I left CA 2 years ago, this video got my heart pumping with anxiety as I miss this more than anything else in CA..glad I got to experience the Imperial Sand Dunes through the 90's and early 2000's..best times of my life
3-4 times a year we go from 1986 till 90 then one last time in 1994 with a buddy in a jeep with paddle tires V8. Those were the glory days of 2 stroke I had a 87 KX 500 ported for glamis big carb thing pulled and kept pulling. It was faster then most except for highest powered buggies if we got into big woops KX could fly though them with upgraded suspension I had. Haven't been back since 94 we used to camp in the small dunes I heard all closed off now. Sometimes I think about getting back to it again maybe in a sand rail too old for MX bikes.
Those were the days. I started going to Glamis in the late 90s. I was about 17 yrs old and was riding a 250R. Still go out there, but it's a lot more mellow now. Guess that's good with kids and all.
This was how I spent my teenage years. Graduating to Comp Hill after growing up on Sand Dam was a big deal for me. Who's cutting onions dammit? God I wish I could have stayed in CA.
New Years 1999 was just like this, maybe even more people. I took ecstasy that New Year’s Eve. Just imagine how intense and satisfying that was for a gear head. I remember most trucks ran straight headers and everyone of them were built to shit. My mind was blowin🤯 my best time ever 🙌
Still going in 2020. Comp isn’t closed, just has curfews. Everything’s moved to Oldsmobile now. 800hp long travels and side by sides that are as fast as anything, except the big V-8s. Can’t wait for winter!!!
I was there that weekend with my girlfriend who is now my wife. Don't remember it being that crazy, then again I don't remember a whole lot from that weekend. Good times back then. Just started going out there again last year with the wife. It does seem a lot calmer out there now.
Dude, how times have changed! All I hear is two stroke bikes, all I see is blazers, broncos, buggys, and good ole halogen lamps all over the place, these days is all about led light bars and side by sides.
Ya, in addition to all the whoops going across and up, and that funnel narrowing section,, right around the 1:45+ you also see a truck going up what looks exactly like the smoother pathway to go up/down, that is on the very left side, And it just looks like there's way too much open space and people coming from far away for it to be up against the 78

I didn't start going until recently. I LOVE the sounds in this video, the days before the 4 stokes took over. It must have smelled like glory

Been going since 85.....from my atc 185 to my tri-z 250 then my 89 cr500 and now 08 polaris outlaw 525. More cops is the biggest difference.
Definitely the good ol' times, many memories and bitchin times. Sadly so much has changed nowadays and not necessarily for the better either.

back in the day Comp was the only night hill, Olds was mostly deserted, but Olds was definitely the place to be in the day
