the answer is - the differences in audiences. male creators, if they arent overtly political, left leaning and "woke", tend to gather around themselves male audiences who arent into politics in the same way many female and lgbtq audiences tend to be. especially with brit who has talked about semi-political sociological topics who has gathered people who care about ongoing issues from a certain point of view. as someone who sometimes finds myself around hobbies that tend to gather majority of men, like gaming for example, your arguments wont even break through them because of innate differences in how things operate. yall will just sound like crazy twitter mob that tries to cancel a non-political creator and in turn be dismissed by them. especially from the outside

@@yannikovsky7041 it’s not being a “crazy Twitter mob” to ask famous people to use their platforms for awareness of genocide. Silence is violence even if you’re not a political content creator. This is how genocide happens, people that use the excuse of “that’s not my type of content” or “I don’t know enough about the topic” that allows the genocide to continue unchecked. As people with massive platforms, they hold much more power than the average social media user with no followers. They have the power to spread awareness much faster than non-influencers. Flat out refusing to use that position of power and influence during an ongoing genocide is wrong. Silence. Is. Violence. Period.

To the people who are STILL not satisfied after she’s spoken up about this, this is to you…
Get a literal grip. Brittany was waiting to speak about it until she felt more informed and then one of her close friends leaked her video and she was forced into rushing a speech about it and then people said it was disingenuous. I respect people who come out and admit they don’t know enough about a situation to be speaking on it which is exactly what she was saying, she wanted to be informed enough to make sense because she does know how impactful her words are and the pressure that is put on her because of it.
You people are putting WAY too much faith in these influencers. You’re putting all this effort into sharting on Brittany instead of doing literally anything to help.
Brittany is very familiar with gay rights and feminism and racism enough to speak on these things. Speaking on THIS is so severely different so you can not compare them whatsoever. It’s important to be informed before speaking to millions of your followers because they’re going to go on to repeat what she says.
And I don’t wanna hear about “well she has such a huge platform ..blah bleh BLEGHH”. She doesn’t have a bigger platform then let’s say…Brad Pitt, Jennifer Aniston, Halle Berry, Will Smith, and all these high up celebrities who (no offense but) have no idea who Brittany even is, who have even BIGGER/MASSIVE platforms, fans, and ears, yet no one’s mentioning them whatsoever. Those celebrities could speak up on actual television/ or talk shows and reach way more people than a CZcamsr/Tiktoker. Honestly Brittany is the only one I’ve seen being attacked for this. Why is that?
If you would put half of the effort into actually helping by calling, writing in to our elected officials as you’re putting into this activism performance and the copy and pasting bandwagon you’ve hopped on, you might actually could make some sort of difference. How can you be so blind to that fact?

With the way social media is being used as a weapon, it's really hard to figure out the "most moral" view to have, and who to side with, but the way you addressed it as "I don't know everything about this situation, but people are suffering and I am not ok with that", was so real and shines a light on the idea of standing against the violence and suffering, no matter who the victim is. with everything going on and how helpless people already feel, the conflict between peoples opinions is so overwhelming and discouraging, and with people on the internet always competing to be the "most moral" or "best educated", it's so comforting to see someone say "I am doing the best I can in the position I'm in, and at the same time, it's a lot and I don't know everything, but what I do know is that I do not stand for violence". Something I've learnt as I've gotten older: If you care about these issues I'd suggest finding a local activist group or a protest to attend. Put your effort into places where it will actually be visible to the people who are making these decisions, and maybe more importantly, visible to the people who need our solidarity. Social media stars and celebrities - just because they're at the centre of YOUR world - doesn't mean they have, in the bigger picture, the right influence and outreach (or knowledge) to spark anything meaningful. Social media is a powerful tool for activism but in the end, no policy maker is thoughtfully scrolling down those analysis threads on Twitter. Rather than encouraging a social media personality to speak for you, group together visibly with others.

Its simply about using your platform for solidarity and bringing it to the attention of her millions of viewers, some of whom might not know anything about this and now will be interested in learning. Of course it is the government's job to do something about this, but public pressure is part of that. We need as many people as possible speaking up. Solidarity is, after all, free.

