- Kyle Conner is the host and creator of the Out of Spec Studios and CZcams Channel. He is an expert of emerging technologies in the automotive space, especially EVs and autonomous technology.
On this episode we talk about why EV chargers don't deliver their advertised kW; why the expensive Teslas are getting worse while the cheap ones get better; towing with the Rivian; riding in a driverless taxi; the weird Austrian EV he can't register; his EV 3-wheeler; why putting electric drive-trains in old cars isn't worth it; why the Mercedes EQS braking system is so strange compared to its peers; and a lot more!

“How’d you register the twizzy?”
“I’ve just been driving it” 🤷🏻♂️
😂
It's also refreshing to hear a conversation about EV'S with reasonable people. The politics were stripped out.
No Maga pejoratives here!
As an ev owner , I’m tired of being lumped politically because of what I drive. These assumptions are often wrong. I bought an ev because I love tech and want to haul azz everywhere. Great podcast!
Maybe the politics were stripped out but the anti tesla tirades were not. I don’t understand how it’s Teslas problem to charge the world.
@@AUav8r05 Dude same, I blast country music in my Tesla Model 3 lol Dudes in lifted trucks look at me funny when I blast outlaw country from my EV. I wish we weren't so politically polarized as a country, I feel that is the problem we keep being reminded of.
@@AUav8r05 Same here . my dad thinks EV's are the worst but has never driven in one.
I've never heard of Kyle before, he seems like the gold standard on EV, so knowledgeable....this podcast is so good at bringing out great guests
I have to admit that I’ve stayed away from Kyle’s channel because of my, as it turns out completely wrong, assumptions about all EV-oriented channels.
Boy, was I wrong. He seems like a great guy and not at all an ev apologist I assumed he would be.
Shame on me, I guess.
Thanks Matt and Zack for introducing me to Kyle. I’ll definitely give some of his sixteen channels a shot!
Agree; same situation. I wish that the bulk of their videos were better structured instead of a 30 to 60 minute barley edited stream of continuous
@Matt Branham agreed. 20-25 minutes at most is all I'm looking for in a youtube video.
Kyle's got a lot of balls. He did a first drive on the Vinfast with a rep in the passenger seat and basically called it a POS in front of him and told the audience I see no reason for anyone to buy this car.
Matt Farah has had a number of fantastic guests lately, Kyle Connor, Johnny!, Doug Demuro, and the Demolition Man writer.
Kyle has to be a Top 5 guest imo, would love to see him on more when the chance presents itself
Kyle seems like a genuine Gear/Battery head.

Appreciate it Time Stamp God
Go Kyle! Love his content from a fellow driving enthusiast first. He’s helped me learn a lot about EVs
Was trying to like the video a 2nd time! This Kyle guy is great. Honest, transparent and very knowledgeable. Makes me consider buying an EV
Great show. Love Kyle’s geeky EV content. I’ve learned tons and he’s always entertaining. His content helped us choose our first EV.
Admittedly I have not heard of Kyle, but was wondering when there would be an actual enthusiast focused on EVs-- guess I know who to follow. Great episode all around.
Also, $10 homie here.... nice shout out for the boys at Are You Garbage.
Kyle is the best!
Really great show! I love seeing my old Lexus on Kyle’s channel and I decided to buy my LS400 because of Matt’s “million mile Lexus” videos. Great to see it all come full circle!
I miss my 96 LS400! It was loaded with all options including Air ride, Nakamichi, audio and chrome rims. Had it for 5 wonderful years. If I had a huge warehouse, I would keep all my old cars.
We know it’s the real Kyle because of the Starbucks
What a great guest
Kyle is the best! Glad to see him starting to get some exposure outside of his own channels.
