Ep 7: Rear Suspension Install! Mitsubishi FTO Budget Track Car Build
Vložit
- čas přidán 25. 08. 2017
- Currently, in the UK, the FTO is a cheap option for a track car build.
This one had a dead engine, but came with the manual gearbox, LSD and a decat so it was perfect for the project.
In this video I install the rear suspension, including trailing arms, lower control arms and the "dog bones".
I include the use and fitment of billet aluminium arms designed for the early Lancer Evo and polyurethane bushes for the Toe control "dog bone".
Thanks for watching!

Hi please can you tell me where you bought all the bolts from Iam in the process of fitting the same to my colt cj which has an Fto mivec engine swap
nice video and teatching!
Thank you Felipe
Cool vid, I have a blue set waiting to go on mine
We found a set on ebay listed as for evo 1,2,3. They fit just fine.
How have the control arms held up?
Absolutely fine so far 👍
Still loving this series, very comprehensive, excited to see it on the track, getting closer!
I spy some Legnum wheels off to the side?
Maxim Allen Thanks Maxim, this video was a little experimental in its head cam use. I'm glad the not so good parts haven't detracted from the content. I'm really excited about the next video showing rear caliper work I've been up to...Hopefully it can help a few others to rebuild theirs.
I liked the head cam! I just picked up another FTO, glad to be back in one....
Maxim Allen The wheels you can see are sadly not legnum ones...just filthy dirty fto stock wheels. Glad to hear of your new toy. Enjoy it 👍
How did the droplink issue get resolved using the Evo 123 rear arms. Considering doing this job so it would be good to see how this was sorted. Thanks.
The arms came with arb brackets which fitted fine, but we're reported by others to be weak. I reinforced them by welding fillets into the corners of the brackets and so far they seem to be holding up well. 👍
@@ManSeeksCivic Thanks for replying so quickly. Good to know there were no alignment issues. Keep up the good work with the videos - very informative.
Awesome!
Where did you get the red rear arms from
Cheers lee
Ebay - listed as Evo 1,2 or 3 fitment.
@@ManSeeksCivic thanks mate
Thanks for this video! I'm confused, are these Evo 4 or Evo 5 lower control arms? Thanks.
They fit Evo 1,2 or 3. The chassis of those early evo's and the fto are similar.
@@ManSeeksCivic thanks Pamo. Any other chassis bits I can switch over?
You're the best resource in CZcams for FTO.
Thanks Tony. My swap knowledge is limited but I believe most colt and early evo bits fit... Its worth looking at any of those parts and comparing them. I think there's a possibility of using lancer shocks... But I don't know the detail unfortunately.
Where you get the nut and bults from
Which ones?
For doing the back wheel in your video
@@ManSeeksCivic the ones your using in the video for the back
I'll have to watch the video to be sure.
If you mean the gold ones on the bench... They were the original bolts. I used to work in a plating shop for an aerospace company so was able to clean and replate them myself.
Were did u purchase the control arms from, have an fto i bought a while back & the control arms need replacing & i cannot seem to find any about looking on ebay etc that will fit, thanks
Peter Byrne The ones we have used are listed as Lancer Evo 1,2 or 3 arms. The only issue is the droplink attachment - this may need some fettling.
Cool will check that out, thanks
@@ManSeeksCivic are they the same length as the fto standard ones? My under standing is that Evo 4 is is same as ce lancer/mirage, and Evo 5/6 is longer and the same length as fto? Just not sure about lengths of Evo 1-3
@@elijahpurnell1444 Side by side they're geometrically the same. The bushes are tight but they fit well.
@@ManSeeksCivic perfect, so in theory they are longer than Evo 4 arms and the same length as Evo 5?
