Oh wow! You’ve got a blue heeler, that’s an Aussie dog! Pretty agates man, the “pigeon blood” mix looks amazing. And really nice filming and video.
Yeah, I really liked watching that. Thank you for sharing bud. 👍

Thanks for sharing that. My guess is that sinking a shovel anywhere around there would be next to impossible. The last time I was in Utah I found a piece of agate that had been carved to look like a bird with a long beak. It was carved from some agate in such a way that a red inclusion in the agate is made to look like the bird's eye. Fairly sure that the 4.5" long agate was used to keep clothing in its place due to the a deep curve just above the beak.

Scott, i have to thank you for your explanation on how to get to the top here. We spent a week in the area and found some amazing things. We would love to repay you some how but dont know how to contact u here. Did u ever get a rock tumbler??
On another note, do u know the story about the house someone tried to carve into the cliff?? Incredible the amount of work that was put into it before they gave up.
Thanks so much for your generosity Scott! We will be back to Dewey Bridge again and maybe can meet up with you.

Yes, it's easy to find a lot of different colors. Now I just need a good rock tumbler.

Amazing, I’ve been here in moab for almost two months for work (mainly on private land right there where you are, guy owns more than 1k acres and he’s letting the studios shoot a Kevin Costner movie there) and I’ve been dying to find some more agate/Jasper.. I’ve found a few on the land near (not that close) the river and I love this stuff.. thanks man, I know exactly where this is

Yes, I can see the Civil War tents and that church facade from the highway. It must be cool working on the set. Anyway, you might try the Yellow Cat area as well. The Moab rock shop sells petrified redwood from Yellow Cat, but all I have found out there so far is a deep red agate.

Ho Scott, Love your videos and aure wish u had more! We've been do Dewey Bridge area and found some nice stuff but it was all from below. We have been to the top but we parked along 128 to the north and walked in a LONG way. Wondering how you get up there and where did u park your car? Going to be in the area again early next week and hope to find a few pieces that can be cut.
Thanks for any help u may pass our way.

There is a house that someone was tunneling into the rock. You can’t see it from the road but it faces that big alfalfa field. Find the little turnoff and park near the rocky alcove, then hike up to the house with chimney. After touring the “house” keep climbing up the rock ledges until you are on top and see the red dirt. Agate is all over the groun.

@@RockHoundingAdventures My grandpa was a big rockhound and now that I'm retired I want to get into it more. I have the same rock tumbler as you, but would like to get a more professional one in the near future. Also, I don't have a saw or any other way to polish rocks, so that is slowing me down. There was a series on Amazon about a family that owns turquoise mines in Nevada, and it amazed me how fast they were able to polish up their finds. Yes, keep in touch. I love hunting for petrified wood, and agate.

@@scottks5 oh cool, you definitely should get into it more, this summer I’ll be taking a friend that is from Michigan his channel is ManisteeRocks. Right down in that same area by Dewey bridge.
The tumbler works much better then I was expecting it to. If you have a Harbor Freight near you go pick up a 4.5” or 7” wet tile saw. The 4.5” you can get for like $35 with a coupon. That way you and cut your stones up to tumble.

@@RockHoundingAdventures Thanks for the saw idea. Have you explored the Yellow Cat area? The Moab rock shop has what they call "petrified yellowcat redwood"
I've tried to find some, but the agate there has a lot of black and dark red, but not bright red. I don't think I've find the right spot yet.
