This ole Chevy has been sitting for just two or three years, but in that short time, things can get out of hand quick! Wonder how well this rig can clean up?

When I was a kid in the very early 50's I would catch a ride to school in a '49 two-door. One day I got in the back seat to go home and the kid in the front seat slammed my fingers in the door.......Memories? Yep, I got 'em. Damn, those are really zoot rims someone put on that old scooter.
I've had my fingers mashed a time or two myself. Looking back, it's a wonder any of us survived at all.
CHEERS! 🇺🇸
@@armedinbama You know, I think it was a better way to grow up than it is today. We learned (sometimes painfully) how to take care of ourselves.
@@tomnekuda3818 Can't argue with that logic! 👍
I'd definitely run period correct wheels and tires. Looks like that's all it needs to look great
2000s or 10s rims on a classic car - it's pure, or you can say "Super Sport Performance Six Pack GT Package" way of cringe.
I can picture it with some gloss black steel rims with dog dish chrome center hub caps.
Gangsta
Looks like it cleaned up pretty nice. I would ditch those wheels and find either a set of original wheels or put a set of Cragar's on it.

I just wanted to say my thoughts go out to families including yours that have endured tremendous trauma from the storms that have devastated Tennessee,Kentucky and other states that have seen loss and devastation.
Thank you
God bless y'all
Such a cool looking fastback ,even as a 4door 🤘🏽Hope its now staying on the streets longer than before.
I didn't appreciate post war cars until recently. That 4 door fastback styling is mind boggling to me. I'd rock that car all day long.
Born in '56 so a lot of these older cars were still on the road as I grew up. Not a gm fan either-beyond a '60 Impala. A neighboring farmers wife had a '48-big ol ugly-and a bud liked '52s which I couldn't understand. I'd put this '49 in my driveway tho. Difference is the rearend from the backdoor. I just don't remember a lot of these being around. FOMOCO and gm did a complete change for '49, the fords being a lot more modern looking so guessing they really out sold the gm.
I'd love to see AMMO NYC detail that car. You can see that the paint is still really good! The interior needs an overhaul but that thing looks beautiful! I'd also get rid of those rims and put period correct rims on.
I agree. There are vehicles for those rims and tires aren't it. How about a set of Cragars and normal tires then a split manifold and a set of Hollywoods?
I usually don't like modern wheels on old cars, but it really works on this one. Nice looking car.
Sweet ride minus the wheels. Sure the backseat is a heck of a story
Such a poor choice of rims indeed
Ya gotta love a 16 minute revival. Be great to see that thing brought back to original-ish.
Beautiful young car. I was born in 49. My teenage car was a 53 Chevy. Great video.
Was amazed how quiet the engine runs. Car looks good but those rims only look okay and not enough meat between the road with those thin wall tires, always look flat.
Me too !!!! AMAZING !!!!!!!!!!
These cars were meant to have regular steel rims with dog dish hubcaps, and wide whitewall tires.
These wheels look terrible on this cat. Needs steelies and Bias ply's
Looks like at least the left front really is flat!
I was thinking how dope those rims look!
I drove a '49 Chevy Fleetline 2 door when i was in High school. The same color as the one in the video.
Brought back some really good memories. Thanks for the video.
MAN THAT'S A BEAUTIFUL CAR ... good work fellas 👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Absolutely stunning car. It's awesome to see Dylan out of his natural habitat of moparland and working on some GM stuff. That Chevy is in phenomenal shape. Glad to see it back on the road. Dylan, your content just gets better and better. Keep doing God's work brother! You the man!
Heck yeah! I have a soft spot for Chevrolet. Glad you helped the guy out
Hopefully that inspired Levi to give it some winter love and keep driving it for next summer.
For some reason, I love that car!
You and me both!
Thank you for helping that ol girl back out on the road again. Awesome job man.👍👍👍
That’s a cool car. Great color too. The wheels kinda grew on me a little bit as the episode went on. Still not my style, but they don’t look too bad.
almost a restomod look. they were decent
SO NICE TO SEE HER RIDE AGAIN ! HER SISTER HAS BEEN SLEEPING IN MY GARAGE FOR 32 YEARS NOW . SAD STORY. ...
1949 PONTIAC 4 DOOR DELUXE STREAMLINER , SAME COLOR.....
I WISH YOU THE BEST.
Well, you managed to come up with one of my favorite old rides, thanks for bringing it to life for us!
Thank you for sharing this with my family. I know your always too busy to reply anymore, but the parents love this and if the 70's something are made happy, you have done everyone a great service. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you and the family. Thank you again.
This brought back some memories! My first car was a 1949 Chevy four door. What a beauty!
