    hi! this was a great video- i’m considering going next year & i’m very excited!! i was just wondering, is there an advantage to taking the shuttle downtown over the L? i’m going to major in education so (from what i know) the school is downtown and i’d be going there often :) thank you!!

      Grace M hi! I’m glad you enjoyed the video! So I really like the shuttle bc it’s more comfortable and convenient however wait times can be a bit longer than the L. We have a tracking system so after a few weeks you get the general times down. From what I know only the School of Communications, Business, and Law are at the Water Tower campus but don’t quote me on that haha

    Any of you attending Loyola, if you're going into law or something that requires a poly science pre req, take Professor Danford's class in Political Theory, he graduated from Yale, He's tough as nails, his tests aren't per se easy, but you'll have a brutal and honest assessment about yourself when you deal with his class. He'll make you be honest with yourself about what type of student you are at LUC. He has a great sense of humor, it's dry, but funny, but he can also be a bit arrogant, by that I mean he doesn't really allow you to have an opinion in his class but he does do Q &A style Lecture and teaching. He isn't for the weak hearted

    The story of Loyola University is that there was a priest and a priest woman/monja that had a baby and they didn't want anyone to know and the priest woman/monja wanted the priest guy to quit being a priest but he didn't want to so the women hung herself and died so the guy didn't want to feel guilty so he jumped off a building and died so there spirits are in that school

    BS in Criminal Justice 13' LUC Alumnus here. What she is saying is pretty accurate. The Damen Cemter was freshly built as of 2013 when I graduated. It has a movie theatre inside and billiard tables in the basement lounge area. Loyola is NOT a party school at all. Most of that will happen off campus. Loyola students are mostly politically Liberal. However, it's not an activist campus. Greek life, if you're expecting Greek letter jackets, they're there, but not enough to notice. If you're expecting to see strolling and step shows that won't happen at Loyola. All of the black greek life is chartered. I was pissed about that. The school is crazy expensive, even for In state students. However, it's definitely for the more serious students. They have been steadily moving up the school tier rankings. For years, they hovered in the Tier 3 or Tier 4 range. Now they're hovering Tier 2 and Tier 3. One thing I'll say, they to find out the political view of the teacher. When you write an essay that requires a political opinion, base it on his or view and not yours. If you know you're professor is Liberal, and you're Republican don't respond with a "keep it real" Republican response say what he or she wants to hear

Speaking of social life, how is it at loyola? Are parties a thing or are they usually off campus? • @powpaupug
      @powpaupug  Před 5 lety +1

      @@thickwarriorz4259 I totally understand that, if you look up the dorms on CZcams there are tours of the freshman dorms (although the vids are a bit outdated they do the job). Social life is mainly off campus due to the dorm rules/regulations Loyola has, there is definitely something for everyone though! I only noticed the 2:1 ratio during my freshman year but as you get to know people and move into smaller classes I have felt that it's not so evident. Let me know if I can answer anything else:)

    • @frankeezies
      @frankeezies Před 5 lety +4

      Not to be negative but mertz is actually horrendous. But, it's the cheapest freshman dorm, so you get what you pay for really. The only three elevators (for 800 people and 19 floors btw) keep breaking and at one point all three were down. It's just a mess, I wouldn't recommend living there unless you can't afford to live in the other dorms (which is why I got stuck at mertz). De nobili and Simpson are nice. This is just my opinion though, I'm sure some people, like Paulina, enjoyed living there.

    • @powpaupug
      @powpaupug  Před 5 lety

      Sabrina T. I actually did not want to live in mertz but it being the biggest freshman dorm lots of people get put in Mertz bc lack of space in other dorms. Of course there are nicer ones but overall my experience wasn’t too bad just with occasional broken elevators.
