      @@C_R_O_M________ @calcats262 just got a wr250r, only been off-road once. Did you guys make any adjustments to the angle of your foot controls? I find it difficult to "cover" my rear brake without applying pressure or straining my ankle after a short while, which I didn't experience with my cbr250r, but maybe I just need to get accustomed to my new enduro boots

      @@oConshien gear and brake levers are usually adjustable (in terms of positioning - usually just up and down). Besides that I use PivotPegz which tilt downwards with your foot and that adds a little bit of comfort . However, standard pegs are perfectly fine and you probably need to get accustomed to how it feels. Your body will adapt the more you ride.

      The "braking too late" comment should be "not looking far enough down the trail." Focusing on the braking seems like addressing the symptom whereas keeping your eyes ahead will fix a lot of ills.

    As a pretty much beginner who went on a 6 hour ride yesterday I can not stress enough “breaking to late” I nearly killed myself 2 times 1 by flying around a mountain road not realising I was on gravel with no traction and sliding within 3 inches of the edge of the cliff. 2 by trying to keep up with my experienced buddys and flying into a sharp corner and only just hitting a tree.

    Excellent video. I got a lot out of it. I know you mentioned it, but I always drive home the point that you need to look where you want the bike to go. I see a lot of guys focusing on hazards and then running right into them, rather than keeping eyes on the line you want to take. Keep your eyes on the line and that's where your front wheel will go. You also have to look as far ahead as you practically can.

    How do you adjust to shifting up when you're on your toes? Do you put all the weight on the right foot then try to quickly shift up a gear or do you adjust your left foot but keep balance on both foot then shift like normal? I may be over complicating this. But I do struggle to shift when I'm on the ball of my feet.

      The most important thing alot of SXS drivers need to learn is to stay off single track trails. If the trail is narrower than your machine, don't drive on it.

    Quick question about riding on the balls of your feet.. so I've been trying to consciously tell myself to do this but the second I need to apply the rear brake I go right back to riding my arches.. especially in a technical section. Would riding on the balls of the feet be for more open faster terrain? I can never get comfortable in this position it seems.. do you just jump your right foot back and forth position to position when needing to brake? Thanks!

    I'm ah beginner, I feel it really difficult to ride on the balls of my feet, especially when it comes to shifting or braking. I feel like... I'm not stable or I feel like I'm losing my balance when I'm trying to make a transition form the balls of my feet to mid section to brake or shift. And moreover I feel like we destabilize the bike by distrubing the equal weight distribution on either side of the bike by lifting our foot from the foot peg even if it's fraction of second, for making such transitions. Please help me....

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  Před rokem

      This shift it weight and balance is normal but it is something that you get better/used to. However, something that can also affect it is your posture on the motorcycle. NOT being in the correct position, hips back, elbows out, and head forward, can make it much easier to get off balance when you do move your feet. Your ankles act as part of your suspension so it's CRUCIAL that you ride on the balls of your feet always. - Chase

  • @keshmo12
    @keshmo12 Před 3 lety +1

    You didn't mention that keeping your feet on the pegs keep the center of gravity lower and keeps traction. And when your stuck you generally lean backwards over the fender to get traction. But good tips! Never even thought about cornering like that.

    Been through Shane Watts's school a few times now. Dude was a world champ and will tell you all day long to ride midsole/arches on pegs so you're faster on the controls and can survive the forces of impacts better.
    I think that tip is more of a riding style thing and less of a black and white deal. I prefer to not ride on the balls of my feet.

      I think the arches/midsoles thing is an old technique or something. I remember reading in motocross action back in the 90's and a bunch of pros said to do the same thing...if you ask the current pro's they'll all say to ride on the balls of your feet. Taylor Robert said that KC66 told him to change that one thing (ride on the balls of his feet) and it made a huge difference for him.