Nice oldie ride my friend,just
Needs a lil love…interior also
Paint n wheels is all u need here. Ride a true classic…
Please keep us updated…
Peace my friend…👍🏽
Them wheels are like something Boyd Coddington would put on back in the day 😂
Your enthusiasm is alway so infectious. This is a gorgeous car and it would be great to see lots of in detail shots of you working on it and the inner workings. That carburetor looked so odd...how interesting!
Good looking old Chevy. Take some steel wool to those chrome bumpers and they'll shine like new.
That Chevy was made one year after I was born. She looks beautiful.
This old girl is a blast from the past! Hopefully someone will give her a little love!
Awesome ‘49. Would love to see that Ole Girl with factory rims, original hubcaps & wide whitewalls. Reminds me of my native Cuba. Cheers from California.
Way To Go, Dylan! Video content plus depth in your following, knowlege with different car makes, and skill with being an accomplished repairman!
I've been into classic cars, mostly Mopars, most my life and this is the first time seeing this body style. This is a terrific looking 4 door, really like the body lines.
I'm glad to see that 49 Chevy running it's a nice ride thank you for the content.
Memories Same thing 1980! Walking by old garage. Went to the house talked to the daughter. Offered and put locks on the garage as it was sitting with open doors. I was in school but could not afford to buy it! But I do have this story. Regards Barry
Quick and easy fix, and away she goes!! Like that old freight shaker in the back when you first come rolling out of the barn
I love that model. I don't even care it's a four door because the style is still so cool. Good job!
OH my gosh. I had a 1949 but, not the deluxe model. Mine had a chevy 350/4bbl. Car was done nice. Problem with these cars, is that they are very heavy, but, nice sounding and pretty quick. I miss that car!!!
Dad had a white 49 fastback 4dr w/visor when we were kids. Drove it all over the UK before we moved back to the States and he traded it in for a 54 Mercury Monterey 2dr in NYC. Still have pics of that Chevy.
I see your into classic cars is Well! That's incredible Awesome
Love the stance of the ‘49’s. Those wheels have to go, but fantastically quiet engine and solid body. Overall a seriously, SERIOUSLY cool ride 👍👍
That color underneath all the dirt is absolutely beautiful 😍💜
Love the fact your helping people just found your Chanel
That’s a nice little fast back 4 door. Would look even sicker with a visor and lowered but overall a good looking car. Great to see it runs and drives!
Totally agree. Would put different rims on it also.
This 49 Chevy is downright beautiful!.....
Right on, Dylan Mcool!
That car has a beautiful style...so happy to see you put in work...amazing
much more interested in that old ford in the back.
Wow!!!! What a great car and the color and wheels are perfect, great find and I don't think it needs much more than some interior work
Dump the mag wheels, get some original wheels with baby moons , add the visor that came with some of them , fix the interior and enjoy the classic. Great old car!!
Really cool stuff thank you car owner for letting Dylam bring life back into this beautiful part of American history. Another note the Camaro wheels look great 👍
That place looks like a farm equipment collectors paradise oh man id have a field day just looking round listening to stories of where the stuff came from
Love the car...love the wheels that are on it. Gives the car a new dimension.
That’s beautiful. Like an old Morris minor
What a beauty! I would think I'd have died and gone to heaven if I ever got the opportunity to own one!
That looks, and sounds fantastic (it reminds me of the old V4/ 2stroke SAABs) Good job @DylanMcCool
Awesome. The best side-of-the-road way of cleaning corroded points is to use the striker from a matchbox. God Bless :)
Directionals @ 15:06 PRICELESS!!!!👍👍
What a beauty that car is!! Nostalgic for me, as my Godmother took my Mom to the hospital in Birmingham in March, 1950, for my birth in a 49 Chevy Deluxe. Hers was green. As my Dad was just back from the military, my parents did not have a car yet. As a toddler in Montevallo AL, I can remember that car.
Cant beat them old school chevys. Sharp looking car
This car looks very much like my dad's 51. The grill is a little different and a few other small things. His was a two door and rear fender skirts. As like yours it had the fastback trunk lid . Under the hood pretty much the same.
Great car you have there . Please don't street rod it .
From what I’ve seen he just gets em running, keeps em a while and sells em, but he might sadly cause it’s already been modified
Hope he doesn’t, again.
Yep the 51’s looked almost just like that. We had a two door fast back. Was the first car I drove. Was only 11 and had to have my left arm hand on the door so I could see over the dash. We had a dairy farm in Minnesota. Pulled hay racks, hauled feed and every now and then would pull the back see and haul a calf or two. The old inclosed driveshaft/reared finally gave out on my older brother trying to get the car going when he was rolling down a hill backwards. The old car would almost blow the little warm air from the heater before the radio would come on. Old tube radio. WDGY in the twin cities and some nights depending on the weather and if sitting on a hill we could get WLS in Chicago. AM radio only.
