons, and this shouldn't have happened. we're not the ones to point fingers and define his actions. and it's simply rude to talk that know-it-all-ish way about someone's life.
Sasha Reitern hes not acting like a know it all. What he said are cold hard facts. Dude killed himself. The end