While we shouldn't expect influencers to suddenly be the all to our news sources and politics, it changes when its a creator who preaches so much on using their platform. If she didn't feel comfortable speaking on it, she should have been sharing resources and pointing to creators who DO know what to say. Was it wrong to wait? Yea I think it was. Should she have simply mentioned her stance and expanded on it later? probably. In my humble opinion, this is not a ‘cancelable’ offense. Let her learn from this and be better as a creator, let her be human. Shes also taking the criticism quite well as a learning experience as Ive hoped.
You’re doing good Ms. Broski, this too shall pass, learn and continue~

yessss like you can be genuinely decent and kind and speak up for all the right things, but a single misstep will be viewed as a "mask off" moment. like what do people think is more likely, that somebody was a secret evil bigot hiding their hateful views the whole time, or that they were misinformed or had a bad take once? if people feel hurt or annoyed by the way she handled this and don't want to watch her content anymore then that's obviously their prerogative and that's fine, i just don't understand the impulse to attribute everything to malice.

"If you have a platform and you have people's ear,you have their attention, how dare you not speak about things that matter" -brittany broski
to everyone wondering why so many people relied on her to give an opinion in the first place, this is why. yes, she is a comedian, but she has also, on numerous occasions, spoken out on injustices. many people were hoping that she would show solidarity and not undermine the situation at hand. just because she is a comedian, she has been so vocal on political issues before, there was no reason to change right now. this is why people wanted her to speak up. so many people are unaware of the situation and she has the influence to change their opinions. yet she was silent on her platform. I appreciate this video that she has put out, but it is important to acknowledge why people were mad at the first place.

This isn’t me trying to start an argument with you, and I totally understand because she has been adamant about using her platform to amplify voices. Maybe sharing links to petitions, sharing info etc etc. totally understand. But in the same breath, I don’t think she should be held accountable for those who are somehow still unaware of the situation. The war has been broadcast on social media platforms since the beginning, and also there’s news stations. If people are relying on a comedic content creator for her opinion on an active horrible war, it’s kinda time to step away from the computer for a bit. I think we sometimes put content creators on a pedestal and forget they’re just human. It’s also not like her opinion is on the side of the oppressor. It would absolutely be a different story if that were the case. Instead, it’s just about how quickly she addressed the war. Again, no disrespect at all and I just wanted to give another perspective, not an argument.

@@Thatssuper people are asking her for solidarity more than anything, every voice does count in a situation like this, especially when those in power aren’t doing anything. she’s a content creator with a huge platform, and im sure more than anything she was aware of what was happening. all that most of ask is just a post showing her support for the Palestinians. sure content creators are human just like us, but they have a larger influence than the average human being, and they have the platform to change opinions and spread awareness. it’s every human’s responsibility to speak out and be the voices for those who are unable to do so for themselves, regardless or not if they are a “comedic content creator”. I appreciate that she did speak out about it at the end, but i do think it is justified why people are mad in the first place. No disrespect to you or anything of course, just think that it’s valid that people are upset especially when their own people are dying.

I think it’s okay to be scared of saying the wrong thing, but I think everyone, not just influences/celebrities, but every day people need to learn that waiting around for the perfect words to say, is not helpful solidarity for the oppressed people being killed everyday. In order for change to happen, we just speak loudly against what we know is wrong, immediately!! Americans are very privileged at times with this idea that “oh that’s unfortunate for them, but what could I possibly do?” Just speaking out and having hard conversations can mean the world. Don’t let the government and these corporations convince you that you can not make a difference. Thank you Britney for speaking on this matter and taking it seriously. #freepalestine

You do not get to decide for everyone that they're now your local representative. maybe focus on doing a better job "holding accountable" your actual politicians.

I also understand she is just one person. However she and Drew are seen as outspoken feminist anticolonial voices in the mainstream, and at least providing visibility and solidarity should have come much sooner. The tone of that video leaked from her close friends story was distasteful and impulsive, two things which should not be the tone of a video regarding genocide. I appreciate the apology, and hopefully look forward to seeing more steps towards authentic solidarity.

I only replied to 2 of them and said “I hope you find the peace you need” they are just people who have literally nothing better to do apparently, it was so obvious.