Amazing watch! Kyle is an awesome guest
I loved the response to the question about adding more character to EV’s, like I kind of just said “you don’t” to myself and that’s pretty much what you guys said. I used to have the same concern before getting an EV, but after getting one I no longer want fake sound or the idea of simulating “sporty” shifts
I don't catch every TST podcast, but I follow Kyle around, because he truly is an EV guru. I'm not at all sold on EVs, except for short commutes, and when you have charging access at home/work, but I wouldn't have known this, or even been more curious about EVs if it wasn't for Kyle. I definitely enjoy his presentations, & being informed through his videos.
There were some great analogy jokes in this episode. Gonna have to follow Kyle now.
Really interesting guest, fun episode hope to see him again in the future
Love these podcasts. I know it's a lot of extra work to link all the segments but it's so worth it from the listener's point of view. One criticism is that while listening on headphones, the sound of people hitting touching the table is a bit distracting.
One of the best episodes.
I live in the same town as Kyle (not sure he wants the exact town blasted out on CZcams) and work for the local electric company. Another issue with electric chargers is the fees that utility companies could potentially charge for charger installs. The ampacity fees that my employer charges for larger electric services are so astronomical that it seems criminal. It’s resulted in very few EV chargers in our area.
Some utility companies need to change their rate structures to lower the upfront cost when it comes to installing EV chargers.
More fundamentally, why aren't the power companies the ones supplying the charging stations? And why is the process of charging so stupid using apps etc.
@@denim_joey I've also heard that there are huge fixed cost surge prices to deliver EV charging levels of power. Like, the Walmart getting a $100K surcharge for 10 sessions totalling less than 8 hours across the month. We'll see what the White House NEVI requirements will be.
I live down the street from Kyle, and have noticed that the area has way fewer charger than Atlanta, where we live previously. There, every Wholefoods and Kroger had chargers in the lot. They were free to use while you shopped.
I think the reason we have fewer (but still plenty depending on the spec) charger here, is because everyone has garages they park in and charge. So many homes here have solar. In our case, charging is basically free at home, so we only charge at destinations if we're roadtripping etc.
Edit: Also we can't even get two bars of cell reception thanks to NIMBYs, so it's not like they'd let us charge in their town anyway lol
Kyle has literally shown how to drive to his house in some of his videos. I don't think he cares.
Love Kyle 👍
I love seeing Kyle & the Smoking Tire!
Great guest, balanced perspective that I wasn't expecting.
Kyle is awesome and his channels are super helpful and informative. Found him as I was contemplating getting my Model 3. He certainly helped me decide to get one.
Great episode! I follow Kyles great podcast. I hope he comes back again.
This was a great convo. So many things I feel I could add to the discussion, but you guys overall covered EV stuff really well.
I was surprised to hear about the R10 TDI requiring "not diesel". We were told when that car first came out that it was 70% regular ultra low sulfur diesel and 30% of Shell's Synthetic Natural Gas to Liquid "V-power" diesel. That GTL stuff had some obscene high cetane rating, above 70.
Cetane, for the diesel uninitiated, is almost the opposite of octane. Octane in gasoline, the higher the number, the higher the resistance to auto-ignition. On a diesel, well, the whole combustion process is auto-ignition, so the easier it can ignite and burn, the better, cleaner running and more efficient it can be. Also helps a lot with high RPM power, which of course a diesel race car needs all the help it can get. Where normal road going diesels might only redline anywhere from 3000 to 5000 RPM depending on the engine we're talking about, the race cars went to 6000, and you're really hard pressed to get much more out of a diesel while still making a reasonable amount of torque at those RPMs.
So, where diesel in California (CARB) and Europe need to be a minimum of about 50-52cetane, much of the rest of the country is fine with 40-45, which is pretty garbage. Also in California, there are some stations that have a second gen "renewable diesel" from bio sources (not called biodiesel, though, important distinction) that use similar gas to liquid process after gasification of various sources of biomass and have a similar end result to Shell's natural gas to liquid process (Fischer-Tropsch?). Super high cetane, at 70+, but, it doesn't seem to quite have the same energy content (calories or BTUs, whichever units you want to use in your head for energy content) as regular diesel, which is why, as I understood it, Audi went for the blend of 70% regular ultra low sulfur and 30% of the high cetane.
