Rule of thumb: Never sign a Pep winger, especally after their 26th Birthday. (Or a Klopp explayer) Pep overworks his wingers and by the time they are 28 they have nothing left. Jack Grealish is the most recent example. Arsenal fan here and we got a very old Gabriel Jesus. You can't press forever with premier lg tempo and expect a long career. Julian Alvarez was right to leave Man City or he'd waste his prime pressing manically to help manage De Bryune's toll. Or Pep actually makes average player better than they really are with his tactical acumen where everything seem choreographed. Leroy Sane is another example.
Raheem Sterling has been average for the past year and as a fan of his I understand why the manager doesn't want to deal with a big personality, especially when he's on the bench. This is why my boy Sadio Mane got let go at Bayern. But the whole team has been average. James ought to be the first exit.
To be honest Raheem has to go to Villa. Emery can actually coach him and use him properly. He does have to lose some weight but he's perfect for the 4-4-2.

Do you even understand what "contract" means or anything what is being said means ? Are you Sterling's maid or something who is afraid of getting his salary chalked off, if his owner's wages are reduced ? Nobody is advocating for not honoring contracts. It seems like ESPN comment section is exactly the same I left it few years ago, i.e., filled with tribal low IQ r e t a r d s.
Let me try to explain it to you further -
Frank is saying that Sterling should love the game and take some wage cut like he did when he was in Chelsea's contract and asked for a transfer request to Marseille in his playing days where he actually took a wage cut because he wanted to play football and didn't run down his Chelsea contract. If Sterling makes a transfer request and goes, contract is breached and club is not liable to pay him. He can request for it but club is not liable. Frank is not saying contract should not be honored. It's just that Sterling should prioritize football more and it is not that Sterling would play for free. His wage after a percent cut off of 315k pounds per week is still a lot (it's per week, mind you, and he has already earned money).
Craig and Nicol are saying that it is unlikely that a player like Sterling would take wage cut and not down his contract for 3 more years and then would play somewhere else. Nicol thinks a young guy like Sterling would think that his career is still long and would not understand the short lifespan of a football until he retires. Craig and Nicol are also not saying that contract should not be honoured.
TLDR - So, nobody is against contract honouring or against paying "that mman his money" or neither are advocating for cutting wage within INSIDE the contract. It's all about priorities, an d I lean toward's Frank's opinion especially after he can back it up with his own football career history.

@@limbeboy7 Another pleb here. I wonder how it feels to live day to day life by having this low IQ of comprehensive abilities of things being said around. Does it feel like a bliss like you're high or something ? Nobody on the panel is supporting that Chelsea should cut off his wage and not honour the contract and they would agree that "if he sucks it's their fault for agreeing to pay that much", as would I.
They are instead discussing what Sterling should do. One half is saying that he can choose to chill out, run down his contract and get the wages. Frank is saying he should go to another club and be willing to BREAK his Chelsea contract and take a wage cut for the love of playing football since footballer's life span is short, as Frank himself did in his playing days when he willingly put a transfer request to Marseille and took a wage cut, when he couldn't get minutes at Chelsea. That's what they are discussing.

He needs to go play a season in Ligue 1 for anyone who will give him high minute's and then Serie A or Liga. Stay at Chelsea and have them pay half his salary for him to go out on loan, Danny Drinkwater sat on the sidelines until his contract ran out.
MLS will pay him premium after his contract runs out at Chelsea.

And Sterling wants to get back into the England side, which isn't going to happen if he sits and sulks at Chelsea. It's not as if he is short of money either.
