  • It's a lot of fun to share the experience of flight with non-pilot passengers. But I always ask the question, should you "MESS" with them or not.
    Here's how I talk to most of my passengers. Some I'm more aggressive with, others I take it a little easier on. How do you approach your passengers?

    Here's a growing list of good "one-liners" to tell your passengers:
    Q: How long have you been flying
    A: Oh, just about 3 weeks now
    Comment just before takeoff:
    I hope you believe in God!

    After taking many passengers up I’ve decided 99% of what I’m doing is too much info. I’ve condensed it all to “I hope you believe in God” as I pull out onto the runway. Good nuff

    Several years back I rented a 172 out of Y70 and took about 40-50 adults and kids up from 6D6 looping east around Long Lake (where I grew up and where most of the pax were from). Spent from sunup to sundown giving 10-15min rides.
    It’s a poorer area and a lot of those kids would probably never fly without that ride.
    It was a lot of fun.

      That’s so awesome Roy, what an amazing day it must have been! Thank you for giving so many kids a great experience.

    It's an honour for someone to put there life in my hands. For me I am all business and most times will let my passengers take control while in cruise and all seem to enjoy that. Great memories for me were flying with my kids when they were little which included car seats being removed from the car each time and placing them into the plane and carrying a diaper bag. Lots of work but very fond memories for me.

      So powerful Reale, thanks for sharing. You're right, they are memories you won't ever lose! Thanks for being here.

    on that digital rpm gauge you can press both buttons at the same time and it will temporarily zero it out (kinda like a tare function.) Then look for you drop and in 20-30 seconds it will go back.

      No kidding, I've never heard of such a thing. I'll give that a try the next time I'm in the airplane.

    By far my most meaningful flight with a passenger was taking my mom to go see my brother about 150 miles away in Chicago. On the way down she was white knuckling it. By the time we came back she got more comfortable and really enjoyed flying. Was absolutely my favorite passenger experience. I have a picture of it in my community tab.

      Thats so awesome! I just went and looked at it. It reminds me that we (my dad and I) were able to get my Grandma to fly with us, but Grandpa was a hard NO. That man could not be convinced!

      First time I took my wife flying was in a rented 172 pos, she didn’t say a word for the first 30 minutes…. quiet IS NOT one of her traits. I was relieved once she slowly raised her phone up and started taking pictures.

      Hahaha, nice! Maybe you’ve told me before, but does she fly with you often now?

    • @HairHelmet
      @HairHelmet Před rokem +1

      @@MyTimeToFly Reasonably often, 1-2 times a month and at least one long cross country a year. It was a big step bringing the chihuahua with us for the first time. "It's ok if we die but not Rocky!"

    😁the best part of this vid: "the most important thing if something does happen is, for you is if I say we got a problem, we're going down or something, open that door. I don't want to have fight that thing open to get out of here. passanger: OKAY! 😂😂😂👍

       @My Time To Fly but you gave the man some job. Finally... maybe he felt pleased to have some use in that plane or he wanted to open that door immediately and run away. 🏃‍♂🤭

    My passengers always seem to wait until were in the air to ask how long I've been flying. I tell them "About three weeks now." With a little over 500 hours in my logbook, that's actually pretty close, but always seems to take them by surprise?

    Not very familiar with Mooneys…you put two “pumps” onto the flaps prior to departure. Are the flaps hydraulic? The flaps in my Cherokee are different.

    • @MyTimeToFly
      @MyTimeToFly  Před rokem

      That’s right, the flaps are hydraulic. It takes about 4.5 pumps to get them fully extended.

    • @AwestrikeFearofGods
      @AwestrikeFearofGods Před 5 měsíci

      @@MyTimeToFly Sounds like that design would make for inconsistent partial flap extension.