Now, being that I moved out of California only a couple years ago, I did get to experiment with this stuff in my own TDIs, including my 04 Touareg V10 TDI. If I ran 100% of this fancy high cetane renewable diesel, my diesels would noticeably start easier, idler smoother and have improved high RPM power, BUT, since the fuel has that BTU deficit, it actually has worse low RPM torque and fuel economy wasn't as good.
So, knowing all this and reflecting on what Audi did in the R10 TDI race cars, I decided to try 70% blend of regular CARB Ultra Low Sulfur diesel and 30% of the renewable diesel from either Propel or some of the 76 Stations that carried it in the Bay Area. That did the trick. Better fuel economy, better power everywhere in the rev band, yadda yadda yadda.
So, that would be my advice to Bruce, also since he's in California, try that blend of 70% CARB diesel and 30% of the renewable from the various Propel brand pumps (they usually lease pump space in another brand's gas station all over the Bay and Sacramento) or from the handful of 76 stations that have the near identical renewable diesel since it seems to have similarly super high cetane.
Speaking of, was fun to hear a mention of V10 TDI Touaregs. They are most definitely NOT still worth 70k. haha
I bought mine for $2k in 2018 with a little under 170k miles, also knowing it had worn out camshafts that needed replacement, which, as with most major services on that engine, means it's time to drop the entire drivetrain out of the SUV to work on it. I see then pop up pretty regularly for under $10,000. The internet and just word of mouth have made people scared of owning them because of the potential repair expenses. But, I frickin love them, and once you take some time to understand them, they're not THAT bad to work on compared to some other stuff out there, though it does help a lot to have a 2 post hoist and an AC recapture/recharge machine... Some of the things that the repair manual and the internet have said are "engine out procedures" can, in fact, be down with the engine still installed. Helps to know a couple tricks. Still a little labor-intensive and not super easy, but I have infact replaced tandem pumps and O2 sensors with the engine still installed.
Was definitely NOT expecting to hear TDI content in a primarily EV discussion, but it pretty much made my day. The EV discussion itself was great. I also went to a number of races the R10 competed in in the U.S.. I used to live in Michigan and had grand parents that would winter in Sebring. So, every March from 2004 through 2009 before I moved to California, I drove 1200 miles to Sebring to stay with them for the week and go to the 12 Hours and take photos, hike all over the place. So, I was at the very first race that the R10 ever competed at, the 2006 12 Hours of Sebring. Those things were really something else to witness in person. They were equipped with particulate traps (which would be a requirement nationally for all production car diesels starting in 2007) so they would not emit any visible smoke, per the ACO rules. This made them EXTRA quiet, combined with the fact they're also turbocharged and very low revving.
Tricky to get photos of, they would sneak up on you and just appear out of nowhere silently. You'd really only hear a little bit of the engine as the car went past you and you were facing the exhaust. I could hear one of the damn GT1 class Corvettes 3 from several corners away, but not that diesel. It would just appear out of nowhere with no audible warning. It was WILD to see it in its first race silently kicking everyone's ass. haha
I love that Ford will show native turn-by-turn directions from Android Auto in the driver's display in the Lighting. I agree with Kyle that we need more EV data exchange between the cars and your phone. If you have a Hyundai E-GMP EV and have software for battery preconditioning, the only way to trigger the process of warming the pack is to use the 'meh factory navigation. Given this system still needs routing planning, it could be better-also, no option to manually toggle on the conditioning function. The best situation would be the car knowing where you are going from CarPlay (any map app) and Android Auto so the car can at least start warming up the battery pack 30 minutes before you arrive at the Level 3 charger.
