    • @ieyke
      @ieyke Před 2 lety +55

      Nah, jokes depend on the context they're put in.
      Some of this is a little jarring at first if you've never seen it before, because you don't know what's what.
      But these jokes end up being great once you learn that the FBI guys are being portrayed as assholes, Carter is an idiot, and Jackie is a nice guy just trying to be friendly/polite but not knowing any better.
      The film isn't trying to depict Carter as wise or right. He's the butt of the joke.
      It's not making the FBI the heroes. They're sort of lesser antagonists.
      And Jackie isn't treated as fully knowing what's going on, he's just blindly repeating what seemed to be polite.
      Context defines how everything lands.

    My recommendations for more Chris are Money Talks, Fifth Element and Friday. The rest for rush hours of course but one change up for him is Dead Presidents to see him in a more dramatic role.

    Holden definitely is justified in his level of respect for Jackie Chan. This dude puts in work and has broken his body to bring surprisingly wholesome entertainment to the world for, what, 400 years now? Others can claim the same, but he's not bringing any weird stigmas along with it, like the full force of Scientology in his back pocket the way a cornball like Tom Cruise does.
    The guy lives life like a superstar, but when you see him in interviews, he seems like a genuinely friendly guy who would give you a few minutes with a giant smile if he could spare the time. In fact, he seems _so_ squeaky clean, I almost worry about a day that an email account gets leaked and we learn some sort of Bill Cosby-esque secrets... But that guy has had rumors for years. I really haven't heard anything negative about Jackie Chan. Either he's managed to remain a pure human being, or China's censorship is 2legit.

    Holden, you are talking to a Jackie Chan fan here. I concur that Rumble In The Bronx and Who Am I? along with Mr. Nice Guy and First Strike are classic Jackie films. Are you familiar with Snake In The Eagle's Shadow? It's one of my favorite old school Jackie films from 1978. It's definitely worth a watch. The Hand of Death (1976), Operation Condor II: Armour of the Gods (1986), Operation Condor (1991) and Twin Dragons are a must. His Legend Of Drunken Master (1994) is also one of my favorites; try watching Drunken Master circa 1980 but stay away from Battle Creek Brawl of the same year. I can easily go off on a tangent about his films but if you need some advice on which specific ones to watch here on your channel with Jen, let me know. I hope in the future you patrons will have you vote on watching Michelle Yeoh, Donnie Yen, Chow Yun Fat, Sammo Hung, and Jet Li films.