Wow that bath the paint came right around beautifull mirror Finish love that color @Dylan McCool
glad to see some CHEVY's on channel chevy thunder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i grew up with a 1950 parked in the yard and dreamed to fix it up never got the chance to bu that car is real nice to see driving on the road . For a 1949 chevy its like one of the best cars on the road today and its advancements on what the car culture is about today . thank you for reviving a classic.
Thanks for sharing. Love the old classic. You're friend definitely has a great car. Hope he get it to daily driver standard
Love the left hand blinking to signify a left hand turn! Thought that was hilarious. Great job, Dylan. Cheers 🇺🇸🇨🇦
Really nice fleetline. I have a 49 styleline, same car but not the fastback. Those 216 engines you cant stop them, they always fire with new points. I enjoyed watching this video.
Nice old car! The wheels look better going down the road than sitting still.
Love the late 40s to early 70s vehicles. They all had great character.
Very nice! I wouldn’t complain about rolling it around!😁
Dylan, you might want to call it a fast back but in the day, it was called a turtle back. Now, just remember that if you turn on the radio, it takes a while for the tubes to warm up. You might heard a buzzing come out of this unit. The sound is produced by what was called a vibrator needed for some tubes.
Great video glad you posted keep them coming thanks
Nice old Chevy. My Great Uncle had one Back in the Day...Great Video...
Nice ride love old cars and trucks I'd love to have me a 1949 chevy automobile like this one they get alot of attention this is the real car those in today's society is cheap made keep up the good work
Nice job with that Chevy. Great to see a wrench turner who is competent.
Love it. I’ve got a ‘50 Styleline and my “revival” took much longer! Nice work!
Beautiful car. Nice work! ‘49 was the year my dad was born. 😎👍
Those wheels look absolutely ridiculous, but the car is great! Always wonderful when an old car is put back into use.
Nice I had a 53 Chevy good to see some Chevys on here That’s why I subscribed plus your a cool young man Keep them old cars going strong
I am so glad to see you shop at O'Reilly.
Wow. Except for the wheels and no power steering, I love it!
Brother proud of you dodge project's are excellent. Thanks for remembering GM
This is the era of cars that I absolutely love
"Three on the tree" for the win!!!! 🤣🤣👍👍
Thank you so much I do love this car love the wheels ❤️❤️❤️❤️
It’s called a Fleetline. The one with the hump was a Styleline. Thing that sucks about the 49’e is they’re babbit style bearings with the very passive oiling system. My 49 exploded on the way home from buying it so our local wreck yard stuck a 59 235 in it. That was a fun car for me as a teenager! Will always have a soft spot for these things.
My friend had that same engine in a boom wrecker his dad made out of a old school bus frame for the pump for the arm. I remember the float in the Carter carburetor would stick, and you had 2 choices: pull it off, tear it down and it may free up, or tap on the side of the carb with a hammer in JUST the right place and it would start right up.
That is a gorgeous car. I like the tires and wheels. The car needs modern amenities like suspension, LS engine, AC, power steering, etc.
What a find! That beautiful baby is going to have the owner grinning like the Cheshire Cat on the way to church each Sunday. His wife, not so much. 😉
Great content as usual! 👍
just ran across yalls channel ...love all the mopars...got a all original 68 D100 truck with under 40,000 original miles, it runs but it has been sitting for years...going to get it in a shop , hopefully this winter
Nice buggy, definitely worth puttin some love into.
Keep up the goodwork DYlan. I'll be rooting for you to break 500k
Awesome...Look at the fireing perfection
I love the body lines on that car. Funny, when I was a kid, I didn't like cars from the 40's and 50's.
You just got to love the way vehicles were built before computers and plastics, if the motor isn't locked up it just took spark, air and fuel and down the road she would go well brakes and oil are always nice lol. Beautiful car that's for sure.
Surprised it’s as solid looking as it appears for a car pushing 7 decades. I see some rust to attend to but not bad. The front end has a great look.
When I was a kid, my father had a 32 chevy coupe with the rumble seat. MAN that was a fun car.
wow Dylan I am really jealous of you that is a really sweet ride and I was just thinking that you should put space grass by the band clutch in your next video k keep up the great work
Know all about those wide tires and no power steering problems. My 92 VW camper has wide 18s on it. You can defo feel you elbow pop when you try to make slow manoeuvres in car parks
That's a beautiful car. Love the fastback. Rims are debatable, but suit the car.
Gorgeous 49 Chevy man that is sweet @Dylan McCool