FWIW, because this came up on the episode with Jonny as well, the R1T Matt and Zack had was shod with 22s wrapped in Rivian-specific (elect) Pirelli Scoprion Zero performance all seasons. only worth noting because they inadvertently reference their test truck having the 20s with all-terrains. That aside ... Been following Kyle and Out of Spec for a while and enjoy his/their reviews, etc.
Great podcast and Kyle is an entertaining and informed guest. And a little weird which makes him even more endearing.
Charging prices in Norway between the different suppliers is fairly equal. In Norway 1 Gallon of petrol or diesel cost around 8 dollar. 1 kW cost around 70- 80 cent at a fast charger. At home 1 kW cost around 10-15 cent.
Fun conversation.
Regarding electric car fires I’ve read the new trend is not to dump tons of water but to let it burn out. It burns hot but doesn’t spread. You will see EV fires where only a portion of the car is burnt and the rest of the vehicle is fully intact. A hose is not going to put it out but it’s not going to explode either if you just leave it to smolder in place
I REALLY want to hear more about Canepa's R10 TDI and what kind of fuel that thing uses. I can't find any other info anywhere on those things.
Hey Matt, look at Freewire for a fast charger in your building. 27kw input power and 200kw output power due to a battery buffer in the charger. Just a 208 mains hookup
I liked this guy.
Florida used to have tags that identified a car as a Rental. They stopped doing it for that very reason you gentlemen discussed: People kept getting targeted by criminals.
In early! Love Kyle and their channel. Glad he’s on to shed some light on these issues
Newer bills are putting big asterisks on charging station funding, like reliability and uptime requirements of 97%
It’s worth noting that many insurers can get vehicle telemetry from the manufacturer directly- it’s part of the mobile data for many modern cars, not just EV’s.
Thanks for the tip about R U Garbage, great interview I didn't know about this guy & he was very interesting & I'm going to follow him on the tube, Rj in Oz
I go the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona every year....they have lighted signs on the side of their cars that show their place. And they have different colors for the classes.
Negligence, Incompetence, Malicious Compliance. It's human nature. I wish is better because it's the one problem left that makes BEVs almost perfect.
1:33:20 the Porsche panel was electroluminescent.
I’ve never enjoyed this channel but I respect you and love Kyle,
I have also been noticing the videos glitching a lot more makes it kind of hard to watch, but the audio is good.
Do you have a time stamp? While recording I noticed issues at the beginning of the show so I changed a wifi setting (per Switchercast recommendation) and it seemed to smooth out. -ZK
@@TheSmokingTirePodcast Hey Zack, there's a bunch of stuttering between 20:30 and 21:00, including when Kyle says the name of the app he's working on, "Rate" is completely paused/glitched over, so I just hear "--- Your Charge" for its name.
@@Anstormning Yeah I caught this as well.
Like the others said a bunch of micro stutters early on, but it did seem to smooth out towards the end, however I have been noticing quick stutters during fast hand movements in recent podcasts, Im being a little pedantic by saying it was hard to watch lol.

Twizzy is the best EV I dove.. :D
As the owner of an X308 Jag XJR. You definitely should pick up an X308 or X350 XJR
I drive a Nissan leaf 24kw with 70 miles tops and the only concern is being able to charge. Tesla please make a adapter Tesla/Chatdemo. We need more locations
Public Charging is my biggest concern. I'm hoping to get a Rivian R1T and I will want to road trip it. But I'm already dreading it before I've even bought one.
We’ve had a Tesla Model Y for over two and a half years now, and I am yet to dread charging or have a charging problem on a road trip. EV newbies should be honestly told: if you intend to take road trips, buy a Tesla, until either all Supercharger locations also offer CCS charging or Tesla’s competitors have caught up in high speed charging quantity, quality, reliability and locations with Tesla Superchargers.
Your example: if you can afford a Rivian, you can certainly afford a Tesla. I am not at all saying “don’t buy a Rivian” - they are amazing EVs. But be aware of the stark difference in high speed charging in the United States
This guy could easily pass as Mr. Beast’s older brother
Why not set up a Airbnb style charging network? We would end up with an abundance of EV chargers.
Names do matter because you want it come up in a search. SEO exists for a reason. Not saying viewers won’t find you. But YT’s search is already shit so you want to make it as easy as possible to find the channel.
FWIW, I’ve never heard of Kyle or been recommended his channels. But I also haven’t sought out EV specific content.
I drove a trash bag Kia Soul rental car and the lane assist/self driving drove on the highway fairly OK. It'd give me warnings to hold the steering wheel but I got confident enough to relax but you still want to pay attention.
Never realized Rivian is doing proprietary chargers, how disappointing!
53:56 Both the Hummer EV and Sierra have Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist. On the Hummer, Lane Keep Assist is a button to the left of steering wheel and ACC is a button on the steering wheel itself. Maybe he didn't realize how they worked.
😂 I’m glad I don’t live in Colorado! I rent all the time, and now I only rent Teslas. Brand new 2023s …love them - really well built now, and fun to drive. I’ll never buy a $100K+ vehicle 😅 When I’m ready to buy one, it will be a Tesla. Other EVs are nice looking, but are way too expensive. Until they fix the charging infrastructure issues and get the value right, it’s Tesla for the foreseeable future. Meanwhile, 😅 I love just renting. LOL …no headaches, expenses, etc…..
You have to make a profit guys. Non-Teslas pay more. They will be HAPPY to when they see the high experience and availability of those same chargers.
My favorite German whimsy are jumping Mk1 GTis.
That doesn't help with EVs but knowing the story of how much of an accidental success story the GTi was, I wouldn't be surprised if lightning strikes again (there's a pun here I'm missing lol)
I've heard Matt comment on the 400 amp panel only allowed to be using 80% of the actual load and complaining that it's because of CA or whatever city his garage is in. I'm pretty sure this is just due to the national electric code which only allows 80% continuous load from a 400 amp panel - and that's to avoid fires, so its serious shit. And any licensed electrician installing this kind of service should know that.
Feedback on ads: As someone who is usually sitting through the ads, the way you have them now as opposed to all at the beginning does mean I'm less likely to skip through them all. Thanks for doing that.
FYI If the box is the size of HatchBack Car. That's too small to be a Generator for Level 3 DC Fast Chargers. That how massive the electrical power requirements are for those Level 3 DC Fast Chargers. Meanwhile a Level 2 can be powered by 3 Parking Spaces worth of Solar PV Panels and some batteries.
I only tune in to hear Matt piss on Tesla 💪
Put 4K miles on my rivian before it failed. Then service center forgot to bolt everything back on right so rivian had a major failure again. So I sold it. 🎉
The bans in 2030 are for ICE only powertrains, not to Hybrids and Plug-in Hybrids. What many Automakers aren't realizing, it's there is a big demand not only for affordable BEVs as for Plug-in Hybrids. Which make a great alternative, as battery Cells are stuck into Li-on technology.
Are you talking about EU ban right?
@@MrRaitzi California and EU are projecting a potential ICE ban around that decade.
I really hope the US updates the grid to facilitate better charging infrastructure
Kyle is great, but the problem with the 16 channel strategy is when users want to search for something specific, or heaven forbid, go back and find something. You’ll never remember which channel it was on, and you may or may not hit the right keywords to locate it.
Funny thing, the folks who need, who can benefit from EV's the most. The delivery folks, the folks who live 40 or more miles from work because that's where they can afford to live, apartments with just street parking, are the folks who can't buy EV's
Asked this to you on Twitter, but more appropriate here - when do the “Greenies” start attacking Hummers, Plaid Teslas and other “high performance” EVs? It can only be a matter of time.
GREAT Show! You and Zack are killing it.
As soon as there is critical mass they will shift focus.
Are greenies the people that complain about gas guzzlers or vehicles perceived as dangerous? Honestly idk if they'll be singled out too much as much of that crowd is talking about car dependency and transit anyway. I think in this day and age it's tough to point out any single vehicles as being more problematic than others. Unless we're talking about half-ton pickups, in which case I think I'd agree. Anyone that's seen a dozen or more terrible pickup drivers on the freeway would probably agree. The brain-dead masses were dangerous enough in cars.
I think the Hummer EV should not be sold at all. And that 0-60 mph should be capped. I also support speed governors. No non-CDL should own a large EV truck and none require sub-8 0-to-60. It's all incredibly dangerous and harming people walking and biking the most. I am realistic, as I grew up the son of a GM career employee in Detroit. I know EVs will be very necessary, plus transit and active transport modeshift. I also think ICE sales should be banned on passenger by 2035 and commercial fleets by 2040-45. Car reliance, generally, is bad. I'm a YIMBY and land-use person also. But, performance EVs are an emerging danger. See also: ADAS as a "solution" to traffic deaths.
I'm sort of a "greenie" and I do that all the time, at least for the big and heavy stuff like Hummers. Or at least, I'll openly tell anyone that they are stupid if they actually think that those are actually better for the enviroment. But as Matt says, you are not going to change the world with your choice of automobile (currently, when electricity production is changed much more towards renewables, it might make a more significant impact). I think if we actually want to make a big shift, they should make durable and easily recycleable cars, but that would actually interrupt the automakers business model too much.
Interestingly, for "sports cars" like a plaid tesla, it's not like an ICE sportscar: more maximum power doesn't mean less efficient, or at least the drop in efficiency isn't nearly as big.
Buying for the 95% case sucks. Any EV or 90s Honda for that matter can handle 95% of my commuting, grocery shopping, even road tripping, but it won't take me in to the mountains off the pavement, it won't haul my entire family and a boat to the lake, it won't take me hunting three hours from the closest dc fast charger, it won't take me to rural America ice fishing in the dead of winter. There's plenty of practical even electric cars I'd love to own and drive, but man they're just not there yet and I can buy a lot of gas for the price of a model 3, taxes, insurance, tires, etc. So either EVs need to be dirt cheap commuters (which don't really exist due mostly due to taxes/insurance) or they need to be able to replace gas vehicles (which they just can't do with todays infrastructure). What if instead of all these subsidies for 50k+ cars and 6+ figure charging stations we had a US kei car equivalent for sub-100 mile range city EVs that were cheap to buy, cheap to manufacture with reduced lithium and nickel resources, cheap to own with reduced taxes and fees, and cheaper to insure? I think a lot of us would put a lot of miles on these things.
When are we going to see an Aptera review?
6:00
We need to make a standard like gas. Every EV uses the same plug and so we can have many more EVs charging stations. As soon as charging becomes as easy accusable as gas then Evs will take over.
That's hilarious that people would say Matt is paid by Ford just because he has good stuff to say about the Mach-E.. It's a great EV!
he also openly criticizes some of the glitches
17:00 Yeah they need to make that shit simple. I'm an EV nerd so I care, but I can't realistically expect anyone else too any more than a traditional gearhead can expect the average driver to give a fuck about the nuances of how their ICE cars work. Average people do not give a fuck, never have, never will. It needs to be simple.
@33:40 US/Canadian government dropped the ball on that regarding Tesla. They should have twisted Elon's arm to adopt CCS like the European Union did.

$400 a month? With 10K down bro. It’ll be at least $700 a month with over 3K down once you put the deposit down.
video is super glitchy and skips
Dude viouri rules. Wear em daily. The sweatpants rule.
12:15 What channel(s) is Matt referring to? I feel out of touch.
Even 5 YT channels are far too many to maintain
Instead of autonomous driving, maybe build transit and dense neighbourhoods. Therefore, there is no need for Autonomous
No, I don’t want to live in a dense neighborhood. Call me materialistic and wasteful but I want what I like.
Screw living in dense urban environments. There’s a reason they’re all shit holes. It brings out the worse in people because we are not genetically wired to live like that.
@Bob Smith Have you been to the Netherlands? I hear very few people complain about 6 walkable cities
It's known as 'The Simon Whistler Plan'
Tell the government to get off their ass and mandate reliable charging stations and to use superior NACS connector and the walled garden will come down. The smartest thing Tesla did was the supercharger network and it wouldn't be as stable or available if they had to accommodate for everyone else's crappy designs and slow charging.
48:00 agreed, stinking dudes definitely are the problem. Thankfully we have this amazing technology, that solves it all
Excellent show, but: "Tesla lives off government subsidies" -- this was true years ago, it is absolutely not true any more -- Tesla makes huge profits on its EVs, and is outselling individual EV producers outside of China by 10 to 1: certainly including Ford, the #2 EV company after Tesla in the US. If all government subsidies went away tomorrow, GM & Ford would be hurt far more than Tesla.
Also, I'm puzzled by the Autopilot hate: I've gone 25K miles in Autopilot in the last 2.5 years, and view it as an absolute game changer, it is radically better than cruise control, or just plain driving. I am not suggesting that is is impossible for BMW or anyone else to produce a better hours trap, but the idea that it exists now, is not met by evidence. GM's Cruise which fails on sharper curves on the highway is but one blatant example of how far from Tesla more of the competition is
Charging speeds are like USB speeds. advertised speed is never close to real world.
I enjoy Kyle's nerdy content. I watched a portion of this video because of him. I'd be a regular watcher of the podcast if Matt didn't use foul language all of the time. It's simply my preference.
Fuck yeah
I kindly suggest you stay out of the North East then. Cursing is normal and people use the F word almost religiously. It’s something you don’t notice until you travel to other parts of the country.
BTW, his use of foul language is really minimal.
@Bob Smith It's simply a choice. I've heard Matt be clean on podcasts and when he was on TV. Kyle and his family are from the Northeast. Notice how Kyle didn't curse once, while Matt did numerous times.
1 million percent disagree on the yoke. I love it, especially on long drives.
EVs are just sooo polarizing. Half the population treats them like my 75# dog treats tiny dogs- their existence is an affront that must be eradicated. The other side treats them as if they’re the single greatest invention of all time.
Used to be a Porsche guy. Had a GT3. When buying the Tesla it was a toss up between a Porsche Turbo and a Model S. EVs are the next coming of Jesus. Having your car convert gasoline to sound is like having a steam engine. Its just dumb. Like who cares how much power a steam engine makes, its a stupid technology vs gas cars and gas cars are a stupid vs EVs.
if u r going to take a tesla to the same destination as the waymo .....u also have to sit in the back without access to the wheel xD
waymo and cruise can be compared only to the tesla robo taxi in whatever year that comes ....it's a completely different business model waymo takes the entire liability and u can sleep to your destination with tesla the fsd beta u can never under any circumstances get in the back of it because it's a driver assist feature u have to correct and u have the entire liability
Kyle, there are so many states that don't even have DCFC's so I disagree with your comment that CCS users will not be using Tesla's supercharger network. I live in MN and it is an absolute game changer when it gets available. Same goes with so many states in the middle of the country. Yeah maybe in states with a good level of CCS chargers like your Colorado, but not ones that do not have any.
those cheap cables have less good metal.. back to mining
Why criticise Tesla for their higher prices for non tesla (which drivers are perfectly at liberty to go elsewhere) rather than EVERY OTHER SINGLE OEM who have done f all to roll out chargers including VW with their very poor (from what i read) network ? FWIW in the UK the extra price for charging a non Tesla isn't that much higher and unless you are charging on SC's very frequently not worth a monthly subscription. An extra few £ for an assured fast available reliable location? Any time.
